People bitching about shipping don't need this luxury stick. By the way, this is the best stick I have ever owned. It oozes quality from the initial unboxing to assembly and use.
Personal analysis: Worth it? 100%.
I've recently received my VKB Gladiator NXT EVO's with the SCG and have been daily driving them since the day before Thanksgiving. There is almost nothing I could count as a negative about them, they're just that good. They've completely changed the way I play Star Citizen.
Quick comment for people who don't mount their sticks at a lower level and just set them on their desks. If you're thinking about the Omni-Throttle I would order the "Grip conversion kit" adapter to convert it to a standard stick for $20 more, just in case. I found the Omni-Throttle twist grip angle to be very uncomfortable on my wrist at desk height on the twist axis. If I could adjust it, the Omni-Throttle would be amazing for me. Twin VKB Gladiator NXT EVO's in their standard stick configurations have been a game changer for me coming from HOTAS. Highly recommend if you have the monies.
Great advice! ❤️
The biggest issue with the price point of this hardware is the shipping.
Is it? I guess it depends where you order this
ordered mine today paid $60 extra@@Nyxson
@@reel8453 I ordered on Black Friday, paid $57 in shipping. That shipping cost takes the fun out of it for sure.
@Nyxson he is not wrong. Even for USA shipping its an entire $40 extra. Insane. Ive had car parts twice as large ship for half that price.
@2012UA-camWasBetter I think it's because they ship from China (might be wrong).
That's a downside of all enthusiasts tech….
Really well done review. Great value. Great production quality. Thank you for your work
Thought about getting one for playing DCS, had no idea about the tech. Thanks for the video.
Star Citizen
same im thinking of getting it for dcs to. whats wrong about the tech, should i buy it for dcs or is it more for space sim
@@aviationtyler2879little late but it works fine in dcs. Technically made for space sim but will work just fine in dcs or any other flight sim
“High grade” hotas would be 900$ on a winwing or thrustmaster hotas. This I agree is in the medium range compared to your other mass produced setups.
Will you make a follow up vid when you get the second omni throttle setup?
I was thinking about getting one of these but I ain’t paying 40$ for shipping that’s ridiculous, especially when they have a distribution center in my country….I’m assuming we are picking up the tab for them shipping them over seas to the USA.
That's lucky. It'll cost me $130 (nearly the price of an entire sick) to get a set shipped.
I just ordered mine to the US in 2024 and I paid $60 in shipping.
They are coming directly from the factory. Mine had to clear customs from China.
Good video. However, I don't appreciate you promoting a scam within your description.
A scam? What are you talking about?
Yeah, wtf are you talking about?
Good review, nice video 😀
my brother, are you from viltrum?
Indeed 🥸
This kind of inputs seem quite interesting, thanks for the info
thanks for the review! i have two questions:
1. can you tighten the clutch on the omnidirectional stick so that it holds position for that throttle?
2. and if so, would you recommend the omnidirectional stick or a thrust control for universal use? i wanna be able to fly airliners to space ships with the same equipment!
thanks for you help!
from my understanding, you just remove the return-to-center spring and it acts as a dry clutch. Check out Subliminal’s review he shows how it works
Sorry for missing that.
1. Yes, you can remove the spring (I did it for mine), it is quite easy.
2. I would recommend the stick over throttle. I also use it for various games
HOSAS/HOTAS actually stands for Hands on Sandwich and Soda/Hands on Tummy and Sandwich.
Jokes aside, I have the Thrustmaster Warthog stick and throttle, however I want a hosas system and was wondering whether to use the warthog stick and one of the vkb models or just get two vkbs.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Get VKB for left hand for the start, and if Warthog buttons won't be sufficient for you, only after that think about getting second VKB
@Nyxson thanks! I greatly appreciate the advice.
Believe me the Warthog Stick has only one advantage over the NXT Pro: The Metal Feeling. I switched from a X-52 to a Warthog and then to the NXT Pro. I also bought a Omnithrottle Version as Single Engined Throttle and Chopper Collective. I am very happy with those 2 Devices now. Using the Warthog Throttle only for double Engined Jets and as Throttle Levers for the DCS Apache. Having 8 Hat Switches (2 of them Analogue Sticks interchangeable to a 4 Way Hat with one press) is a huge plus and I can easily control the Apache CPG and Pilot Position without using the Keyboard or annother Controller. Well, I am using 4 of the Cougars from TM for the MFD's and a small Numpad for entering Laser Code etc. but otherwise... No need for Rudders. Even if I have them for Differential Brakes in WW2 Planes, the Twist Stick is very precise for managing the Tail Rotor in Choppers. Give the Stick a try, you won't regret it!
Best beginner stick?
I would say no, unless you are tech savvy person (Loves to assemble and disassemble things at least). Even though this is not very difficult and there are great videos to explain everything.
Just to clarify, this IS my first stick, but I am also a person which builds keyboards (including the soldering) and fixes most of the tech myself.
go Thrustmaster
@@btupalski TM certainly was great - 10 years ago! Their Tech stagnated very much. And I am using TM since their first HOTAS! The only thing I am still using from TM are the Cougars and the Warthog Throttle for 2 Engined Fighters. The Stick SUCKS compared to all 3 contesters: VKB, Virpil, WinWing - All better. And the Trottle has not a chance against WinWing - NOT A CHANCE! I am looking at the VKB STECS to replace my 7 year old Twin Throttle Warthog because it is jiggling around like a old X52 Throttle by now. Plastic Grips stupled over Metal - Something has to give after some time. And "All Metal" was a big Joke if you look at the Throttle. It's freaking Plastics with a Aluminium Ballrest stulped over.
What game is this ? Star Citizen ?
The one that I am playing? No, it's X4
Ever tried having on foot controls mapped to the thumbsticks? Curious how well that would work in FPS mode rather than using a separate controller or using the mouse and keyboard.
They cost 430€ here in EU.
Unfair haha
Is it xbox compatible?
No.... at least I don't think so...
What did you mount those bad boys on?
A literal piece of scrap wood 😁Just stained nicely 😊
The search continues for an affordable, quality split throttle. 😅
Why on earth did I buy a t1600 😣
Because it's a solid choice as well
I"m curious, what games would these be for? deep simulation flight games? would this work for something like dark souls?
Star Citizen
@@Group_Anonymous I meant games that actually exist lol
DCS, Microsoft flight sim, elite dangerous, star wars squadrons are the first ones i can think of, dont think you would use a HOTAS for something like dark souls unless your doing something crazy along the same lines as trying to beat the game with a Dance, Dance Revolution mat or a Banana (it has been done )😂
@@danielroy8232 Not Star Citizen with an actual playable Alpha where dual-stick systems can be bound and working reliably.
@@danielroy8232 star citizen is very playable, and is only going to keep getting better now that development on Squadron 42 is near completion.
I am legend ;)
❤️❤️❤️
Larson Garden
calling it the "best" is pretty far-fetched.. did you try the WarBRD or the Orion 2 to be able to say that, or did you literally only ever try the nxt?
It's legit the best system for its price point. That isn't an over-exaggeration.
Virpils are a different level entirely and almost three times the cost.
@@or10nsharkfin Orion2 HOTAS = $399.85 | GLADIATOR NXT + STECS ≈ $560
I dont think you did your homework, mate
@@clxudzYT
Gladiator NXT EVO "Premium" = $165
STECS Mini = $199; STECS Mini Plus = $219
Total = $364; $384
You're right. Totally didn't do my research.
EDIT: You also didn't account for the "price point" part of my argument. It wasn't being argued that the VKBs were great and cheap, it's that they are one of the best systems for what they cost.
If you wanted a Space Sim HOSAS system two VKB Gladiators cost up to $165 each. For a total of $330 before shipping and taxes. $10 more if you want one of those to have the OTA (Omni-Throttle Adapter).
Saving on cost is also why VKB offers different options for buying the STECS throttle. They're as low as $199 for just the Throttle and its base, $219 for the Throttle and a button module on the front, $279 for the Standard which comes with the swappable Detents plates and the full button module, or $319 for the Max.
Uhm big hands. They look like Trump size hand. Oh your head is so large it makes everything else on your body looks small lol. 😮 Great vid and informative
Hmmm, you are oddly interested in size of my body parts...
Uhm.. and this passively aggressive demeanor.. you better go watch Sephora vids, you are in the wrong place girl
