What is the lever under the shift knob for? I'm working on a 29 AA fire truck and can't find anything on it

Hello. Its the so called "Latch Trigger".
To shift into reverse from neutral press the release catch on the side of the lever, located just below the gear shift lever ball, and move the lever to the extreme right out of range of the forward speeds, then directly back into reverse gear. The release catch is easily operated by the driver's thumb, making it possible to go into reverse gear with one movement.
      I hope that helps!

@@hunting4177 you can try to find one from GAZ model 51 (it still has a lot of transmission parts from Ford AA model includig that lever : АА-7215 )

@@napalmv8356 These gearboxes were used in Gaz 51 and its Polish copy Lublin 51. They were also used in Gaz 63 and Gaz 52,53. Modified were used in gaz 66. Casting were different. Gears had oblique teeths and whole gearbox was synhronized. Gear ratio input shaft was the same. Gearboxes are interchangeable.

Are the gears on the four-speed more evenly spaced then on the model a three speed, or does it just add a creeper gear? Thank you in advance.
