I'd miss mine sooo much... It's a wunderful and, yes, sporty car that is very underrated in my oppinion. :)
Bought mine in 2010 here in Germany from the 1st owner, MJ 2003, so it was a facelift and had ~ 24.000km on the clock for 12.5k € with the SMT 6 speed gearbox.
The SMT isn't liked from many guys but I liked it very much. Sure at first it's kinda different from MT and normal AT ones and often said 'non sporty' too. But in fact it works and goes really good
if you kinda figured out how and when up and down shift. :P For example when up shifting I'd quick noticed to short step of the gas because without the force of accelerating the shifting sequence
comes smoother and the little 'hang-up' isn't there anymore unlike you let your foot on the pedal while shifting.^^ At least that's what I 'recognised/feeled' while driving the SMT.
The 6 gears of the facelift model (as MT or SMT) are fit quite better to the MR2 W3, the 1ZZ and the all over caracteristics then the 5 speed MT of the preface one too.
Sadly I had to sold mine earlier than I could have done the thinks I wanted to do to him... But I still want one again plus realizeing what I couldn't do in the past. :p

Good to see you back :). I did the same with trim pieces on my old SP20 (protege5). Bought alot of USDM interior bits that the Aussie one didn't get. Doesn't seem like much but made mine unique 😁

That hardtop is sweet! I have an 05' MR-S with a 6spd factory manual in Solar Yellow here in Canada. Full of TRD parts, planning on 2zz swapping it near future
hey there Captain! Great to see you back posting. It's great to see that you got the hardtop!! Personally, I would remove the soft top to create a "trunk" to put bigger bags in the car.
I must say, I have mixed feelings about the K swap... it just doesn't feel right but hey, to each their own I guess.
You should've done the 2.5 from the Rav4... those can make good numbers too and you keep it in the Toyota family.
Either way, good job man!! I am exited to see all the goodies that you will put on this Mr2!!!

I’ve been watching your videos off an on for a while and love watching the JP dealership videos. I’ve been wondering: how do you travel to Japan and how would one travel there? Like what would we need to do?
I'm a hardtop guy. Convertibles don't do anything for me so hard top them all!!! Iv always likes these mr2s cus they look like a little lotus and can look really cool with a kit n mods

Good to see you back at it!! Our long wait is over!! I know you are going for a K-Swap, but there’s also an underestimated 2AR. I think is the hybrid and they swap the cams from the non-hybrid (I think that’s how it goes). The highest compression from the hybrid with the cams from the non-hybrid bump the horsepower to like 250ish. If someone knows better, please school me!! 🤣 🤣 🤣
You’re right folks have done 2AR swaps but there’s so much support for Ks right now. And aftermarket support is endless

Did ya know they sell kits to make it look like a Carrera GT? Some of those parts could be used to make a bit of a racing theme style MR2. You'd be the only one with a look like that in the U.S I am certain.
I have seen the kits..think a company in Malaysia makes them but that’s a lot of custom work and costs

1:27 did your MR-2 Rear ended or something? I notice the rear bumper is not lining up.
Carfax said minor rear end collision but the all the body parts have matching vins. I haven’t removed it yet but I’m going to try to get it to line up better

What kind of power numbers are you aiming for with the build?
I’d love to get 300whp..feel like it would be a missile. I heard guys running NA K motors are hitting 12’s
@@CaptTwo6 A tiny car like that with 300 would be prefect for touge driving. Maybe get a few maps to boost the psi? Just something thoughts(: can't wait to see what you do with it
@@CaptTwo6 Frankenstein Motorworks is getting 270whp to the wheels from the 2AR-FE without a turbo. Just another option. The K24 won't get you beyond 240whp until you turbo it. Either one is a good choice though. I am still going with the K24/K20.
