Here's a tip for getting a solid base. I see you're getting some tilt action of your base plates 02:30 Try setting them down on a clean hard surface with a 3/8" ball of kneadable eraser (artist's eraser) at each corner. Put the ball under the plate and push down hard to the table. It will semi-permanently adhere the base with around 40lbs of force.

They were a constant headache to maintain in working order. I haven't had any issues with my VKB sticks. One thing I do wish that they would offer are custom dust covers for the sticks.
Yes, I have been running dual OMNI sticks and totally love it! So much more relaxed and feels more natural. Well worth the upgrade for sure! Nice review. I love my VKB sticks! I burned through three T16000m sticks back when I first backed Star Citizen nine years ago. After the third failed, I went hunting for a new stick and found the VKB Gladiator, the predecessor to the NXT line. That first VKB stick is still going strong, now with numerous upgrades, plus I've added a couple VKB Gunfighters, an NXT throttle console, and various grips to my collection! Plus their software allows sooo much customization... that's where I add curves, tune deadzones, and such. I fly dual stick with both sticks vertically oriented. But now you have me wondering about the Omni throttle 45° setup. May have to give it a shot! 😂
Could you at some point make a video about the setup and keybinds you use for this setup? This is what I plan on getting for a hosas setup and it would be such a great starting point for me.
I 110% agree with everything SMB said about this setup, even the part about the T16000 breaking within a year of using them. I have also ben using the VKB dual stick setup for a little over 2 years and can agree they are the best setup for flight/space sim for the price. The amount of buttons and side extensions to further increase those button options is hard to beat. The one thing I did recently add but have not had a chance to use it it their peddles for further immersive flight experience, I will use these once our house is finished being built and I can start on my flight sim setup. These truly are the best sticks for the price point. Awesome review!!!
I can't recommend these enough. I waited too long to get a pair of these, but picked up a used pair and I'm really pleased with them compared to the cheap Saiteks I was using for over a decade. The quality gimbal is the biggest difference maker for me, as I can be sure I'm not drifting forward or backward when I'm trying to strafe accurately to land in a hangar. As a bonus, with the dry clutches tightened up just a little bit, they feel authentically similar to a "pilot" (hydraulic over hydraulic) joystick that you find in some heavy equipment. I like to come home from a 10 hour day in a wheel loader and play some farming simulator...

Great review. My wife bought them for me as a Christmas gift. Still wrapping my head around setup, keybindings, etc. But so far a massive step up from my Saitek X52 pro.
I bought dual T16000m's and got exactly 2 weeks out of them before the z-axis started acting up on the right stick. I didn't mistreat them or go gorilla hands on them. They're just a bad design imo. Got 10 year plus old joysticks here that still work over the T16000m's. After watching some reviews I decided to order 2 of the VKB's. Can't wait to get these babies and jump back into Star Citizen. I have the identical setup as you. That 45-degree left stick made vertical strafing far more intuitive than my old conventional left stick with Z-axis. I also feel the spring-loaded rotary dial (bottom left) is a big plus over the old design. I use down for exit seat and up for open outer doors. Errands (like looting or deliveries) in a Pisces are insanely quick. I first had the Warthog, and one thing bothered me about the Thrustmaster products - you need to run the TARGET software in the background to fully utilize its features in SC. There are some plastics out there, in which aluminum will give up faster than the plastic will. As far as breaking goes. I work in plastic manufacturing.
Top tip - start off with a single joystick for the right hand (replacing the mouse) with your keyboard. This setup works very well. You'll ultimately end up wanting two sticks (because it feels brilliant), but this is a nice 'easy in' to analog control. Can confirm VKBs are fantastic.
I actually started with the opposite config ( HOSAM) and it was a great way to get used to the handling of stick flight slowly until I eventually lucked into a $150 Virpil Conni stick. Also 200% pedals are amazing
I been using HOSAS T16000 past 6 months and are still fine. However when i do a big PC upgrade when the 5 series cards come out i will also be upgrading to these sticks
I’ve had a T16,000 M hotas for about three years, and while it served me, well, I’ve been keeping an eye on Facebook marketplace for gladiators, and I managed to find a great deal. It’s a huge huge upgrade from the stick, especially, you have so many more controls at a reachable spot, and it’s so much smoother and more precise. I recommend taking a look for some used ones and just watching the market to see if any good deals come up.
I’m going to be getting these in the next few months, and I was considering doing both the axis. Or at least buying the Z axis adapter so I can switch back if I want to. Also, your discount code still works.
Grabbed myself a pair of the Gladiator NXT EVO SCG models today... unfortunately they are on backorder.. so no idea when they will arrive.. happy to use my x52 pro's till they do.. then i can retire them :)
I'd love to see a dual omni throttle setup. I've been thinking of going for that setup. Gives me Mech vibes from all the 90's Mecha anime I grew up watching.
Very cool review. I have the NXT Throttle with the WWII Joystick….. I just really prefer the WWII stick. The trigger is so much better….. then I have the module with the start button on the right and the FSM I think it’s called in the left, everything on Predator mounts. Absolutely brilliant setup. There simply isn’t anything out there for the price for the controller.
Excellent review! Thank you for investing the time and effort into outting this together. I've been looking to upgrade from Keyboard and mouse into sticks and it seems like this set up would be a great fit for me.
I think what makes things a little challenging is when you want to transition from flight to fps. That’s why I bought desk mount for the dual stick setup. I just bought the Omni throttle adapter I can’t wait to get it. I don’t see a reason for me to get the SEM because I heard that the left Omni throttle contacts it when you move the stick full left.
About the big hands thing, i wear i size 15 ring and my hands fit ok, my problem was the default springs, i went with the heavy tension and everything has been great.
I'm someone who started with space sims with Wing Commander back in the early 90s. I probably spend more time collecting controllers these days than actually playing with them. I've flown with old school two button analog dos sticks, Saitek x45, CH Fighterstick USB & Throttle, the VKB Gunfighter III and the Gladiator NXT EVO. And Gladiator is definitely dollar for dollar money you can spend. The only thing I would say is that is to look at the Gunfighter and see if that system has the extra features you want. If you want those extra features then you may want to skip the Gladiator. Before I mention what those features are I'd like to point out a few things you don't lose out on or that the Gladiator has going for it vs the Gunfighter. 1) You get a selection of inputs directly on the base. - I can't mention this enough but you get a number of convenient extra input right on the base of the Gladiator that the Gunfighter does not have. If you decide you want, say, a throttle encoder to set a cruising speed for your ship with a gunfighter you'll need to buy an extra device or use the keyboard. 2) The get the same grip quality. Because they're the same grips. You can even buy an adapter to put your Gladiator grip onto a gunfighter base should you decide to switch later. Namely what those extra features come down to the following: 1) You want quick grip changes. - You can change the Gladiator's grips but you have to change three self tapping screws that are accessed after removing the base plate so it's not fast. The gunfighter has you tightening a side mounted screw that you can switch. 2) You want grip extensions. - You can have a 100m or 200m extension with a gunfighter stick. This ties back into part of the reason why the gunfighter doesn't have controls on it. With it being hard to tell where exactly the base will be it makes more sense not to include those inputs on the base when there's an upper limit to how many axes and buttons windows will support on one device. 3) You want to be able to change the center detent and the response curve. The gunfighter comes with cams you can switch out that. You have two sets, Avia and Space that come in a soft and hard detent center option. Avia cams get harder to move the closer you get to the extreme edges where as Space cams have a linear tension from center to edges. The cams can be placed on each of the x and y axis and don't have to be matched as a set. 4) You want more spring options. The gunfighter axes can have two springs on each axis where as the gladiator can only have one spring per axis. This is mainly because you will need strong springs for longer stick extensions. But this does mean you've got more tension options. 5) You want the Modern Combat Grip. This is the one grip that is not sold configured for the Gladiator. Simply put this thing is a massive chonky beast that would not be a good fit for the Gladiator base. The space combat grip takes a lot of cues from this type of real-world grip but the space combat grip has streamlined and re-imagined it for a more sci-fi look that is coincidentally has less weight and production cost. The MCG is not. And it's gigantic. Things like a real pinky break, more swapable hats / ministicks. 6) You want a smaller footprint for mounting in a cockpit. So this is not going to be universal. You could easily mount a Gladiator in a cockpit too. But sometimes in a cockpit, where you've got dedicated places to mount extra controls and such the extra space the gladiator dedicates to the base can actually get in the way. For example if you are trying to do a center-stick setup the smaller footprint and an extension can make that MUCH easier. 7) You want that all metal construction. I think the Gladiator construction is perfectly fine. CH sticks have been made from heavy plastic exteriors with metal bearings where needed and CH sticks from the 90s are still happily trucking along. And the gladiator is using magnetic sensors for it's major axes so it's going to have very low wear and tear. But if you want want an even more overbuilt base that is even easier to service as a user the gunfighter is that. That said I think very, very few people will ever notice any difference here. If you don't care about anything I mentioned in 1-6 and you're just getting a gunfighter because it's metal, I'd say just get the Gladiator and save your money.
I had my NXTs dialed-in as far as bindings go but just had to throw a lot of that out the window with the changes in 3.20. I really need CIG to lock down their mode and control changes so that we are not stuck rebinding and tweaking our setups every time a patch is released.
You've got that right. There's a game called Hunternet where you can map binds from in game (as in while you're looking out of the cockpit) and it's a really nice option.
3:50 - just as an info point, Virpil also offer a z-axis adapter for their sticks so you can set up with an omnithrottle like this :) I've been flying with that setup for quite a while now, very pleased and as you say, best of both worlds. Doesn't work very well for regular flight sims though, so anyone playing both should expect to find the need for a dedicated throttle too.
i'm about to purchase this stick setup just need a little more info. How do you manage your keyboard and mouse for when you are transitioning to FPS play. Do you find it comfortable to operate sitting on your desktop or would you prefer going with a desk mount. Im leaning on the deskmount option only issue is im one of those bigger L-shaped desk designed to put the monitor in the middle of the curve. I currently have T16000 and throttle and have it on the desktop but get frustrated with the right stick moving around when in combat and having to move the right stick out of the way every time i land or go FPS.
I’m looking at buying some too, their are chair mounts for the flight sticks I’m looking into from “monster tech” so they sit on your chair instead of taking up desk space. Look well priced compared to the vkb mounts as well might end up going for those.
you can just get a OMNI THROTTLE ADAPTER for both left and right hand. then you can do double Omni if you want with what you have no need to get a 3rd joystick!
I just ordered the gladiator Omni hope it pairs well with my warthog. Would it be a good idea for me to later on get the throttle later or just use the Omni for throttle
Thank you for a great review Im still rocking the T16000m dual sticks they are ok ish not failed me yet but having the left stick on a 45deg looks and sounds great. but looking at VKB or Virpil the choice is how long have I got to save up LOL speeding way too much on PC upgrade this year
I am thinking about getting the throttle, can anyone tell me how the feel of the different axes works? If you push forward/back, does it stay in place like a normal throttle axis? And then if you push the throttle left or right, does it spring back to center? Is there a way to lock/unlock or spring/unspring either axis direction? Edit: Nevermind I found you can do ALL OF THE THINGS. WOW!
How do you feel about double omni-throttle? I'm thinking about ordering them for myself for my christmas 'gift' to myself, i'm currently on HOSAM with a T16000m thrustmaster and a razer trinity mouse and want to get into Hosas but not sure if I should do 1 Omni+1 Stick or 2 Omni since they're basically just sticks.
I'm about to order a set, but I'm unsure if I should go for two normal sticks or one omni and one normal. It's for star citizen and I fly mostly fighters but also some bigger ships. Any ideas?
I'm thinking about getting 2 sticks, so wondering if 2 sticks are better than 1 stick and one sideways one (forgot what those are called) like in the video. If anyone can give me an answer I'd appreciate that. From what I understand the sideways one is good if you play a lot of Flight Simulators, but if it's mainly for SC, 2 sticks (like the right one in the vid) are preferred. Do I have that right?
@@AW-po7jr I ended up getting the VKB Gunfighter mk4 and Stecs, way more than I planned on spending, but it’s been well worth it, they are great products and fit well in my hands

just the case is ABS, although it's a decent feeling result, I wouldn't be concerned about that. The gimbal is glass fiber reinforced polyamide so it should be pretty strong. It's still plastic though, so if you think you will ever have to replace the stick once outside of the 2 year warranty, you should get the VKB Gunfighter model or something else with metal parts. It doesn't look like they sell replacement gimbal parts on their website.

I ordered some last night along with the rudder pedals, wish me luck!
just ordered the left hand stick to go dual stick got a hotas warthog right so feel this improvement will work well for me.
There are some plastics out there, in which aluminum will give up faster than the plastic will. As far as breaking goes. I work in plastic manufacturing.
Best timing with that review:) I just planning to upgrade my t.16000 and do not know if grab Omni or regular. Thx
I was just thinking about buying dual sticks. Looks like I found my answer
Second this. Spent 2+ yrs with single joystick playing Elite Dangerous and No Mans Sky etc., ended up getting VKBs and truly loving it every bit of it
I been using HOSAS T16000 past 6 months and are still fine.
When you said subscribe Your channel subscribe button glowed first time seeing that cool feature
I have been looking at a HOSAS setup with Gladiator NXTs for a while.
Great job Mac! Thanks!❤
Excellent review! Thank you for investing the time and effort into outting this together. I've been looking to upgrade from Keyboard and mouse into sticks and it seems like this set up would be a great fit for me.
You won't regret it
the lone fact they are spring and camber design makes them last a while
I think what makes things a little challenging is when you want to transition from flight to fps.
Very nice but i would always go with Virpil Constallation Alpha Prime
Namely what those extra features come down to the following:
1) You want quick grip changes.
I have large hands and can confirm they are small, but it hasnt bothered me at all everything is still accessible without any real discomfort
I have the Gladiator MK.II and love it but i wouldnt mean a left hand stick too
thanks Mac, used your code
Can you do a video with all the settings you have and how to set them up
Thanks for the video! May I ask how you configured your left hand omni? Which springs? And how did you set up the clutches?
I use the same setup bro!!! I also got the rudders :D fucking amazing for SC and i'm sure other games!
VKB FTW -confirmed
Thank you for the video. I just ordered it using your code. ;)
I can’t recommend the Virpil Constellation Alpha Primes enough. AMAZING quality and super accurate
2:59 T16000 from Thrustmaster*
I really want to buy a set of gladiator evo sticks but i'm worried what setup will be the best suited for the future flight model
I'd love to upgrade from my old ch setup. But the game isn't making enough progress for me to buy more hardware for it at this time. Nice video though
i'm about to purchase this stick setup just need a little more info.
Bummer, missed out on the code. I ordered mine couple of day ago.
I'm glad I'm not prone to epileptic seizures...
I'd have purchased VKB by now. But they're never in stock anywhere.
you can just get a OMNI THROTTLE ADAPTER for both left and right hand. then you can do double Omni if you want with what you have no need to get a 3rd joystick!
Cool stuff, I think I will get a pair too. P.s. which screen is that?
I just ordered the gladiator Omni hope it pairs well with my warthog. Would it be a good idea for me to later on get the throttle later or just use the Omni for throttle
Love your stuff
Is the only thing unique about the omni stick is the angle?
Thank you for a great review Im still rocking the T16000m dual sticks they are ok ish not failed me yet but having the left stick on a 45deg looks and sounds great. but looking at VKB or Virpil the choice is how long have I got to save up LOL speeding way too much on PC upgrade this year
I’ve just moved off of the T16000 onto Virpils. The deadzone on the Z axis was seriously affecting my accuracy, the Virpils are next level god tier
@@OneDarkEnigma86 thanks for the info
Not sure if you covered this but do you or have you used pedals and if so do you find them more beneficial or just a waste?
how were you looking in different directions while you were flying?
Why was your top left light flashing? Mine has never done that.
Do you have site where can buy them
I am thinking about getting the throttle, can anyone tell me how the feel of the different axes works? If you push forward/back, does it stay in place like a normal throttle axis? And then if you push the throttle left or right, does it spring back to center? Is there a way to lock/unlock or spring/unspring either axis direction? Edit: Nevermind I found you can do ALL OF THE THINGS. WOW!
Would you suggest only one Omni or both Omni?
my real question is, can the throttle one be just a joystick ? so could you get both hands tilted and use them as a twinstick setup ?
yes
How do you feel about double omni-throttle? I'm thinking about ordering them for myself for my christmas 'gift' to myself, i'm currently on HOSAM with a T16000m thrustmaster and a razer trinity mouse and want to get into Hosas but not sure if I should do 1 Omni+1 Stick or 2 Omni since they're basically just sticks.
I'm about to order a set, but I'm unsure if I should go for two normal sticks or one omni and one normal. It's for star citizen and I fly mostly fighters but also some bigger ships. Any ideas?
Can having two different one work ? i want the 45 angle one on my left hand and the mk2 with few button and 2 trigger on the right
I'm thinking about getting 2 sticks, so wondering if 2 sticks are better than 1 stick and one sideways one (forgot what those are called) like in the video. If anyone can give me an answer I'd appreciate that. From what I understand the sideways one is good if you play a lot of Flight Simulators, but if it's mainly for SC, 2 sticks (like the right one in the vid) are preferred. Do I have that right?
Damn, I’m 6’6 with pretty large hands, I was about to order the stick but now I’m not sure if it’s too small for me or not :/
How is it going with the sticks?
@@AW-po7jr I ended up getting the VKB Gunfighter mk4 and Stecs, way more than I planned on spending, but it’s been well worth it, they are great products and fit well in my hands
Can you drop your settings?
What monitor are you using? looks nice
Samsung g9. It’s great and now SC supports UW and HDR its even better 👌
@@SuperMacBrother This comment inspired me to buy a 48" OLED monitor for black friday, cheers. 😉
where are you flying in game?
I personally prefer Virpil's build quality and design...
Virpils are better but they also come with over twice the price
@@maukku1572 And it also seems that the higher you go in price/quality, the more redundant features / diminishing returns you get.
VKB seems to be that perfect middle-ground between value and function.
I just wish that they'd release a module that has metal toggle-switches, that feeling of flipping a loud metal switch is unbeatable.
If you've had those sticks 2 years, you're never mounting em 🤣
What is the iPad looking thing with buttons?
Elgato Stream Deck
Is it only in euros?
How do you not get motion sickness with that wide screen? The scaling is awful and objects moving center to side as you turn are stretched and zoomed in... I tried ultra wide gaming myself, and I couldn't find a singe setup mitigating this issue...
Can I have a real dual stick experience with that? :-O
your pc specs link doesn't work m8
Привет, что за монитор ты используешь?
Samsung g9 👍
What monitor is that?
Samsung g9 👍
Schuppe Streets
VKB is made in China and cannot be bought from US retailers. Shipping for 2 joysticks was 68 bucks during the holiday season in 2023. They also have a disclaimer that that a 25% import tax may apply at customs. What a shame.
For the US you will not incur any additional fees if the price of your order is under $800. My order had a $57 shipping fee which is understandable as it's FedEx International Express.
Why are all throttle sticks designed for the LEFT side?
You can get an Omni throttle adaptor for the right stick as well
That was what you would give away LOL 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣
sadly im fucking brazilian ... so sad seeing thoose top tier products so faaaaaarr from us! bcs of cost but most for availability! PLS VKB, send us some. IDK!!! we keep thinking and planing our consume goals for maybe when we travel to the us or europe, by trip ofc... and thn come back to brazil with them hoping it dont get absurdly TAXED by our shit government. BUUUUUUUUUT im sure soon i ll be able to buy one of ths somehow.
i have one hotas x, wich is absurdly rare already here! and expensive kakakakakaka imagine a hotas x costing more thn ur minimal wage. dealing with thoose miss throttle , i ended up just using the stick and W A S D for axes engine movement
How is ABS not cheap? It's a standard plastic.
just the case is ABS, although it's a decent feeling result, I wouldn't be concerned about that.
