Hello Hazel, I had a horrible experience in a luxury department store where I was trying on clothing and the sales assistant insisted on bringing out more and more. clothes which were unflattering. As I left the fitting room I heard her telling another sales assistant that she could feel the negative vibes coming from me. I bought nothing from her but purchased a jacket and a coat from elsewhere in the store. I was upset and mentioned the experience to a sales assistant who was very apologetic and arranged for a store hamper to be delivered to my home as an apology from the store. Try not to attach any negative connotations with your experience, as you will be the one who loses out, by not buying the item you desire.

I want to share my experience of shopping at LV at Prague back in 2018. I had taken a Flix bus from Dresden to Prague with a list of 2 items on my shopping list. My friend has asked me to help her buy a speedy and a man’s belt. I was wearing a black hoodie windbreaker and very discreet as I was alone in a different county with no wifi access or mobile line so my mission was clear. Cross the border get LV, have lunch and get back to Dresden alone. The service was so rude and offlandish in the LV shop. 4-5 of their female sales associates refuse to serve me until a nice handsome middle eastern gentleman came up and ask if he could help. I was so glad I was finally getting some attention. I whipped out my phone and showed him exactly the items I want. On top of them, he gave me suggestion on what I asked for- a light black classic with no monogram please. He recommended Pochette bucket bag. I bought a black short wallet and a long wallet and walked out of the store after paying for 5 items. Let’s just say I made my biggest purchase in my life in that 30min I was in that LV shop and went out for a quick lunch/beer before heading back to pick up my purchase. Nice guy had a HUGE LV paper bag waiting for me to my horror! I explained I can’t walked back to the bus station carrying this as I was alone and this will make me a target immediately. I asked if he can kindly help me place all 5 items into a “fake Longchamp black bag” and I will be on my way back to the bus station. Luxury used to mean the highest quality items bought with roll out the red carpet service. To buy the products wasn't off the rack by sales people who were bored with their jobs. To buy the products was a luxury experience itself. People would literally go to that city to have that experience buying that bag or whatever. *It is NOT dealing with people who hate their jobs and customers for a bag made in a sweat shop. What is called ''luxury'' now is just a pretentious abomination.
100% I've had this experience, and not even in fancy shops (looking at you MAC cosmetics). I even had something like this happen in a wedding dress shop where the girl helping me burst into tears saying "I can't handle this!" and rn away because my sister made a perfectly reasonable aesthetic comment about the dress I was put in. It wasn't even bad, it was a stylistic comment. I was made to feel like a problem customer. So we didn't buy from there. Tell you who has never had this experience. My dad. In his walking shoes and flat cap he is treated like he walks on water. I guess he gives off rich dad money, but I won't buy anything if they treat the two of us like the money is coming from him.

No one with class would treat customers in this way. The guy was representing LV, he should be sacked with immediate effect. Personally speaking, DO NOT PLAY THE GAME!
I can relate. I have been to LV at Selfridges a few times and have found the service to be consistently lacklustre. First you have to wait around to be given an SA and then when you are with someone it’s such a perfunctory service. They will bring you the bag and then you are expected to move along and purchase. Actually it was similar at Chanel in Bond Street when I got my medium classic flap bag. No offer of a drink or any other nicety. I was almost in a state of shock considering to buy a (then) £5,500 handbag. But they took me seriously I must admit. No rudeness but just boredom I suppose. Yet another black classic flap sale probably. Though the SA did assure me I would not regret going for caviar leather and urged me against opting for lamb skin . I’ve often though she should have shown me the lamb skin as well but last year I got an Aspinal of London bag in lamb skin and I scratched it the first use and now it’s a mass of scratches so the SA did me a favour. I could have taken offence when she said if this is to be your one and only Chanel bag then it should be caviar leather. I guess she identified me being on her level rather than someone able to buy a Chanel bag every few months . Saint Laurent have been so nice to me whenever I have gone there and they usually offer drinks.
@@LouLou-qc1jp I’m wondering if it is better to go to a stand alone store rather than a concession store to get the 1-2-1 service. Like when I went to Gucci in Westfield, it was amazing. Sorry this happened to you, thist happens on a regular basis to Black people, it's about people's prejudice and assumptions that you cannot afford an item. It's important to report this sort of behaviour immediately on the day to the manager and also highlight it on Trustpilot, X and Facebook on the brands page as the negative feedback helps the brand to provide better staff training. A lot of brands now use secret shoppers to provide feedback on service to help them improve. People would literally go to that city to have that experience buying that bag or whatever. *It is NOT dealing with people who hate their jobs and customers for a bag made in a sweat shop. What is called ''luxury'' now is just a pretentious abomination.
@@cinnamongirl5410 yes I’m thinking the experiences that once was is going to fade out completely…
@@Elspm talk about a way to ruin your wedding dress try on day…. Wow…. That was definitely a ‘her’ problem not you or your sister….
And funny you say that about your Dad, my Dad an old Irish guy, who never shopped apart from to buy lucozade…. Could walk into any shop and get the best service…. He was 6 foot 2 in his hay day , and not giving off rich vibes but has this ‘walk on water’ presence too…. And he didn’t even realise it…. Sounds like 2 peas in a pod.
I have had bad experiences with MAC
Well, even if you didn't look "lovely" or didn't have money in your bank account - treating people with open hostility is not alright.
Very true…. Treat people with respect, regardless 👏🏼
Good that you spoke your mind! When I’m disrespected, I point out their disrespect out loud for everyone to hear. I’d probably say “excuse me Sir, may I ask why you approached me?” And then I’d probably lose it… I’m sorry you had to experience that but luxury really isn’t luxury anymore. I’m not interested in any LVMH brands anymore.
@@marble89 thank you… so good that you do that too…. Being composed and in control helps to get that message to those wronging the shopper, as from what I’m hearing in these messages, it’s makes people really mad….
I'm sorry that you had such a horrible experience.
Some salespeople do this as a tactic to get customers to spend more than they planned on spending to prove themselves worthy.
Thank you.
Really, that’s an angle I hadn’t considered…. Would rather do without than associate the negative experience with that purchase…..
My most satisfying moment was telling the ignorant, rude, stuck up teen counter assistant at Harvey Nicks to piss off.
@@a13xdunlop so satisfying 😜
No one with class would treat customers in this way. The guy was representing LV, he should be sacked with immediate effect. Personally speaking, DO NOT PLAY THE GAME!
@@shirleymclean5895 never owned an LV item and right at this moment I don’t plan to. Their loss.
As for Chanel I have only been in a Chanel store about 2 times as don’t feel they are welcoming. Nothing wrong with wanting a smile and a friendly face to serve you, and yes we all have bad days don’t we, but from what I am hearing there is a pattern amongst certain shops staff members
@@LouLou-qc1jp also glad you got your bags of choice from Chanel and that YSL treat you well, that’s lovely.
@Hazel Hopes You aren't missing much - these luxury bags are now made in china and other such countries - the quality is shit and they cost approximately 38$ each to make and charge you literally thousands! Same with shoes btw...
@@pinkdostoyevsky yes I heard about the recent scandal of Christian Dior, and workers conditions and the £54 to make the tote bag…. Such a shame the bubble has been burst… shame for them more so.
@@Hazelhopes And shame on THEM!
wow that's awful. I'm very much like you in that I attach emotions to inanimate objects. I can't help it. If it's possible, I wont keep whatever it is. I would much rather not have it near me and I definitely wouldn't use it. dont want the negative vibes! best wishes 🌻💐
@@mimi31268 SO glad I am not alone in this.. not many people think like me, but yeah like I’m spending money on a luxury item and you have a bad experience with the sales person, I personally not buying that item…. But many people do, I find it so strange 😜
On the whole British service in shops is better than it used to be, but because of the increase in retail thefts, there is an assumption that everyone is a thief so it's better to buy online.
@@fatimaab662 thank you for your message Fatima. And it is such a shame to be judged by peopled based on how one looks… and I really feel for people who this happens to on a regular basis… my daughter who is grown up but with a baby face used to get followed around the local CO-OP by the security for the first 2 years until he released she was 30 and a local resident!
The make so much profit and they are hounding their customers? Surely if somebody trys to steal something from the store, they can afford the loss.
@@ellietenenbaum3486 true they do make so much profit…. But also with security cameras and security guards, I wouldn’t dare anyway…. But I guess that day I looked guilty in his eyes 👀
Don't waste your time in stores like these. Soend your hard earned money in places that appreciate your custom.
Yes 100 % 👏🏼
Louis Vuitton bags are beautiful? Yes! but they are not that special anymore. Anyone have a Louis Vuitton bag and the quality is not like used to be. I have two Louis Vuitton bags and when I wear one of them, people always assume that I´m a spoil brat, arrogant and horrible person even when people don´t know me. Yes, wearing Louis Vuitton do that! I don´t like it!
That is such a shame…. As it cost a decent amount of money too.
Keep that grudge! LVMH is a horrible company. Spend it elsewhere. A friend used to work for LV and she opened my eyes to how awful they are.
@@flonotflow love it! The typical Tauren in me does hold grudges. And I think if I ever bought LV it will be a vintage preloved piece rather than from LV directly. Oh I’m
Intrigued by your friends experience….
She jokingly refers to it as the "toxic ex boyfriend". They aren't paid well, their discount is extremely limited and it's a cut throat job due to ridiculous quotas they are expected to make, pitting employees against each other. She missed her quota one time and was let go. Her pay was so poor, she had to work a second job! I'll never buy a thing from them again.
Stop! Wow. That’s so interesting. I wonder if staff that have more realistic targets are more relaxed and happier in their job. Therefore coming across happier to potential shoppers.
@@Hazelhopes You may very well be on to something. If you aren't happy in your work, you could project that towards customers. Hmmmm!
I would have bought online, (probably get a discount too) then walk past, pretty woman like, dressed up with the bag and stick my nose up at them, make them think theyve lost another commision with their attitude. Their bags are not all that exclusive anymore though. They are only sales people with jumped up ideas of their own self importance. I had a jumped up person i worked with years ago in sales. They thought they could be nasty to everyone, its jealousy that they cant afford items, so they treat the goods they are supposed to sell as their own property and dont want to sell any of it, likes its their child. The snooty madam i worked with changed her tune when she saw my car though, how could i afford that type of car on my wages. I told her if she stopped drinking she could afford one too. A great put down. Its your money and you can still get the bag without the catty shop assistants commission. They lose out with their attitude.❤Gill.
@@herrflick1244 definitely felt like doing a pretty woman moment…but also grateful for my Gucci experience which did make me feel so much better…. And they validated how wrong their behaviour was….
I’m glad you enjoy your car…. And such a shame that your co worked was so snooty towards you…. Can just imagine her at the bus stop as you whizz passed doing the V sign 😜
I went once to the LV shop at Selfridges never to repeat it. First you had to wait until the two shoppers inside were almost done, then you were let in by opening the "fence" scrutinised by the very arrogant suited bodies of the "security" ...by that time I was already tired of the charade ....then you are descended upon by very pretty/handsome SA with questions what, which, colour etc. Well, first I just wanted to see it close up and feel the leather (capucine in my case) .....but seems my body language transmitted the info that I just wasn't really interested...true, at that point I didn't want a capucine anymore....and the attitude of the SA changed 😂....I did buy a different bag at Selfridge's where the SA was a human being and knew that to buy something unnecessary but pulling on your heartstrings is not a matter of money but of a story...until today that lovely lady is my yardstick for class, joy of sharing something beautiful and earning money and respect❤
@@user-bg9ws7ys4k such a shame but so pleased you were able to have a good shopping experience elsewhere in Selfridges…. And make that relationship with an SA, for you future shopping needs

Why do you connect this "story" to the whole brand LV??????? You bring a bad shade on all employees who have a great working ethic and are really nice. I think it's not fair.
I can’t change the “story” it is an actual experience that happened…..in LV in Selfridges…. Believe me if it never happened I wouldn’t need to mention it!
