I have filed i-130 for my second wife and I got remarried at 2016. My i-130 is approved and my wife is going to attend her interview at embassy in Islamabad. I had an 50 rupee (Talaq) divorce stamp paper and I also got a Union Council issued divorce certificate from Pakistan for my first marriage. I didn't know that the Union Council's issued divorce certificate will be enough so I submitted both the rupee stamp paper and the Union Council issued divorce certificate to the USCIS and NVC. They approved both but some websites says the embassy will not accept the divorce rupee stamp paper. Will that be a problem for my wife immigrant visa interview? should my wife show the rupee stamp paper or only show the Union Council issued divorce certificate or show both of them? please let me know, thanks a lot.

I'm a US citizen but my ex isn't and he never lived in the US, never registered or nothing. Now I want to get married in the US, do I have to report that I was married and divorced abroad? Thank you

Thank you for all the good information. My son and his wife were married in Thailand. We have been told that there are still a few States in the US that do not recognize international marriages, so check with the Attorney General's office in your state. When I contacted them, they emailed me to state that the Attorney General's office for the state of South Carolina does not recognize international marriages. Does this mean they have to remarry in South Carolina for state tax purposes?
