- Our first attempt taking our dog Chester camping in the tree tent. Once we figured out how to get him up and down it wasn't much different than any other tent. Overall a great trip (despite the bugs) and looking forward to heading back to this site.

The fires that you had in Canada, we got the smoke and the smell in NY. It was actually orange here one day and the smoke was so bad. It was such an eerie feeling.
Kudos to you two for sticking it out with the bugs 👍🏻. I'm quite certain I would have turned around and gone home.

Love the content! My wife and I do a lot of desert camping in spring-early summer and bugs are always the #1 issue (we bring our dog with us as well).. wish there was some way other than planting a ton of citronella candles all over the campsite to keep them away but it is a struggle. Keep up the awesome videos 👍

Chester is great such a good dog and a handsome one too. He's a good if not the best part!
In the past we have sprayed bug dope on bandanas and put them around the dog's neck. It seemed to help. Also, we swore off camping in June (we live in Maine). We even have a great cabin deep in the North Woods that we just dont go to in June.
Hope Chester didn't get sick from all those bugs biting him.

When those big fires were up north, 2022 or 2023?,we actually got overcast smoke down here in western Massachusetts .
So hard to believe the severity of what some people had to go through up/over there.💪💪
A hammock tent for two and a dog. That is new to me. I guess camping is not much fun with so many bugs to bug you.
It will be a nice outing perhaps after the first freeze this fall thru early spring and trust there some fishing too..

Just watched this video. My fiancé and I are in Ontario as well and are campers. We know all to well about the bugs. Why are you guys not using thermacells? We set up three or four around our campsite. Works like a charm. I don’t think I’d camp without them.
You can get a bug spray for horses for Chester works very good!
I am a vet that used to live in Alaska where the mosquitoes were this bad. A little deet on Chester would be OK. There are also some chewable meds that are mosquito repellent. Talk to your vet. Not sure about the availability in Canada.
We used to fish and camp on the river and the bugs were always bad. The first thing we would do is build a fire and throw some green branches on the fire, it would smoke out the skeeters and biting flies so we could catfish all night. It works, bugs don't like the campfire smoke, but you walk 10ft from it and they would nail you.

This particular area we camped in is a no fishing zone unfortunately! I will certainly be fishing in videos this summer :)

Why dont yall bring a some fishing gear to places like this! There is 100% TONS of fish in that lake, u could probably use topwater lures over those lillypads and u will definetly get some Topwater Smashes! or a classic Spoon lure would probably work fantastic!
the forest reserve we were camping in doesn't allow fishing unfortunately. Also I think the only species in this lake is Bass and they don't open till next week.

Dude...I was just thinking..... maybe he forgot to pack her cool bug outfit with the hood....or maybe just bought one for himself and didn't think of her at all???? I don't know. but maybe that is why she isn't wearing a ring. but then I have always pampered my women....and that hasn't worked out well for me in the long run.

Agreed, I commented a while back about the claw technique. ..A little knife handling education would really help. There are plenty of experienced chefs on UA-cam that teach these techniques.
