MaGMML3 - Wily Rooms of Weapons (

  • None of the rooms are 'Wily' shaped as the title might suggest. It's purely a puzzle-oriented stage, where the goal is reaching the other teleporter in each of the 5 rooms to unlock the way to the end boss, and you do so with forced weapon usage. You get unlimited ammo for all of them, however you can only use one at a time and picking up another one overwrites the currently equipped weapon.
    There's no way to reclaim a swapped-off weapons as there's only one of each enemy in every room that drops them that can't be respawned without restarting the whole room. That lends itself to examining the rooms first, then get the weapons in the order you need them (It also lends itself to trial & error gameplay and being unable to quick-switch off a misplaced Ice Wall... *sigh*). If grabbing the tokens isn't a concern, it's not too bad getting through each rooms quickly.
    The boss is pretty static on what it does; it's more of an endurance match that's about picking up the weapon weakness it drops periodically. Kinda funny how it uses the corresponding enemies as projectiles for its attacks.
    The moment it switches to the Break Dash weakness while still touching the ground, it immediately fires a Molier which caught me off-guard on multiple occasions. Oh, and there's a safe-spot for the Water Shield phase around the corners of the room that's notable for a no-hit run.
    What's more puzzling to me is the leaderboard with the sub 3 minutes clears. Are these remnants of an already patched exploit, or is there some sort of skip I don't know about, like a method to despawn the weapon barrier blocks without completing any of the puzzles? In any case, I did things the glitchless and legitimate way.
    I'd say my run's fairly well optimized with a few minor mistakes. In room 2, I switched off the Blue Wall before Molier could hit it from the left side, making me wait until it turned around. In room 3, there's the trick with the Ice Wall I couldn't pull off, where you can snap on top of it as it falls with a well-timed slide, then you'll be in position to start sliding into the gap right away. Then at the boss, I missed picking up Water Shield out of the Break Dash.
    I turned off checkpoint notifications just for this stage alone; you get checkpointed before AND after entering each teleporter, thus constantly getting spammed with them. And yeah, I unironically like Taco Man's stage music. What you gonna do about it? Cover your ears and shake your head in agony? :smirk:
