One think I noticed is up to around 1972, Yonkers would switch cameras to show them on the backstretch instead of just staying with the traditional pan shot. Was there some sort of agreement until 1972 they were forbidden from showing the view behind the backstretch and/or the paddock area?
Guessing this was a sloppy track as even by 1964 standards, those were very slow fractions for these horses (I'm guessing they went over 2:05 for the mile).
The announcer was Lou O'Neil. He did call the entire field at least once & the horses that had any shot. It was a showcase race for CB so my take is that he wanted to focus on CB and give him as much attention as possible. The next week he was up against the mighty OVERTRICK in the Good Time Pace.
I fondly remember Cardigan Bay. A true Champion!!!
Cardigan Bay: what a complete soldier.
What a Champ!

My take is Yonkers & Hollywood park used the kinescope system(google it for how it worked with cameras) for their races and maybe Roosevelt.
@@harnessdomYonkers didn't use kinescope. That was clearly videotape. Roosevelt did use film until 1973 when we first started seeing races on tape.
Commentators over there are devoid of colour and description. A shame really
Looked like Bondi beach

Eight horses in the race. I don't think the announcer, at any point, went through the whole field. He kept coming back to horses 1-2-3-4 ...

Only once ...
