I appreciate the volunteers and organizers but it infuriates me that we need their services here in the U.S...We are supposed to be the beacon the on the hill but that appears to no longer be the case.
Years ago, I went for a routine dental checkup with dental insurance from my mother who was a store manager for a large multi location company. Turned out I had periodontitis which wasn’t seen the year before, needed to have all front teeth and some back teeth pulled, and crowned , a procedure that would cost me over $6k out of pocket after insurance when I was just a highschool student, and my family leaves paycheck to paycheck. I left unable to pay, and the routine cleaning never having been done. Bering told writhing a couple months all my teeth would fall out Years later, I’m in college with severe tooth loss about 5 total lost, bc I regrettably had not stepped in a dental clinic thinking I needed $6k first, and all around anxious/afraid. My goal was always to save up enough to add to insurance and go back, but that’s not easy as a student. I’m glad this year, my school UNT is partnering with RAM to bring the clinic close to our town in 7 months. I’ll be happy with any solution that allows me to be confident in myself as I’m still a social young man. Masks have helped keep me sociable, but I’m filled with extreme fear and anxiety knowing I likely won’t be able to land a job should I fail to get a dental procedure done. Unfortunately, my story isn’t at all unique and I’m grateful for RAM’s mission to aid because I know plenty of people like me who have been silently suffering unable to get full coverage medical.
