Putting down a heavy duty ground covering first and also having a tent with a heavy duty floor is the best way to go camping, and of course, specialized rugs just for your tent helps too.

Some of the newer diesel heaters have more advanced controllers, with Bluetooth as well. And find one with the newer silent fuel pump, the ones that tick will drive you nuts.

The inflatable bed transfer the cold ground to your body. A cot allows for a barrier between you and the ground. It also doesn't require electric or gets holes. The kitchen set up is nice. I agree a diesel heater would be better. I have thought about a pellet/wood stove.

A great trip. Thanks for sharing this. You are right-- operating the buddy heater on low is best. Some folks try to get the inside of the tent too dang hot; the best temps are somewhere in the upper 50s to upper 60s, if ya ask me. I vote to just keep it. Here in TN, you can exchange a 15 pound propane cylinder out for 18 bucks. That is cheap enough. You're also right that on the low setting, the cylinder lasts SOOOO much longer. We had a deep freeze here these last 8 days, and I used my buddy heater (same one you got) all night long on low in my living room. Slept on a recliner. Kept the place at 72-75 all night. One thing that will really help a buddy heater is to use that Jackery to power a small box fan.... placed in front of it pointing out into the cabin. It will totally circulate that heat inside your cabin tent. It is the weakness of a buddy heater; it needs a fan strong enough to push the heat out and up, swirling it around the room. I bought the hose and use the 15 pound tanks. Those little green 1 pound bottles just ain't enough; they last about 4 hours or so. Not enough for me. I am amazed at how much I like your big tent. That extra room just seems to make the entire trip SO much better than if you had packed in a 5 by 7 A frame backpacking tent, which is what I have been packing in on camping trips. I already want a bigger tent and glamping is starting to look really nice to me.

She reminds me of this old Cajun cooking show. Every time he used wine in cooking, you always saw him taking a swig of wine. Love the dog cam in the beginning. Has anyone tried one of those portable out kitchens with everything in it. Not sure what they weight but running kitchen sink and stove and prep room. You guys can do camp ground meals show.

Great fall camping video! Loved seeing Chester out there.
You mentioned the air mattress being used for ice fishing.. you would probably get a lot of cold air coming up through from the ice below which would make the two of you pretty cold. Something to think about.
Great episode. Always enjoy seeing a new one pop up.

I was thinking about the wet vs dry heat between the propane and diesel heaters. I think the propane heater is wet because all it does it heat exisitng air where as the diesel heater is heating air from the outside (forced air) and pumping it in. But that is just my guess.
