I've seen a sump described as "the lowest point of a circulation system". Of course that would mean that an elevated sump wouldn't be a sump, but... whatever, it seems a pretty good definition, that covers most things called "sump"

I see empty aquarium that will be the predator tank right? yes i will not stop until you have one so we can learn to keep them and how to take care of them so we can get them
The empty one will be a goldfish tank. The bottom one was supposed to be a saltwater tank in the future but now he is growing out the bass in it
mmm, great timing as i am wanting to re-start fish keeping & it just so happens that i have never used a sump, so this will be a great way to learn & build one.👍
