My dad was in the Navy and a part of the real Top Gun program… he still has the patch on the jacket he wore and I’m very proud of that. I’m so stoked he agreed to see this with me in the IMAX theater this Friday

This guy is 59 and he's killing it so hard. I just finished watching the film. This one is meant just for the big screens. What an experience it was!!! The thing which I liked the most about this one was that along with intricately designed plane chase sequences, the film is also high on emotion.... Towards the end, you realise how wholesome it is.
Haha I saw it Thursday night as well & came here to relive some of the moments from the movie..absolutely loved it! Can’t wait to rewatch it again lol

Saw it in IMAX few days after release, and when leaving the cinema I was emotional. It's been 36 years ago, and it was worth waiting. This was beyond what I expected. Due to the mix of old & new, it took me right back to when I was a teenager watching Top Gun. There's a very special treat in the movie that is just excellent. JUst watch it, and you might know what I mean.
This was my first time ever watching a film in IMAX and now I’ve been spoiled. It completely blew me away. Great film!

I saw this on Tuesday and I'm going back to see it on Friday in True IMAX. This is the most entertaining movie I have EVER seen and I've seen over 1500 movies. I had high expectations going in especially after Mission Impossible Fallout and WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW...A BIG THANK YOU TO MR. CRUISE, MR. BRUCKHEIMER, MR. MCQUARRIE, MR. ELLISON, MR. KOSINSKI AND ALL THE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THIS MOVIE. BECAUSE YOU DELIVERED A GREAT FUN EXHILARATING MOVIE THAT WILL STAND THE TEST OF TIME. We were at the military college when the top gun movie was aired! Everyone of us wanted to be a top gun pilots after watching the movie! Ironically, 30+ yrs later, I went & watched top gun maverick with my wife and really got emotional about it as I was a candidate for USNA back in 1989 too but fate brought me to Australia 🇦🇺 instead! Thank you dear for bringing me to see the movie (top gun maverick) as it is certainly the best movie I’ve ever seen in my life so far!😎😘
I pretty sure all my high school friend would be glad to see this movie finally came out and recall the day we had a volleyball game on the beach during the summer holiday 36 years ago..
Definitely going to watch this in IMAX this year! Hans Zimmer's score and Jennifer Connelly's beautiful young face will be exceptional!

Just watched the movie. 5 stars. Highly recommended. The aerial stunts are real and they will blow you away. I was in the edge of my seat. Tom Cruise is in a league of his own.

watched it for the second time yesterday this time in IMAX, it took the movie to another level. One of the best movie experiences I have had. The size of the screen and the expanded ratio for certain scenes. also the sound was incredible.
I hope you watched it in TRUE IMAX and not LIEmax like other people.

Man, the movie is complete ... good plot, good music, adventure, romance, action, drama, rebellion all in the right measure ... great ending. After Avengers ultimatum only Tom Cruise can save it!
The scenes without special effects make the difference, the realism predominates and makes us lose our breath along with the actor. This film proves that realism is better than special effects. Had already won my respect before with the Mission Impossible franchise, with this film consolidated! Great movie, good for family, girlfriends, friends all good!

To be fair,
I wasn't old enough to live through the 80's which was probably one of the best decades to be alive. Through the stories I heard this movie is and will always be a legendary icon for it's time. It's perfectly understandable that not many movies had ever come close to reaching the incredible success accomplished with the original from 1986.
Fast forward 36 Years today and I finally got the chance to experience this thriller on the big screen! It had me feeling goosebumps from the sounds of the jets to the feeling of the G forces which had me pushing back on the theater's recliner chair with each take off.
I honestly had low expectations coming in and was pleasantly surprised to find this sequel an even better experience when compared to the original which I love.
Shoutout to Tom Cruise for sticking with his passion for a lifetime. His work is nothing short of legendary and a true testament to the legacy he has worked his entire life to achieve.
Is this a standalone movie or a sequel?

I always say to my friends that IMAX is the Tom Cruise of Cinema formats as they give us the real & amazing experience like Tom gives us with his real stunts. So can't wait for the combo of them both 😍

Dear IMAX, pls make sure your theatres in INDIA has their sound system calibrated. Most venue play IMAX film with dead bass unit, not worth the money

My first ever movie in IMAX. I'm situated in India and drove 60 km away to watch it. My distant vision glasses needed power correction for years but I kept postponing it. Now I got them corrected just in time to have perfect vision to watch this movie. And man...when that Kenny Loggins' song ran in the starting sequence, at that moment I was a kid again :)
Breathtaking in IMAX. Mine was actually IMAX with Laser. Definitely recommended!
A little anecdote: I remember in the pre-internet era when English movies weren't very popular here, if you asked a random person names of as many Hollywood actors as they could recall and if they knew just one, 8/10 times it was Tom Cruise.

@Manvendra Shaktawat I'd say as far as the movie goes, you'll appreciate it more if you've watched the first Top Gun. You'll appreciate the action nonetheless but the emotional part which is carried from the original will make it wholesome. Watching it in IMAX is worth it as the flying scenes have been shot in an aspect ratio which is suited for IMAX. Also, there are a lot of panoramic views so best suited for big screens. Screens are brighter and bigger in IMAX Laser.

This is the best movie ever ...in history of mankind
Don-t see this film on any other screen but iMax. People who've flown at 400+ knots close to terrain will tell you this film is as close to feeling the real thing that you're likely to get.
And for the ending P-51 clip, would have been uber cool to have a Jetranger shooting the takeoff, in tight enough to show Cruise's shit-eating grin - runup of that Merlin's big sound, brake release, tail coming up, liftoff and cleanup. Yowzuh !

I wonder🤣I guess it's only a gopro tho...
They are using "IMAX Certified" cameras. Which does open up for units that are way smaller than the traditional 15 perf 70mm monsters.
They may not be as tiny as GoPro's but according to an article I googled, they used Sony Venice sensor cameras for the cockpit shots. And they still had to separate the recorder from the camera in order to get into the cramped space.
There have been documentaries shot on fighter jets using 15/70 cameras in the past. But I guess they didn't want that bulk on planes that the pilots had relatively low fly hours clocked in.
He’s not flying, he’s riding. And there are 6 IMAX cameras per cockpit.
He is not flying the plane at all, he is in the navigator seat behind the cockpit. Then in the visual shots, an actual top gun pilot flies the single seat version of the plane to make it appear as if he is flying

I just saw this movie and it is better than the original in every way.
Not only does it have better flying sequences (obviously!) but the story line was touching and complex, kinda like what many people go through today in their relationships.
The original was a bit adolescent.
This is more sophisticated, yet still fun.

This movie is the antithesis of 'woke'. There are people of colour and a woman and not a moment is spent trying to explain that they are there despite white supremacy or the patriarchy. They've done the work to get where they are and no one even blinks in surprise that they exist and excel. Diversity and inclusion without a single reference.

As cenas sem efeitos especiais fazem a diferença , o realismo predomina e fazem agente perder o fôlego junto com o ator . Esse filme prova que realismo é melhor que efeitos especiais. Já havia ganhado meu respeito antes com a franquia Missão Impossível , com esse filme consolidou ! Ótimo filme , bom para a família, namorada, amigos tudo de bom !
