Wow, unbelievable that this was recorded in 1989!
legend. so underrated and so influential. The logography, the VOCALS, the vibe. and all in the 80's between Bathory and Darkthrone. Bathory, Masters Hammer, Darkthrone, Burzum, Morbid, Enslaved, Mutiilation..... 87-92/94 was the FUCKING ERA.
The golden years of Black Metal! Master's Hammer rules!
Hails!! True gem for its time and timeless !! 1989 !! Hails to old school BM !!
The real deal.. I love them!
"MEGATHANX TO:...Storm's grandmother (I know very well that you are still here)"
Master's hammer rule supreme. Back in time when our beloved Norwegian penguins were doing covers on Entombed and Unleashed. It's nice however they (like Fenriz) admit that it was Eastern Europe who pioneered this "transylvanian" side of black metal spectrum, that Mayhem cultivated. Tormentor Anno domini is another example.
Beast Whisperer you're right! Polish Imperator was also important in creation of tnbm sound, that's why Euronymous wanted them in Deathlike Silence back then. Eastern European metal was, is and is going to be something special! :-)
These guys are more Central European than anything, but could also be conceivably considered "Eastern European" in the sense that they are culturally part of the Slavosphere, albeit on the western edge of it, in the Czech Republic.
Czech black metal has definitely got its own style, and I'm surprised that there are so many pioneering bands from the Czech Republic that started out so relatively early (1987- onward) in the evolution of black metal.
its lost its specific vibe I'm afraid
well, yes and no. hungary is/was considered east euro but they aint Slavic. the east euro was more or less a goodterm to describe the east block up till 1989. now there is no difference between metal underground in western Europe/usa and central Europe (Czech rep, Poland, hungary). the real eastrern Europe is now CIS = Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and so on.
There was a whole worldwide scene before the Norwegians. Samael, Rotting Christ, Beherit, Necromantia, Blasphemy, Master’s Hammer and many more nevermind the pioneers with “under the sign of the black mark” Bathory. The Norwegians are full of shit ....
I just recently was introduced to them. Fuckin amazing! I'm hooked
Master's Hammer ahead of it's time for like 20 years...
Well, Norwegian Black Metal came about 2 years later...

Signum Diabolis. Diabolical strongers of invocation things.
These recordings are so much better than Ritual and it’s not even close. Never was a big fan of that album, but if it had this sound, I would be
KONEČNĚ TO NĚKDO ŘEKL

Anyone else who owns this original demo tape sound nothing as clear as this? Mines is very low fidelity and low quality overall
Hey, two years later, but I got the OG demo a few months ago in black studio tape and a thick low quality booklet from an Polish guy. The cover, text and band pic are all blurry like it was made in a 80's printer and it's nothing detailed like the image in this video or even Discogs, but the sound of the cassette still remains clear and analogue as fukk!
I reckon its been altered with.... and are wrong sounding from the original..
The Czech language sounds extremely evil NGL
Only when Franta Štorm sings tho
True black metalllll
When Black Metal was still original....
You cutted the whole damn intro!
Alebo: vonku zurila revolucia a oni si nahravali blackmetal! 😁😘
jako velka rijnova socialisticka revoluce ??
They never reached the heights of their demos in any of their albums, even their debut sounded too clean and not as atmospheric.
I disagree. The instumentals are probably better on this, except for guitar and I absolutely love the vocals on Ritual. However these demos are still great and the big use of timpanis only make it better.
typical bm nonsense only raw demo is the best sound, the first studio lp is much better sound then this demo
...a doo tretice: FANOUŠKU, NEBYLO UŽ DOST TĚCH ZVÍŘECÍCH ZVUKŮ? 😂
Seriously, everything norwegians tried to emulate in the 90s was being doing in the 80s, i dont get it, wtf is nowergian black metal? Their sound is 90% Bathory and other bands that were also influenced by Bathory, like Masters Hammer. Theres nothing special in the nowergian scene, the only thing they do is tremolo picking over and over, and being repetitive as fuck. 80s Black Metal is the only Black Metal.
black metal as presented from norway is the most boring sound ever, never understand the hype about shitty sound with donald duck vocals and stupid face painting - yeah that metal suck
@@tomaskorenek1259 indeed
There's certainly a certain sound to Norwegian black metal that's recognizable, all the stuff from 90/93 is gold. Having said that the whole scene is WAAYYYYY overrated and so overplayed I can't listen to it anymore so I share the sentiment to an extent.
the only reason the norwegian scene is so popular is because of all the edgelord drama, murders, church burnings, etc., as such people are attracted to it for all the wrong, extra-musical reasons, because they think it makes them look cool or mysterious or whatever. the music is incredibly boring. venom created black metal, it got further developed by bands in the mid-80s and it was taken to its logical extreme by blasphemy, which were all accidental forms of expression and, therefore, natural and organic. by contrast, the norwegian scene was a conscious move towards atmosphere and being "evil", resulting in the most try-hard, goofy shit i've ever heard. it's ok to be goofy but at least have some self-awareness (which at least immortal did), you know?
@@mimoso5335 100% the reason for that scene blowing up is not about the music at all. Having said that, they did have a sound, most of them were heavily influenced by electronic music (mostly 70s German krautrock) and wanted that element of transe and repetition in their music leading to stuff like Burzum and albums like Transilvanian hunger which are quite far removed from Venom and Blasphemy's sound. Whether you find it boring or not is not relevant for this argument.
