I have been suspended for the last twenty minutes in a beautiful experience of sailing the Greek Islands of the Ionian Sea with Phillip ,Anna And the girls. Feeling the heat,then sometimes the breeze. The effervescance of a billion bubbles pop around us as the waters cool us off,The taste of good food at days end. The sheer joy of Phillip and Anna sailing. Phillips dream realized ,if only for this time. The hopes and possabilities planted in the minds of everyone what future sailings adventures could be like, MAGIC!!!! Sheer magic. Thank you for bringing us all along.

As a fellow daughter of a sailor, I just LOVED this video. I have been following your channel for a couple of years because I love chateaus but I loved this even more because it reminded me of family vacation on our boat when I was little: picking up shells, morning swims, never knowing where we will spend the night, but it didn't matter because the place would be beautiful anyways. You're really giving an incredible gift to your little girls by experiencing this.
Those little girls! Such a delight. I miss those days when my daughter and then granddaughter were that age. The giggling and sound of them loving life. The best. Enjoy every minute. In the blink of an eye they will be asking for the keys to the car.
My parents were sailors. We had a 42' sailboat and spent a lot of time travelling Lake Michigan and Lake Huron and Lake Erie. When they were 60 they decided to take 3 weeks to sail the Georgian Bay in Canada. Unbeknownst to them, the rudder had a hairline crack and over the years had been taking on water until one day it became so heavy it broke away and sank in 300' of water. They had to be towed to the nearest harbor, a town of about 1000 people. He had to rent a car to drive 7 hours to Toledo (about an hour south of Detroit), pick up a new rudder that the boat builder shipped by rail car (thousands of dollars), strap it to the roof, and drive back into Canada. Then they had to hire two men with scuba gear to get into the water and attach it to the boat. They resumed their journey for a few weeks and had a lovely time. Upon their intended return the diesel motor died and they had to spend a week waiting for parts and then pay a mechanic to fix the boat. Anyway, upon return to home part in Toledo, my mom was below deck and dad called out to her to help with the docking. She came up on deck with a shirt cardboard on which she had written, in red lipstick, FOR SALE. That was the end of 30 years of sailing. Had to share :)
I’ve grown up a few blocks from Lake Michigan, I would have left the boat and never gone back after getting stranded at 300 feet, wow. But I am not a sailor

It so reminded of me and my little sister doing the same thing at the age of 5 in those very waters. The way the waves meet the land is so welcoming that makes you want to play with them. Glad they chose Ionian Sea, the Aegean one would have been too rough for the kids. It would be a good idea to have hired a skipper though, there are places one cannot see without one and the waters can be tricky at times (have been sailing the Greek islands for 25 years, you can take my word for this lol). Great trip!
My husband has been a commercial fisherman for 50 years. I fished with him for 4 years and we fished in Canadian waters very close to Alaska. I have see the most beautiful nature that most people do not get to experience. White Black Bears (Kermode), been so close to Humpback Whales and Killer Whales you could touch them. So much beauty in the scenery. But I have also kissed death and have a respect for Mother Nature. She can be so peaceful and so nasty. Glad you saw her peaceful side. Greece is so beautiful and the people so lovely. ❤

Im so happy for you, Lefkada and Ithaki are the best islands in Greece for sailing in my opinion, that's why you saw so many other boats around. I'ts been more than 15 years that I travelled to Lefkada and it feels like yesterday, no camera can capture this amazing green waters. I'm glad that you liked my country! So pitty Greeks can't afford to visit most of our islands.
How wonderful❣️Here you are living the other half of your big dream. I love the way you ended the video with the girls in their lovely summer dresses jumping delightedly in the gentle shorebreak. I was a livaboard yachty during my teen years. Our family sailed a 36’ sloop from San Francisco to Hawaii. I grew up in Lahaina, which has recently burned to the ground beyond recognition, so tragic. Hawaiians are survivors and they will persevere and eventually rebuild. My brother survived, but his belongings, other than 3 surfboards and a truck, burned. We were fortunate to sail to the Marquesas islands during the summer I turned 16 (1977). So many amazing memories. Your girls will never forget the adventures you are providing. Cheers! It's always a good idea to take a CPR course and have a well stocked first aid kit onboard with chemical Ice packs that you just pop the inside to activate no need to put in cooler. Bruising is painful and will leave a mark. Sailing is fun and also a teachable moment and I'm glad your children are learning about the world they live in. You both are very fortunate to have this adventure. Enjoy, it looks like fun and beautiful. Stay safe!
Phillip you answered your own question....when you own your own boat you are limited to 100 miles from home port. Plus maintenance and not having the charter company teaching you when things happen. When you charter a boat, you can go ANYWHERE in the world!! When your done you and your family step off and go home, n I t working about maintenance, moorings,launch and hall.....your girls have quickly become comfortable in and around the water! ANNA has become an able seaman,. You andyourkids will have amazing memories along with now knowing how to slow down and look around! Nothing like sleeping on board wearer overnight or beautiful naps! Get something small like a Laser to just get out on the water near home I bet youcancharter anything near home as well if you need a few day's on the water, but the freedom to walk off a boat at the end of charter and not have to think about fixing,cleaning maintenance etc. Is priceless. The color of the sea around Greece is simply exquisite!!! I think there is even a color called Ionian Blue, although it doesn't capture the true brilliance of the sea & is too green. The colors go from azure or lapis deep-blue to turquoise ...breathtaking!!

I missed much of this so rewatching from the top. I absolutely love the Ionians and sailing there is a breeze with virtually no charts needed, no hidden underwater hazards. All the Islands are beautiful and different and the water crystal, many coasts full of pretty grottos to snorkel etc. It's a great place to just go for a week or two as well. Zakynthos for seaturtles, Paxos for hitting coves to snorkel and sunbathe with nobody there (from the seaside) Cephalonia for a perfect holiday with great public busses taking you all around, also to Ithaca, so much more... Everyone has to go at lest once to this area! This brings back memories! But besides the great ones also my first and only experience being severely seasick, thought I was dying... I got over it. I learned to not sail on an empty stomach drinking alkohol. (!) Haha i was young sailing there. But I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Magical. So lovely to see your girls experience this adventure. Unforgettable memories for all of you. ❤❤❤

I just hijacked my wife’s iPad as last night we watched your travel blog in the Greek Islands and loved every moment of it, well done. We actually feel “part of the family”, having been following you since you bought the Chateau. This escapade to the Greek Islands was superb. Good filming and good music as usual, nice editing. We admire you for your hard work in your renovation project and it was nice to see the two of you and the girls having such fun. A few years ago, I helped a friend take a motor catamaran from Karpathos to Kalamata. The islands we stopped at were lovely, but nothing like your stopovers which you showed us, besides that it was good to see you mostly had nice weather. In this modern world, one appreciates the humbleness and simplicity of Greece even more. Thank you for sharing these precious moments with us and all your followers. Great video, I had forgotten how the blue the sea is around the Greek islands. We backpacked around the Ionians in 1998 and this bought back many memories. You all looked so happy and having a great time.

Took me back to my young adult years sailing in Canada, where we live. Sailing is a fabulous life, calm , peaceful, quiet, and then all hands on deck in storms and stretching abdominals as you hang horizontal over the side of the boat to stop it tipping! Lovely to see Lily and Ella enjoying the ocean and becoming adept at underwater exploration. Loved seeing Philipp hang onto Ella's life jacket while she confidently rowed the boat ashore! Good to see you all again.

A truly enchanting video, it was so lovely to see the entire family on holiday relaxing in the clear water and fresh air and the girls swimming like little seals. They swim so well and so fearlessly, I was surprised and then I realized I would have assumed they were land creatures due to growing up in the UK and France. Where in the world did they get to swim like that?! And Anna and Philipp too!!
The UK is an island! I am a water baby, in on and under 😊 France has some of the best sailors in the world, the Vendee, Sail GP, round the world - loads of these are French.

Looks like you all enjoyed this, you are quite the seafaring family! I know Philipp is looking forward to the day that he has his own boat & I'm sure that you will all become excellent sailors on the deep blue sea. Ella is right, the water is pretty, as is all the scenery.
It all looked wonderful, but for me the best bit was at the end, seeing your girls in their pretty dresses giggling whilst jumping the waves!

I missed much of this so rewatching from the top. I absolutely love the Ionians and sailing there is a breeze with virtually no charts needed, no hidden underwater hazards. All the Islands are beautiful and different and the water crystal, many coasts full of pretty grottos to snorkel etc. It's a great place to just go for a week or two as well. Zakynthos for seaturtles, Paxos for hitting coves to snorkel and sunbathe with nobody there (from the seaside) Cephalonia for a perfect holiday with great public busses taking you all around, also to Ithaca, so much more... Everyone has to go at lest once to this area!
This brings back memories! But besides the great ones also my first and only experience being severely seasick, thought I was dying... I got over it. I learned to not sail on an empty stomach drinking alkohol. (!) Haha i was young sailing there. But I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Magical. So lovely to see your girls experience this adventure. Unforgettable memories for all of you. ❤❤❤

I just hijacked my wife’s iPad as last night we watched your travel blog in the Greek Islands and loved every moment of it, well done. We actually feel “part of the family”, having been following you since you bought the Chateau. This escapade to the Greek Islands was superb. Good filming and good music as usual, nice editing. We admire you for your hard work in your renovation project and it was nice to see the two of you and the girls having such fun. A few years ago, I helped a friend take a motor catamaran from Karpathos to Kalamata. The islands we stopped at were lovely, but nothing like your stopovers which you showed us, besides that it was good to see you mostly had nice weather. In this modern world, one appreciates the humbleness and simplicity of Greece even more. Thank you for sharing these precious moments with us and all your followers. You deserved this super holiday and we hope it is only the first of many more. Piero (Lugano).

Great video, I had forgotten how the blue the sea is around the Greek islands. We backpacked around the Ionians in 1998 and this bought back many memories. You all looked so happy and having a great time.

Wonderful, and Thank you to Squarespace for funding the video! It was good to once again accompany you on another adventure, this time under sail. Took me back to my young adult years sailing in Canada, where we live. Sailing is a fabulous life, calm , peaceful, quiet, and then all hands on deck in storms and stretching abdominals as you hang horizontal over the side of the boat to stop it tipping! Lovely to see Lily and Ella enjoying the ocean and becoming adept at underwater exploration. Loved seeing Philipp hang onto Ella's life jacket while she confidently rowed the boat ashore! Good to see you all again.

A truly enchanting video, it was so lovely to see the entire family on holiday relaxing in the clear water and fresh air and the girls swimming like little seals. They swim so well and so fearlessly, I was surprised and then I realized I would have assumed they were land creatures due to growing up in the UK and France. Where in the world did they get to swim like that?! And Anna and Philipp too!!

France has some of the best sailors in the world, the Vendee, Sail GP, round the world - loads of these are French.

It’s great to see you all enjoying the waters of Greece….crystal clear. The islands are quite sparse, even barron, but the beautiful clear-waters and wonderful food is spectacular.
