The last flight, when the lead pilot replied “great job, flight” - goose bumps right there. Awesome video documenting what I can tell was an incredible learning and flying experience. Nice one Bruno.
Bruno! Thank you for the video and commentary on the Family of Cherokees to Oshkosh. You have joined a very special and unique group of pilots for a mass arrival to Oshkosh like no other. And you have done great justice to the development and training of pilots to join our mass arrival. I have a Cherokee and a Grumman Tiger and that is the primary reason that we fly together as a melded group. As an owner of both aircraft, I would ask that all of my Grumman friends remember that it is "Cherokees to Oshkosh" though we welcome our Grumman family to the fold. (Sorry, my Cherokee friends are a little sensitive about that ;-) Ed LeBlanc has taken on the duty of Director of Operations (no small task) and done an amazing job of revitalizing safety and training for all participants. I am especially pleased that your wife Juliana has been able to adjust to the tasks you must do. (Especially since my Grand-daughter is named Juliana!) She will be a great help to you in maintaining position and orientation with the rest of the flight. Your right-seater is more important than you know. Thank you Juliana! Looking forward to meeting you and Juliana at Oshkosh. Ferg (Dwane Ferguson) Former Director Air Operations, Cherokees to Oshkosh
Hey Ferg! Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words. I had the best absolute best time with the group, and I’m really looking forward to my first Mass Arrival! See you at CWA in 2 weeks!
I imagine there’s a lot of trust involved with formation flying, once you have that trust, knowledge and skill, the stress just melts away! Great video Bruno!
Yes, Peter! Formation-flying is a team sport. Each pilot is responsible for everyone else’s safety, and we are always relying on each other to do the right thing and stay safe. It’s really humbling!
Bruno, that was a very impressive video. I think I was most impressed about your idea to fly with your wife in the formation and explain to her what was happening. That was brilliant. I have personally flown formation into Oshkosh for quite a few years now as part of the B2OSH group in our turbo-normalized Bonanza. Will do again this year and maybe we’ll see each other at the North 40. Cherokees always hold a dear place in my heart as my dad’s Cherokee Arrow is what I learned to fly in when I was a kid. He still owns that plane and it is part of the family.
Hey buddy! That's amazing, and thank you so much for the kind words. I immediately knew that getting my wife comfortable with the whole experience would be essential, as a passenger who's scared or concerned could quickly become a safety hazard during a mass arrival. She's much better now, but she says she's still scared of it haha Hopefully I'll see you at OSH! My plane will be at the AOPA booth this year, so you'll likely see it too :)
I’ll look for it. Congrats on being the AOPA showplane. Our plane will be parked at the North 40 campground area (we stay at the Hilton). It is N369G and my name is Cam Gulley.
Looks amazing! I was hoping to do the Cessna Mass Arrival this year; but it was (effectively) cancelled. Something happened last year, so this year it's restricted to planes with 180hp or more, and pilots who've done the mass arrival before... and then only to 50 aircraft. I'll just have to go it alone. Stop by and say hello - my plane C-FMVU will be on display at the Dynon tent all week.
Sorry to hear about the Cessnas mass arrival. My plane will be at the AOPA booth this year, so stop by! I’ll come to the Dynon tent to see yours :) see you at OSH!
Bruno…. GREAT video. Your detailed description of the weekend event/training has inspired me to give it a try next year. I’ll keep an eye out for the events. Maybe they will do it again in my hometown of Columbus, OH…. Grumman N256GT

Thank you so much! That was an amazing flight, felt like the prize for all the hard work of the previous day.

"The" wife- that's the proper title!
😅😅😅
Sir what will be the total cost for CPL?
I'm not sure because I haven't done it yet, but it *should* be considerably cheaper than PPL/IR given it requires less flight hours. Hope this helps!
