Oh i know I've definitely been skipped for whatever reason, there is no mistaken that erie feeling you get when a malicious person has you in their sight.
Ok I just find it really odd that there's even a debate about background checks for ppl working with children.... As an American it's a law to get a background check to work with child and elderly
In Australia it’s the same, you must be in possession of what we call a blue card before you can do anything at all pertaining to children, even coaching a sport team or cleaning at a school, you cannot go near a child at school either without permission through the school and parents. I love how ridhid the rules are. I have two daughters and I know they’re as safe as we can make it for them
In Australia to work with children you have to have a National Police Clearance and a Working With Children's Card. It isn't a problem to get both if you have nothing to hide.
@@NatlovesJesus1 no. Bc he killed those little girls bc he's a sick person and he enjoyed it...they would have killed him to protect those girls and also maybe future victims of him. There's a clear difference.
@@NatlovesJesus1 no because that’s willing to put yourself behind bars for life in the place of 2 girls living and finishing their lives. “Nat loves God”.... then you would know that God would do the same thing for those children.
Hold the front door. At the end, are these people actually saying there should not be a registry of child sex offenders available to employers when the person in question is applying to work around children? FFS. Yes, yes there should be. No, it is not violating their privacy. They sacrificed that right when they abused an innocent child. And the insinuation that the employer should somehow be able to tell on sight and by checking references that this person is safe around children is bullshit. Pedophiles and rapists do not all look the same. Many of them are charming and clever and all of them are manipulative. I cannot believe these people. How would they feel if a pedophile was working around their children?
Neville's Bookshelf It's funny how they keep ramming this notion that these people deserves second chances, have they not thought of the children that these scums have killed?! Can they be given a new life as well? No. They're rotting six feet under while these fuckers go on with their lives.
EXACTLY! I was stunned when that moron said something along the lines of people should use their intuition then only check someone out if something doesn't feel right. What kind of an imbecile is he? Just a bit earlier in the program they emphasized how good criminals can be at lying, because they've even convinced themselves that they're innocent. And people are supposed to rely on their intuition when it comes to the safety of children?? Also, when someone's warning bell is going off, where exactly are they supposed to check if there is no national database? Those people are so full of crap it's disgusting.
The problem is that you cant say someone is a child offender without a prior conviction. All that is written there without that it´s just here say and can be BS. This is the problem. You or someone be puted in the regist because someone by revenge or something like that say that to the police...
I’m still stunned that arrest and conviction records aren’t public there. The employer should also be held responsible, they’ll gripe less about checking if they go to jail, too.
In every single documentary “a crime that would shock the town/city to its core” ... “these type of crimes don’t happen here” ..... “describe the victim..... they would light up a room”.
That guy talking about checking backgrounds of people based on how you feel is so wrong. It enforces discrimination based on how people talk or look, and fails to recognize that many creeps come off as very normal people within our society. Background checks for people who work with children should be a no brainer.
@@danielsass1826 no, you completely misread my comment. I’m saying that we should background check EVERYONE working with children regardless of how they look.
I ran away with my best friend and returned home a few days later, My mum told me about this case and how all she was picturing was a situation like this. After learning more about this case my heart is broken for my mum and I can’t believe I made her feel like that...rest in peace two beautiful angels
I ran away with a friend as a teenager and we accepted a ride from an older man and as we were in the back of his van we found boxes filled with P orno magazines, weapons, rope, adult toys, etc. It got wierd real quick. We ended up jumping out of the van.
alex lao that's fine and dandy until you realize that not all "criminals" are terrible people, rapists, pedophiles murderers etc of course are bad but what about people in prison for drug dealing or illegal gambling etc
"Found guilty by a majority verdict, I am told, of eleven to one!" ...Really? Who was that ONE confused juror who thought the first girl accidentally drowned herself in his bathtub, and the other spontaneously suffocated? Are you serious?
It could be that the juror felt that the prosecution did not do enough to prove Huntley himself murdered thw girls . Just a guess . There always seems to be someone unconvinced or hung up on some technicality .
The jury don’t see what we see. They see the evidence the prosecution puts in front of them. It may be that they felt the prosecution hadn’t been proven to the sufficient level, as in court they have to be sure, not just think it was likely or probable.
TNToncourt there is no justice for the victim there won't be until Christ comes again to judge the living and the dead and they will get their just reward. Too bad the guy didn't have a gun on himself to protect that poor girl that was being beaten half to death look what he did to those two guys oh my God how horrible
I love that that man said I had no choice but to go up there and help her.... Yes u did have a choice!! And that choice that he made that he said Anyone? would have made wasn't ordinary. It take extraordinary people to do that. Do u know how many people would have just walked away?!! That man is an honorable hero a true gentleman the way we women expect a man to be. Well done. Much respect
You're right. I have been in this situation, my ex was going crazy and hitting me and wouldn't let me leave and I finally got out to the stairwell and was yelling for help and nobody helped me and I almost died that night. Ended up in the hospital with brain swelling and lots of other injuries like broken ribs. I then went to a women's shelter and it was awful there but better than being with an abusive a-hole
Sheri Morgan wow that’s awful.. thank God you got away from tho and I’m so sorry noone helped you or could have.. but you’re still here for a reason! God bless! 💜🙏✌️
The two girls were in the same class as me as I went to the same primary school I remember are little chats in class they also played from up the road from my old home and I would join them and have picnics I think I was 4 or 5 years old at the time. I remember the day this awful event happened there were police helicopters ambulance everywhere I had no understanding what was happening as I was so young but because this was such a trauma for me I remember it like it was yesterday. Maxine Carr was my step in teaching assistant at the time from what my dad told me and to just know that makes me sick and couldn’t believe all of this was happening behind all my friends and family all this time that Maxine was teaching us. I moved school straight after this event life was never normal after. I’m on many medications for my anxiety as this has such a trauma to me every time I’m out I think someone’s watching me. My parents were good friends with the two girls parents too. I miss the two girls terribly having the thought I could never see them grow up like all of us did makes me very upset I’ll never forget them always in my heart rest in peace angels. ❤️
After experiencing trauma like that I'm glad u r functioning at all. Take it a day at a time, keep your head up n u will be great. RIP to your friends in heaven. I wish u strength, courage n peace........Shannon b.
I'm sorry how can someone with a history and police records of child abuse allegations even be allowed to work in a school!? This would never happen where I live - if you have a record once you're done working with children and that's the lot of it
"This would never happen where I live" how delusional are you? You think those people in that community didn't think the same? use your head if you have any braincells left.
This is just how they operate in the UK. Bleeding hearts care more about the rights of the criminals than the victims. We're the same here in Australia.
Nice. Clearly you know more than all he police investigators and judges, so why are you wasting all your great impressive talent making retarded internet comments?
That's not to say anything about what he did with them before he killed them. He knew they knew who he was and could identify him for whatever heinous acts he did, so he made the choice.
Pedophiles rights to walk around freely should be taken from them on their first offence. These ppl are predators that cant be rehabilitated and should remain locked away somewhere so they can't hurt children but there's too many bleeding hearts that would scream victims rights that wouldn't let that happen.
Agree with you 100 percent, castrate them and give them life without parole , regardless of their social standing, age, and no matter how wealthy they are. These item's will never ever ever ever change.
I don't think I can ever forget them. I was still in primary school when this happened. I wanted so bad to go out and look for them cause they were reported missing at first. But I was too young to go. Instead, I would look out my window from time to time, including at night, hoping I will see them walking by and save the day 😔 R.I.P. to them. Such beautiful innocent souls. It hurts. It still does.
I lost my daughter as well to a brutal murder , still slot of questions are unsolved I miss her so much , I really miss her , my life has never been the same at all, I have another daughter that's married, now and in collage but the pain of it all is horrific, and my other daughter was on the back burner from all of this, it has really consumed my life.
It is hard enough to deal with a death. Then a death of a child. Then being murdered. There are no words to describe how the families of murder victims feel. Some people can eventually deal with a death of a loved one & move on with their lives with good memories. When someone has been murdered this has been pretty much ruined for the families. I really feel for you.
I guess the intent to protect him got his previous convictions quashed (as far as public information). Whether a minor (or not), people who commit violent sexual crimes in their younger days should NEVER have their violent or pedohile past hidden from the public. It is becoming ever more apparent that sexual and violent criminals have serious mental problems that rarely get "healed."
lekkki1 This pathology can be corrected in children, and most children are only offending because they are being offended. Children are ALWAYS VICTIMS. WE DON'T GET TO IGNORE THESE KIDS AND THEN ACT LIKE IT'S ALL ON THEM. You dont even know how this mindset works or that these kids need help or why. You're the problem. Newsflash. These kids are not getting treatment! How dare you turn a blimd eye to children being raped and molested! It's YOUR fault! YOU, THE ADULT, SHOULD KNOW ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO PROTECT THEM. AND YOU DO NOT!
It’s sickening that it can take only a moment for a predator, in a single evil act, to steal the life of a child in whom so many have invested so much time and energy to love and nurture.
When they talked to Ian Huntley at 8:56 he claimed that he told the girls that his gf was sad she din't get the job as if it was new information. But, then later it shows her with a card from one of the girls they had given her previously offering condolences for her not getting the job. Plus her speaking about then in past tense is huge red flag.
Criminals don't deserve any privacy....they gave up that right when they committed a crime...especially against a child...prison is too good for that monster...I say put him in a room with both sets of parents of those girls and walk away.....I'd be in prison myself if that would have been my child...I can't understand how people can be such monsters.
Saudi Arabia or Iran may be a better fit for you if were talking about criminals. If were talking about pedophiles, child molesters, child killers and so on I completely agree. Rehabilitation is obsolete for these people.
@@FiannaaCyanide It's funny that that is what sticks in your memory about him. lol. I'm still wondering how a body can be 'impaled' by a 'bed frame'. Pretty heavy lifting. You look like you'd have trouble lifting a pillow, btw. lol.
The teacher knew, cause they first say they talked to the girls because the girls asked her if she got the permanent job, but then she shows a drawing that she got from Holly on the last day of school cause she didnt get the job. If Holly knew, why would she ask?
I don't think I will ever forget this terrible heartbreaking case. I remember driving home from work on the M6 motorway and it came on the radio that two young girls had gone missing. My daughter was of a similar age at the time and I felt my body become cold and I felt sick in my stomach. It seemed as though everyone on the motorway had been listening to the news at the same time because all the cars in front and behind me all slowed down in unison, as I did myself. It had been a warm sunny day that day and I just could not believe that such a terrible thing could happen when the sunset looked so beautiful. Of course I hoped the girls would somehow be found safe and sound but my initial reaction was that it would more than likely turn out to be that they had been murdered as is so often in such cases. I remember shedding a tear as I thought about the unimaginable pain the parents must be going through. People, such as Huntley, are the real life monsters who live among us almost invisible until they do something that reveals their inner evil. I know the police take DNA when people are arrested but I wonder now if perhaps they should also test for psychopathy?
Anyone else notice how Iain said that the girls asked if his girlfriend had got the job or not and yet she was on the news with a card from one of the girls which said how sorry she was that she didn't get the job from the last day of term... they already knew and the police didn't pick that up from the interviews.
Yup. Come on. Its like a clue in a crime your supposed to solve in a detective video game. Its so basic and obvious. Detective work 101. Really, its like a clue out of L.A. Noire, and that's the moment you click the, "accuse them of lying," option.
Huntley was given a double life sentence, with a minimum term of 40 years, for the murder of schoolgirls Jessica and Holly from Soham, Cambridgeshire, in 2002. That is shameful that a double life sentence and he can still get out - wrong Britain
@@AnitaSouthall True I don't know what is happening to England, we used to have public hanging. Now we are all woke and worried about the killers feelings. Smdh. We were also the country that used to draw and qrauter people. We need to go back to some of these medieval times.
I thought it was ok- a little quiet- but then around the 32 minute mark that journalist literally SHOUTED the verdict to the camera and I thought my ears were going to bleed! ;)
the music should not even exist! that's the real perversion in the production of these things. this is not a thriller! and i don't need emotive tinkley piano and spooky synth sounds to tell me how to feel about the information presented. it's disgustingly shameful actually. then you'd hear the narration just fine.. NO EMBELLISHING SOUNDTRACK ON DOCUMENTARIES!!
I feel like Maxine Carr also had blame in this. She knew what kind of person she had a relationship with and got him a job at the school with her. Sickening The both of them are awful. So sad :(
This is right. Although she was an abused woman, she was nonetheless complicit in keeping him an active predator. She has to be held responsible too, to some extent, which I'm glad she was.
The question is not why she stayed with him (it's clear they have a somewhat co-dependent relationship), but why she helped him get easy acess to children when she knew what he could do.
@@PB-qe6ce I would argue that it was a survival instinct response: "He will hurt me, if i don't, so i will" even knowing of what could happen. It was probably a decision under duress and no matter how involved we think we are, we are still animals. I would also argue that a lot of people in her shoes would do the same, while arguing right now that they wouldn't. This of course is no excuse, she well deserves punishment, but i do think that her being abused should be considered in the decision.
Me and a friend of mine hitchhiked when we were 15 and got picked up by a truck driver. Luckily he was nice and we we’re dropped off unharmed at our destination but now that I’m grown I can now see how that could have gone horribly wrong. This was in the early 90s. When you are a kid you don’t think anything can happen to you. We jumped into his cab like it was nothing , we had no fear whatsoever.
Actually, not to nitpick... but in the US it actually costs taxpayers 10x more money to execute a criminal compared to life in prison. This is mostly due to the legal fees related to multiple appeals that are entitled to those on death row. Capital punishment is not economical to the taxpayers. Nor is a detterent to violent murder/rape. For example the US has one of the highest murder rates in the western world as well as the most executions. Data, my friends.
Lon Hixson , I don’t see your connection between the criminal issue at hand and “90% of Christians.” Are you suggesting that this child predator is somehow related to Christianity and its precepts? If so, you’re as delusional as he is.
@@eratoisyourmuse659 Basically, it is a system where lawyers get rich. Let's face it, law & order is a self-perpetuating industry in the US. But consider how many people have NOT been murdered due to the deterrent of the Death Penalty. Of course...that "data" is inaccessible.........
I'm so glad the former home of that freak Huntley was destroyed from top to bottom. It's a small but fitting gesture to honor Jessica and Holly and their families.
Everyone who applies to work with children in Australia or any 'vulnerable people' has a police record check done. I've had one done and I'm a mother myself, all of 5ft 2, 61 kilos and a buddhist (not that this really makes one some sort of saint who's above suspicion) and I am HAPPY to have my background checked as far back as anyone wants to go if it makes parents etc feel more comfortable. Protecting children (and elderly, disabled or even just unwell people, and even animals!) should be our priority as a society because as with Soham and so many other cases, we've been letting kids down. The idiotic idea that checking someone like Huntley's background is 'invasive' is ridiculous, and asking employers etc to go by their gut feeling is ludicrous: most paedophiles don't go around wearing a dirty mac and are scruffy bearded old men- they're seemingly normal psychopaths like Huntley.
Being stalked is absolutely terrifying. When he was arrested, they found duct tape, shovel, knife...and a whole notebook with my name written over and over.
I'm an American and we have had a database for a long, long time. I can't understand why every Country wouldn't have one. This absolutely blows my mind.
When my mum saw the interview with Huntley years ago she knew instantly it was him, she was telling us for two weeks. Cos he was the last to see them- and also what 10 year old says I'm really sorry you didn't get the job?! I guess it's feasible, but...
I'm still waiting on the evidence related to those girls. The documentary jumped from domestic abuse to police state legislatures. Did I miss something?
This is why I'll NEVER allow a man who's not related to us to come close to and be alone with my child (or to anyone else's child, for that matter). No one else should, either.
@@eatymceatison97... And the "vast majority" that are men are still "a few" when compared to the whole of men... You don't even have to look at another case as this one even had a woman accomplice. Being so focused on men being evil and downplaying the fact that women commit the same atrocious crimes doesn't help anyone. Watch who you let around your family, regardless of their gender. It's as simple as that.
This case breaks my heart… two trusting little girls who thought they were going in to see their favorite classroom assistant… only to be met with violence…
I would suggest they leave him alone in a room with the two girls fathers, and let him try to apologies while they beat the holy hell out of him. Also why can he wear what he wants? he should be issued striped prisoner clothes with a number on back.
Infringe on human rights???? My gosh, pedophiles are NOT human and should have NO RIGHTS!!! Ridiculous to be worried about their "rights"! He wasn't worried about the rights of those precious babies!
That first interview they showed with Huntley at 8:30 seemed so normal. I did not get one weird vibe from him. Usually on these shows you kind of get the creeps from the murderer. This is even scarier. This man didn't send up any red flags for me.
riggs20 same here. I didn't think he sounded unusual or suspicious in any way. His reaction sounded like how I would react if I were in that situation.
He over-explained, carried stress between his eyebrows, and often looked to the side during explanation. Especially when he finishes and motions that the girls "walked to the library", his eyes don't return to the interviewer.
19 years on and I'll still never forget the tragic death of both these girls. Being around the same age it literally hit hard. 😔😭 Fly high gorgeous girls 💕xx
Yes, I was living in Soham at the time and was in the first grade. I remember hearing my mum talk about it as we drove through the village and I was just in disbelief and so confused. I still think about it all these years later.
My best friend and I had a similar experience but got very lucky. Some guy took us behind a shed. I screamed like a lunatic and we ran. I never thought someone would attempt it with 2 kids but they do.
I would hope British Law has made changes and learned from these murders because if proper records were kept of these child abuse allegations, why on earth would a school hire such an individual without a criminal background check?
I recently saw a case in the United States where a lady 25 years old let her boyfriend abuse her and then later he killed her and was sentenced to three and a half years in prison plus two years post-release supervision. Circumstances are different but the sentence is still less than life in prison
I don't really see the problem regarding privacy. Here, in Sweden, the solution was made very simple. People who apply for jobs concerning children - must show a copy of their criminal record that they can obtain from the police department - but it only needs to cover information regarding severe crimes and crimes against children. So no petty crimes will appear on the record obtained. There is no - nor should there be - hindrance for someone who has been convicted for... say... shoplifting or burglary - to not be able to work with kids. There are a number of different purposes of use - and one asks for the correct one - which will only list past convictions regarding relevant issues for the line of work. Simple as that. All crimes that are considered "petty" - are scratched from the record after five years. (Violent, sexual, arms etc, - will be ever present.)
@700rwhp Agreed lol. The fkn policitcs acts like fkn children in kindregarten not wanna speak with eachother, and all blame SD and jimmie for wanna make the land safe again and HE are willing to talk to the others, fkn ignorant bastards.
In Ecuador many schools have their papers in rule but the problem are the authorities, state, police and city mayors. They keep the schools unprotected, kidnappers are outside all the time waiting for exit time. The police sends its units only to selected schools and after a case has shown up just to regret a lost. Organ dealers come from the US and other countries all the time to pay for kidnappings. Some kidnappers are relatives or sexual predators. It's very common here. Dozens of cases of teachers raping students are reported every year but never was reported a homicide involving a teacher. Kidnappers are the biggest threat. There have been cases in which the kidnappers threaten the teachers to become their unwilling accomplices. The police suspects on them and sometimes they are taken to investigations where teachers confess their fear to be hurt by a kidnapper but until they confess they make waste a lot of time.
@@caryoulwhitty Yes it is. If you see my videos "noise in Ecuador" you can figure out how a chain of public disorders are connected to the connivence to criminals of all sorts.
Yes. In America one is all it would take to hang a jury and there would be a mistrial and the poor families would be dragged through a complete new trial. The conviction must be unanimous among all jury members.
The guy that says that people need to use their personal judgment to evaluate people has never dealt with people who are able to lie to basically everyone OR he has something quite serious to hide.....or maybe he is just a paranoid idiot. In some cases he might be right, but violent/abusive people just don't deserve some things, like access to children et cetera.
Stuff personal judgement, and human rights when it comes to kids!!! it’s too wushu washy, have a database on Everyine, make everyone give a mandatory DNA sample to hold by the government and be done when th it. They’ll prevent so much crime in the future and catch so many more killers still lurking out there.
plus, kids just can't properly judge who is a safe trustworthy person to be around, it's our job to make sure these people aren't near them so they can't be manipulated into trusting bad people.
@@ellespoonies Most adults can't either. I've watched enough of these documentaries where people say "I never suspected him or her could be capable of doing such things." These predators count on people using their flawed judgements to allow them to be able to do the things they do.

@@michaelbreen8804 I should probably explain myself better. The things I would do would depend on circumstances. The outcome would be the same, and probably some time for the creep to think about what they did before no further oxygen was wasted in them. 😉
I'm a teacher and I love my students like they are my own kids. If anyone dared to try to harm them, I'd kill them myself! How can this woman be a teacher, work with kids daily, knowingly cover up the deaths of two children?! 😭
Such beautiful young girls...what a tragedy for the families. I feel so bad for these precious babies; they must have been terrified. 😪 Since there wasn't a unanimous guilty vote, I sure would like to know what the one idiot was thinking! SMH
I got alerts on this in America, and South Georgia,,,,I was sickened, by this crime. Any crime against children, is a worldwide crime. May they be in peace. And I hope best for the Family, and Families everywhere.
This so tragically reminds me of Libbey and Abby, the young girls murdered in Delphi Indiana. My home state. They still haven't caught that monster. He'll get the death penalty when they do.
On the way to my friends house, a man tried to get me into his car. I remember being very frightened and I resisted vehemently...suddenly cars started going by and he looked around, and then he just gave up and jumped back in to his car and sped away. I'll never forget that experience, even though I was only 8 years old. It took place less than 20 miles from Seattle. I was very fortunate that day. It could have turned out very badly. And if I'd of turned up missing it would have killed my mom.
I’m happy to see such concern from so many about the tragedy of those innocent children and the deranged killer who ended their lives. That much thought went into thinking about how to prevent an occurrence again with authorities and others demonstrates that this is a community that cares about its citizens and does what it can to insure their safety and protection. This, unfortunately, is not always the case in the USA. Many deviants and offenders, depending on money, power, prejudices, and who they know, are given sentences that are too short, or sometimes an innocent person is arrested and made to pay for the crime of the guilty. Sad but true!
It's usually some idiot that can't understand the judge's instruction. For example, reasonable doubt becomes an possible doubt within hypothetical universes or some such nonsense.
Loved that they knocked the buildin down as a constant reminder of the tragedy that took place there. Prayers to the family & friends of the victims. Such a sad case 😞
Not having a central data base is unforgivable. I have an arrest on my record from age 21, I was not told I was under arrest or for what at that time. I am now 66. It didn't keep me from doing any job because it was so long in the past and no charges were actually ever filed.
I like your clean narration, no exaggeration no fake wahrm ups , just the case and events and clues and names with most suitable narrat. God bl3ss all poor innocent souls.
Its just the style. The narrators on american crime documentaries tend to yell out their words and talk about pointless things such as the attractiveness of a murderer, etc. In England its much more calm and matter of fact, with the focus on the information at hand and how to rectify certain issues.
Hi! Is it also the style of the British documentaries to tell us in the beginning of the film, who the culprit is? American crime documentaries are usually presented as a mystery to be unraveled as the film progresses. I'm just asking because I have noticed this difference . Thanks.
+J SMITH - I think that might be because there are so many crimes in America that no one even knows about most of them. It often happens in the same city and most people have no idea, let alone in a neighbouring county or even a neighbouring state. When this happened, the whole UK knew about it. This documentary was made on the 10th anniversary of the crime, kinda like a reminder, and it wouldn't make sense to keep the viewers in suspense when everyone already knows who did it.
When the Hell will victims get REAL justice. The murderers show no mercy...why should we show them any? And of course it should be known what they did... they give up any rights when they do such a thing to anyone, let alone a child!!
I just don't understand how there's people out here who believe that it's inhumane to take a person who would do this to children and not want to kill them the same way they did to them innocent beautiful children it baffles me there monsters
I've never heard the phrase used by the detective before regarding clearing the ground under your own feet before moving outward. Interesting way to put it. I love British crime stories!
As someone who works for "vulnerable people", I'm glad that they feel safer knowing there is a standard in place (in Canada) that will decrease the likelihood that I could be an abusive asshole, because I have a clean criminal record. Predators seek out victims. Just because someone doesn't have a record doesn't mean they won't commit these sorts of crimes... but it prevents known predators from preying on vulnerable populations.
Because there are actual cases of people being hanged/electrocuted etc when innocent, I would rather murderer's stayed in prison against one person dying wrongfully.
Because the pedophiles are running Britain. The Luciferian pedophiles run the world. They will use the death penalty on the true followers of Jesus Christ.
It didn’t catch anybody’s attention that when they talked to Huntley he said the girls came by and asked him did Maxine get the teaching job at the school and he told them no she didn’t but when the news reporter spoke to Maxine she said one of the girls gave her the farewell card at the end of the term because she didn’t get the job. That should have stood out along with the fact that Maxine was speaking about them in past tense.
I think basing whether you do a background check on your “feelings” is utterly preposterous. So many serial killers have the ability to fool you. Kemper even got one of his victims to unlock the door for him after he’d been locked out. So no, don’t think that’s the way to go. A national data base is needed. As for previous indiscretions - depends on what they are. Maybe have a level of access. Background checks for regular jobs 10 or 15 years back will not show up (unless sexual or murder). Working with kids all will show up. But allow police to have access to all. Depending on references is also ridiculous. How may priests have been moved to other diocese? How many employees have been fired but get good references? Lots because not give a good reference opens you up to law suits.
"HOW DO VILLAINS LOOK SIR?" The dumb police got played!!!! That Maxine character is trash and guilty as well. I'm sorry for the girls and their loved one's! 💓
This documentary really underplayed Maxine Carr’s role in the whole thing. They almost give an excuse for her behavior. When this was all playing out live, Maxine real behavior was very volatile and irrational, she was leading searching parties for the girls, she was on every news channel giving interviews. She too enjoyed the publicity of it all. She was just as deranged and responsible for all this as Ian. She just had a good lawyer and a great defense. She blamed it all on him.

Ok I just find it really odd that there's even a debate about background checks for ppl working with children.... As an American it's a law to get a background check to work with child and elderly
Jennifer Mayes I had to get a background check working in a restaurant.
In Australia it’s the same, you must be in possession of what we call a blue card before you can do anything at all pertaining to children, even coaching a sport team or cleaning at a school, you cannot go near a child at school either without permission through the school and parents. I love how ridhid the rules are. I have two daughters and I know they’re as safe as we can make it for them
Jennifer Mayes I don’t think they could do much with it since he (earlier) didn’t have enough passed charges on his rooster.
Jennifer Mayes yeah I'm a softball coach and I have to do a new one every 2 years. This should be mandatory for anyone working with children.
Yea but there's a lot more sick Americans out there too.
In Australia to work with children you have to have a National Police Clearance and a Working With Children's Card. It isn't a problem to get both if you have nothing to hide.
Jessica Grgich same in the US.
Perhaps now, but are you sure that was the case in 2003 when this crime happened?
And with old people too- updated every couple of years

Exactly. These kids never got the chance to grow up. What about their rights?

Yeah, for certain. They must not have children, as we all know they just aren't that delicate or none of us would have survived to adulthood.
This is why people should be aptitude tested before they can sit on any jury.

I felt every word you typed😓
Anyone else notice how Iain said that the girls asked if his girlfriend had got the job or not and yet she was on the news with a card from one of the girls which said how sorry she was that she didn't get the job from the last day of term... they already knew and the police didn't pick that up from the interviews.
Yup. Come on. Its like a clue in a crime your supposed to solve in a detective video game. Its so basic and obvious. Detective work 101. Really, its like a clue out of L.A. Noire, and that's the moment you click the, "accuse them of lying," option.
That probably formed part of the reason for their arrest a day later and was probably part of what convicted them.

Josephine Oaks-Courtney I know he was hella casual 😬
The creepy part is that that's probably more common than the very obvious creeps who commit crimes.
Josephine Oaks-Courtney yeah like Chris watts sounded so guilty and fake

Capone Gatto woah you were very lucky! whend this happen?
What happened to the guy?
We meet again. Lol
@@khpk5479 lol.
im so glad u did so
i hope uve found some peace and have healed from it
I would hope British Law has made changes and learned from these murders because if proper records were kept of these child abuse allegations, why on earth would a school hire such an individual without a criminal background check?
It has.
This absolutely makes me sick. My condolences to the families. He will rot in hell
As a father this makes me terrified. This stuff is just unimaginable but yet people still manage to do it
I recently saw a case in the United States where a lady 25 years old let her boyfriend abuse her and then later he killed her and was sentenced to three and a half years in prison plus two years post-release supervision.
The same here, in Germany! !
@@giovannichingautheman3780 wow, your country is ill
@@caryoulwhitty Yes it is. If you see my videos "noise in Ecuador" you can figure out how a chain of public disorders are connected to the connivence to criminals of all sorts.
Anybody wonder about the one person that didn't find him guilty??
I have no children of my own, but I would be truly afraid of what I might do if any of my loved ones were victimized.
I’m flustered why anyone who hurts children gets to live on while others pay for it.
I am 42 I have no children either. I know what I would do.
Tough talk
Yes exactly 😭
That Ian Huntley interview outside his house before he got caught is chilling.
Such beautiful young girls...what a tragedy for the families. I feel so bad for these precious babies; they must have been terrified. 😪 Since there wasn't a unanimous guilty vote, I sure would like to know what the one idiot was thinking! SMH
Only a sociopath would continue lying while confessing.
Even 4 days after all those different police groups were finally involved they still didn’t look at the last person to see them alive !!! Unbelievable
ALWAYS be on the side of the child, never dismiss ANY child that needs to talk to you
how horrible...........sickening what people do
I got alerts on this in America, and South Georgia,,,,I was sickened, by this crime. Any crime against children, is a worldwide crime. May they be in peace. And I hope best for the Family, and Families everywhere.
And I have 5 daughters, and 2 sons,,,,,,I had,,,and I feel for all types of families, we are all parents.
WhisperMomASMR asmr Meanwhile you have a creepy “Mom” ASMR UA-cam channel....yikes
WhisperMomASMR asmr I agree totally !!
This so tragically reminds me of Libbey and Abby, the young girls murdered in Delphi Indiana. My home state. They still haven't caught that monster. He'll get the death penalty when they do.
UA-cam is taking the piss with the amount of ads they put on this, 7 ads ffs
I know this is old but if you fast forward to the end and then press replay you dont have to watch any

11-1? Really one moron actually thinks he didn't do it? Wow
u are so correct
If all 12 members of the jury found him guilty the verdict is always 11-1. In every trial. No matter how obvious the murder was.
CUEBALL424 I was looking to see if anyone caught that. I had to pause the video. I REALLY want to know who was the holdout and why.
It's usually some idiot that can't understand the judge's instruction. For example, reasonable doubt becomes an possible doubt within hypothetical universes or some such nonsense.
Nothing is 100 % but when it comes to children you have to go above and beyond and if you don't like it to bad.
How can someone just take a persons life? How can you live with that?
Loved that they knocked the buildin down as a constant reminder of the tragedy that took place there. Prayers to the family & friends of the victims. Such a sad case 😞
“All is forgiven. Please just come home.” God I’m crying this is just heartbreaking
I don't know why this video has been unable to be seen in the UK where I live. Well bollocks, I am watching it anyway.
All pedophiles , rapist murders should be put to sleep (lethal injection)after proven guilty
I think their deaths should be painful.
WBLMB WBLMB Pedophiles or child molesters?
same shit
Dallas Wise Not all pedophiles act on their urges. Not all child molesters are pedophiles. Sex crimes are normally about control.
Dallas Wise both
Not having a central data base is unforgivable. I have an arrest on my record from age 21, I was not told I was under arrest or for what at that time. I am now 66. It didn't keep me from doing any job because it was so long in the past and no charges were actually ever filed.
Shirley pilger - so your arrest comes up or it doesn’t
Shirley pilger the first sentence was sufficient, Lewis.
Shirley pilger 🤤
Shirley pilger it is a testament off your character that you persevered. You should be proud of your accomplishment/ s.
Shirley pilger you kill these girls?
I like your clean narration, no exaggeration no fake wahrm ups , just the case and events and clues and names with most suitable narrat. God bl3ss all poor innocent souls.
I remember reading the book written by Holly's father, called 'Goodbye Dearest Holly', such a sad story.
How is it that the narrators voice is way to quiet, n all the other volume levels are fine??
... It's making me nutz! 😖
Thanks.
Alan Smithee i thought i was the only one lol
+J SMITH - I think that might be because there are so many crimes in America that no one even knows about most of them. It often happens in the same city and most people have no idea, let alone in a neighbouring county or even a neighbouring state. When this happened, the whole UK knew about it. This documentary was made on the 10th anniversary of the crime, kinda like a reminder, and it wouldn't make sense to keep the viewers in suspense when everyone already knows who did it.
That makes perfect sense! Thank you for the insight!
It is crazy to know these two girls would be 26 now. That is older than I am and I'm an adult. RIP to these two♡
He will die in prison..he will most likely be shanked when they find out what he did
Well done. You have handled a sensitive topic very delicately.
Such a sad story, but what a Beautiful little town
My heart breaks for this family 😢
When the Hell will victims get REAL justice. The murderers show no mercy...why should we show them any? And of course it should be known what they did... they give up any rights when they do such a thing to anyone, let alone a child!!
excellent doc. love the videography interviews background music. flawless!
My deepest and heartfelt sympathies go out to these girls parents, other family members and their friends.......
Well it’s the same as Jesus parable, take the spec out of your own eye before you removed that of your brother
Tell me again why capital punishment shouldn't be reinstated in the UK again?
Because there are actual cases of people being hanged/electrocuted etc when innocent, I would rather murderer's stayed in prison against one person dying wrongfully.
Ian Pilkington
Because it's a modern and civilized country!
Because it’s a barbaric practice. The UK, unlike the US, Saudi Arabia and China, is a civilized country.
I did NOT expect there to be a videotaped interview with Ian as everyone searched! That made my stomach drop.
Wow UK also has weak laws and no justice!
I am so sorry for what the family went through for all of this! I cant fathom & pray I never will the pain of losing a child 😭❤️
