Good to see Photography Show goes on. It helped to make my living in the past and hope it does the same for many more people in the future. Well done to Photography Online for bringing the show into the forefront
Hi Richard. It was great to meet everyone at the show and get the chance to put faces to names. Great to hear we’re the highlight of your month - although that doesn’t say much about the rest it!
Personally I like photography in summer too. I choose to shoot more intimate scenes. Photographers who don’t like going out to shoot in summer are really missing out
No one said we didn’t go out in Summer. We simply stated the fact that summer usually offers less potential than other seasons. Of course, there’s plenty of good opportunity in any season, just less in the summer than in others.
Sorry I missed the livestream, still enjoyed the episode. Truly the best and most informative on line photography show. The crew looks like they really enjoy what they're doing which makes it even better. Can't wait for the next one.
I enjoy your show. Excited for each one. Not very experienced but learning and enjoying. Right now struggling with my Nikon and the focus settings. Would love to see a show on how one sets up there camera. My love is wildlife and landscapes. Anyway…keep them coming.
Cheers J. The problem with setting up a camera is that there is no one way to do this, as it depend on the model of camera and the preferences of the user. If we did a feature on how we set up our cameras then we would probably just get a load of abuse from people telling us we are doing it wrong! Thanks for watching. All the best.
How very enjoyable. I was unable to attend the show this year so thank you so much Ruth for the walk about. Looking forward to the next one. Kind regards to all involved.
Once again another great episode. As we are still struggling with lockdowns and hotspots here in Australia and international travel a distant hope for next year, it was wonderful to be able to visit The Photography Show at Birmingham via your show. Thank you for this.
Outside of the normal cast of characters (and some are), I saw Gavin Hoey at the end in the Olympus booth, and he is one of the best educators around and should be great to do a segment with. Just saying. Thanks for hosting, Ruth.
I just discovered your show! Wow! So much information, engaging and easy to follow. Thank you! I'll be spending some time catching up to past shows. Question.. Will you please share model of ball head grip everyone uses in your show! I must have one!!
Hi Ann. Great to hear you found out channel - welcome! The grip head we use is a Manfrotto 322RC2. They don’t make them anymore but there are usually a few used ones going for sale on eBay. Hope this helps
I have discovered this channel a few days ago, and I absolutely love it! As an amateur photographer the tips are very very useful. Keep up the good work! Cheer’s from Portugal!
Great show as always. The feature on Autumn has given me a mental kick up the backside even after 40 odd years of serious photographic endeavour. I'll start planning!
Smashed it yet again guys, also it was great to meet you all at the show, and Marcus you convinced me - I was looking to buy the RF100-500 and you said go for the EF 100-400 mk2 and save a bit, I did and saved over £1000 and it works great with my R5.
Another super impressive episode, 10 ESSENTIAL STEPS to improve skills was really excellent. You people deserve a lot on such a nice presentation, congrats🌷
I have a dodgy back gamy knee and other bits are starting to fall off after 64 years on our dear planet....hence Olympus for me ...I can carry a lot of kit around all day long and still get excellent photos....if I pixel peep, I might get disappointed, yet my prints are a focus of pride for me at my local camera club !!
This is the Best Free Photography school online!! I've been watching since the start and enjoy every show! Thanks a million for the wealth of knowledge you guys/gals share and the laughs as well!
Eye AF? I bought a Canon Eos30V Mk2 in 2003 with this system and it worked fantastic. Why did it took so long to offer this technique again? Does it have to be calibrated like the 30V?
Another outstanding episode. Love the ECS "10 Skills in Order" PDF. Very useful reminder! Printed on 4x6 photo paper and text still large enough to read - even for my old eyes 🤓Thank you
Booked to fly to Birmingham from Ireland but informed the day before I was a close contact to a relative with covid so I'm in isolation. Nice to see this video.
You are right in that it is important. This is more the kind of topic we discuss on our monthly live webinar, as it is subjective so there is no right and wrong, but often good and less good ways to do it. Thanks for the suggestion.
Don't know if you covered it already, but it would be nice to know how you check the weather forecast for specific conditions like fog or perfect sunset clouds. Is there a app specifically made for photography in mind?
Hi Stefan. Good to hear from you again. There’s no doubt a photography app out there somewhere but we just use 2 or 3 general weather sites and cross reference them. Xcweather and windy.com are the ones we use the most. Hope this helps
Easily one of the best photography channels on You tube, the production is highly professional and a nice change from the normal vlog type that abound on you tube, which I should point out I also enjoy.
Excellent episode once again…. I particularly appreciated the “10 Steps” segment, useful reminder! ( I was getting a bit haphazard on some of trips outside, hopefully not anymore ) . Today will be binge watching the all the episodes to get back on track for the autumn 👍🏻
Would be good also to have other photography genres as you grow the channel ie street photography, studio, portraits etc. Great show and we really appreciate all of the efforts you put in to make this happen. Much love.
Hi Rene. Thanks for watching. The GW690 you saw is a mk I, so doesn’t have the lens hood which the later mk II and III had, so no modifications are required. I also have a GSW690 III which is difficult to use filters with. The mk I is certainly the better of the three versions in my opinion. The mk III has the spirit level and a shutter release lock which are both useful. The mk II seems to combine the worst of the other two versions. Hope this helps.
Looked like a good turnout for the show. We’re getting close to peak colors here in Upper Michigan, I am going to spend a lot of time traveling the Peninsula shooting this year. Thanks for another great show!👍
Thank you so much for another great show full of information!!! I look forward to each episode and always have pen and paper ready for your wonderful tips and lessons. As I'm sure everyone is, I'm looking forward to new merchandise in your shop. Would you please consider larger sizes for your shirts such as 3 xl and 4 xl? It would be greatly appreciated.
Another great show. And thanks for the check list. I will probably go back and watch the recommended shows and the check list will become part of my camera gear. Just one question, does your team have any suggestions for mid range tripods & square filter kits for the hobby photographer? I fully understand why Pro’s need expensive pro gear but thats not me. Most of my photos end up online, my own photo books and a few on the walls at home. I shoot Olympus. Thanks.
Hi Neil. Thanks for your question. For a midrange tripod which doesn’t cost too much then check out various options from Manfrotto. Don’t expect it to last a lifetime but it will suffice for a while as long as you look after it. For square filters, there really isn’t anything “mid range” as there is either “poor” or “expensive”. Don’t bother with the poor ones such as Cokin, as these won’t do your photos much good. We all use Kase as we consider them to be the best. For tripods we mostly use Kingjoy, but these are certainly pro spec rather than mid range. Hope this helps. All the best
Love your shows guys, very entertaining, professional & informative. I must admit that I don't always agree with all your opinions (looking at you Marcus 🤣) but I do always learn from your in-depth & knowledgeable approach to teaching. Film is dead to me 😜 I used Aperture Priority for years and swore by it. Now I have my R5, Manual & Auto ISO is my go to mode for wildlife and AV is still my preferred Landscape mode. I believe it all comes down to how you learn to use the tools you have to your (& their) best ability 😎 Summer is actually one of my favourite times to shoot, in fact I love all the seasons for their diversity & challenge. Here in Western Australia we get a lot of sunlight all year round so you learn how to find the right locations & techniques to make the most of it. Keep up the good work 👍
Cheers Dave. Summer here in the U.K. is generally seen as being the worst time of year for landscapes. Of course, you can still get great photos, but generally speaking, the landscape looks less appealing than it does at other times of the year. Add to this the higher volume of tourists, long days and annoying midges and it loses its appeal for many. So when autumn comes around, there’s a lot of fresh enthusiasm. It may be different in Australia. Thanks for watching. All the best.
Absolutely brilliant! Loved this episode! Especially the essential camera skills section and putting it all together, it's super handy, even for the experienced photographer. I was gutted I couldn't get to the photography show this year to come say hi, but maybe in 2022 :-)
