Rumba Guarapachangueo on Conga Drums!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 11 гру 2024
- The "Guarapachangueo” is a newer style of Rumba created in the neighborhood of La Corea in Havana by a family of rumberos nicknamed "Los Chinitos”. This ensemble family consists of Bertico, Reynaldo, Pedro, Irián and Manley Lopez. Rumba Guarapachangueo is a rich and complicated rhythm, making this video lesson more suitable for intermediate and advanced players. Instructor Edgardo Cambon demonstrates Gurapachangueo on one, two and three Tumbadoras (Conga drums).

I love your tutorials. Been years since I played, but your tutorials are. Ringing me back to life and refreshing so many basic concepts and rudiments I've forgotten🙏🏾
Clearly demonstrated, that's good.
Everytime you play and teach very good Dance Papi. Thank you very much 😊
Very good easy to pick up lessons
Excelente la demostración muchas gracias!!!
Best instructional videos on UA-cam. Edgardo is the man!
Gracias!
I have a suggestion for Dance Papi! For many years Edgardo's video tutorials have been added to my bookmarks list as I learned about them. A compilation of them, in one collection, would make a substantial contribution to the study of this marvelous music and Mr. Cambon's unique ability to convey the essence of the rhythms he demonstrates. His body of knowledge deserves a wider distribution. Love it!

Edgardo! Siempre me acuerdo cuando viniste a casa a visitar a Julio Perez y hablaste de los grandes en Cuba y de las clases que te dieron. Eres tremendo músico y maestro! Da mucho gusto verlo por este medio 🪘

Glad it was helpful!
Edgardo....you must go thru many congas.....because your hands are always on fire!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Casualmente mi banda se llama “Candela”. Gracias por tu comentario. Feliz año!
After having said maybe need to slow down .It's ok I have got the combination from one tom to the other.I get there eventually.Yes it's not easy rhythm.
Everything starts with music and rhythms;) great vid
great video as usual! so glad you blessed us with another one! I would love to see you revisit the Guaguanco again, but this time focusing on showing
the different ways to play with three drums. happy holidays and thank you!
Good idea Kosmon. I Love Rumba, so that revisit en expanding Guaguancó idea is a good one always. Be safe and Happy 2021!
Roberto Vizcaino Guillot - played with Gonzalo Rubalcaba's amazing group in the 80s
Hi Curtis, yes indeed. “Grupo Proyecto”, which I saw a couple of times live in Cuba, and another at the notorious North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland in the mid 80’s. Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez on drums, Gonzalo Rubalcaba on Piano, Vizcaino on percussions and a luminary line up of young “monster”players on bass and a horn section (I don’t recall everyones names, sorry). That Band was way ahead of its time! Roberto Vizcaino blew my mind with his impressive independence, playing (for instance) a full sounding one handed “Marcha” or Tumbao at a fast speed, WHILE playing a great Timbales sólo with the other. Unfortunately (I hope I am wrong), the band never recorded... Thanks for your comment.
Feliz Navidad, love u all!
THANK YOU
Maestraso!
Gracias Daniel!
Muy buena.
Parece que esta en florida. O maybe en cuba. Todavia tratando de ser mejor bogocero. I have a long way to go. Pero me entretengo tratando. Todo bien aca en hamden,ct con mi familia. Hope you y su familia estan bien merry Christmas and feliz ano nuevo
Muchas gracias Piri...
@@Eddysuconga thank you for the lesson it has really expanded my conga vocabulary. Is LP selling those drums? I can’t find them you could email me any information?
Lucasjsantana@yahoo.com
Gracias
Have you visited the conga room in California. Jimmy smitts y poncho sanchez hang out there. Or used to
@@pirihern9329 Do you mean the Conga Room in LA right? No I have not been there, but if you are talking about the Conga Room Club (LA), I played outdoors in the square where it is located, it was called Nokia Theatre, we did a private event with my Band for the Home Depot corporation, right under the Conga Room, on a Wednesday and the Club was closed. The only Club that I played at in LA is “El Floridita” a famous but tinny little place in LA.
@@borichongo .... I am sorry to say that they are not offered online or anywhere that I see... I am going to ask the LP Artist rep to see if they can still be somewhat purchased, but I cant make any promises as with the current situation (pandemic, etc) things are moving slow for everyone, here isn USA and in Thailand where the company makes them. Sorry about that brother.
Great video...will work on this. Also, where can I get a t-shirt like that...LOVE THE GRAPHICS!

I must admit the later stage of the video maybe needs slowing down and shown in stages like most of dance papi videos.
Thanks so much for this instructional video Edgardo!
Is there anyway you could provide information on where you purchased your great looking shirt?
Hi Ponch. Visit:

Hi Ponch : estiloclothing.com/ Great clothing and T-Shirts. Thanks for checking the video, if you liked it, please subscribe. Be safe and Bes to you on 2021
Dance Papi thanks so much and Happy Holidays to you and your Familia!
Why the tape under the head?
George, The Remo head on that drum was having some overtones I did not like, and thus the tape. Thanks for checking the video. Be safe and Happy 2021.
Good to know
Hi, I was going to ask the same question, then I decided to look in the coments and here's the answer.
Thanks...
This is a brain teaser once you start moving to that Tres Gulpes
Happy practicing! :-)
Hey Edgardo! I've been watching your videos for a few years now, love your explanations! Btw, my dad sells a tongue drum he invented. Its called a "rekonga". It would mean so much to him if you could check him out!!! His website is Rekongadrums.com
Everything's a bit quiet!
Hi, Thanks for telling us (me)... I wonder if it is your system somewhere along the way you are listening to the video, because I hear it in my computer and audio system just fine, and I even checked it on my phone and there is plenty of volume. I wish I could help you about that further. Thanks.
@@Eddysuconga
Just tried again, boss. It's maybe half the volume of other videos. Might just remain a mystery.
Peace!
