This is great! Very good. I make my own cabochons in glass and wanted to make bezels, i will try your method. The sawing of the silver is with a machine? Or manual?
There's always something new to learn and it's honestly very exciting! 😊 I love following Metalsmith Society page, the tips that makers share there are awesome and often very clever! 😀
I didn't know the nails buyffins sticks for polishing and the SCISSORS to make bezels!! LOL WHAT?! (my mind exploded hahaha). Thank you! So useful ❤️❤️
yay!! I'm so happy there were some you didn't know, so happy you enjoyed it! 😊😀 I love the scissors, they are called craft scissors, or children's craft scissors, something like this, I hope you'll be able to find them!
This one is amazing!! The tiny bezels made with gallery wire hurt my fingers too many times. I'm so happy ladies shared this tip to the Metalsmith Society page! Life saver 😊
Yep my poor fingers were getting SO CHEWED UP!! Thankfully the eraser happened to be on my bench from doing some sketches and my most favorite hack was born😁🙏❤
Woowww...I just start making jewelry and I am really amazed. The Scissors and Eraser are the best top for me. I am really thankful you shared your knowledge.
Wow this was one of the best tip videos I’ve seen! I’m not a silversmith but getting into electroforming, and these are so helpful! I love the decorative scissor idea 😱 It was so great to see a video with actual creative tips rather than the typical universally known tips out there. Thank you for this amazing video!!!
@@TheArtOfMetalsmithing yes I would love that!! I just got a bunch of cabs in and have been watching all of your cab videos. Will be doing my own cab collection video soon with some storage tips and will definitely mention you in my video! I’m sure a lot of my subscribers would adore your work🥰🌸🙌🏼
Thank you Basia, this is a fantastic little video, crammed with plenty of useful tips to make things easier! You’re so generous with your knowledge and all you have learned 🤩🤘
awesome!! I'm so happy you think so and enjoyed it! 😄 It was a lot of fun to make, and honestly, all of these tricks help me tremendously every day 😊 Thank you!
right?? It's awesome :) But make sure it is a soft, FINE silver bezel wire! 😄 I don't think you'd be able to cut the sterling silver at all with these! 😄
Wow, what an awesome video! You always have such great content but this video had so many simple tips that would’ve taken me a lot of trial and error to figure out on my own. It’s so much better than recreating the wheel. I loved the double sided tape trick, it beats glueing images onto metal like I have been doing! Also the sharpie and the decorative scissors tricks will serve me well in the future. Thanks so much for doing you and putting it out for us all to benefit from! ❤️
Honestly, your comment absolutely made my day! I appreciate it a lot, thank you for the sweetest feedback ❤️ I know what you mean, the tips that other makers submit to Metalsmith Society page, or share on their own profiles, like Kim, are truly a life savers sometimes! I used to pickle tiny discs for my jewellery and would always move them one by one, but then one day I just realised, why not use a little container with holes and move them all at once?? Or even better - use a little strainer 😄 Same with the double sided tape. Been using this one almost since I've started and never looked back. Less cleaning, quicker to do, I love it.
@@TheArtOfMetalsmithing I am glad I could have a positive impact on your day because you are a constant help and inspiration to me on UA-cam and Instagram. I actually just watched your video on people to look into and have already found so many helpful tips on the Metalsmith society page! As of now I am mostly doing wire work and using beads but I have recently upgraded to sheet metal (copper and brass as of now). Next step is soldering and setting stones. There is always room for improvement and more things to learn so thank you for all the great advice and wisdom you put out there. You have helped me with everything from photography, tools, tips and even just watching you work at your bench. It was awesome to see how your work day flows and to see so many similarities between my day and yours. It made me feel like I am on the right path towards success!
Basia, my maiden name is Badia ... your name so close! Anyway I absolutely love your videos I’m so grateful for them. Not only are they so informative but they’re very relaxing to me your style is perfect for relaxing and learning. Do you have a link by any chance for the refillable pin for the patina?
I didnt say... you just ball some up and give a good downward push mostly it comes out first time... modelling wax can also be used. i have mine stuck to the upright of flexshaft within reach
@@janicesymonds6677 perfect, I appreciate you sharing it! I will get some and will kep it handy too :) Sounds like it would be a life saver if the floss slips from underneath the stone (happened to me before!). This trick would save the day!
Are your bezels 100% silver? They look so easy to bend. Your channel really inspire me!! I really want to keep learning. Thank you for showing us all of this!! 🙏🏻
Yes, the bezel wires (smaller and bigger) are both fine silver. That's why they are also easy to cut with these craft scissors. These decorative gallery wires are sterling silver. Thank you so much for watching! :) 💗
So many nice tips :D Thank you :D The bezel strip sample was really neat idea. And the eraser. Did you buy the tape online? I cannot for the life of me find a thin tape, in the stores here i only find really thick ones :( Could you make a video on sanding and polishing the jewelry? =) And also do you know if the radial bristle wheels can be bought in a set? Have you tried the ones they sell on amazon that are not the brand 3M? A lot of questions here, sorry xD
Hi! Thank you for watching! 😊 I found the tape at my local pound shop. And honestly that's the only place I bought it from, so I don't have other recommndations, sorry! As for the bristle discs, I haven't bought those other ones from amazon, I only got them from Cooksongold and from Cousins. I also tried Dedeco from Pepetools, they are awesome too
