As a newbie to racing this year, loving these videos, especially the mountbatten and goodwood ones as they're my local tracks. Good to see how the racing plays out so I'm not completely unaware.
Loving the on-board footage! Relate to so much of what you’re saying in commentary - love crit racing but it can be so frustrating at times! Another strong result though.
Definitely gave it everything I had 😅 and for sure happy to still be in the mix in the sprint but it’s all good experience… hopefully a top 10 this week 🤞
Great video. So glad BC let you get on board footage. Will have to enquire about trying to get some BMCR masters racing footage. As have only been able to get weekend unofficial training race footage. Great commentary too, very natural
These videos are brilliant....so good to have on the bike footage. Your racing style is identical to mine. I get so bored sitting in and I have zero self control so you have to do something even if it falls apart. I call it 'animating the race' but really its just me looking like a tit :) Good luck at Abingdon tonight, I'm racing there next Wed so looking forward to picking up some tips 😄. Give it absolute beans. I've got good memories racing there, my favourite track.
Thanks mate… didn’t know how this would go down as a fair bit longer than my usual videos but hard to edit down an hour of racing and yeah got to just go out and give it some however it’s a high risk of just blowing up and getting dropped but all good fun 😂 looking forward to Abingdon not sure it will be good for me but will give it a hit… might see you at some of them I plan to do a few others 👌
Well done G. Love it you kept putting in the work regardless of how the race is going. Enjoyed the styling commentary on your performance. Can’t wait for the next one.
Thanks Richard 😃 It’s great having this footage and really enjoyed making the video… Getting to watch it back made me realise why I never have a sprint at the end of a race, I’ve already burnt all my matches 😂
Another great video - excellent footage! This seems hot for Cat 3/4 - have been looking at trying this one as the course might suit me - more beans required though! I'm with you about getting involved - you've got to go for it haven't you!! That mixed groups thing is quite disruptive eg when the E12 come though - found that at Thruxton. Great coverage of the finish too - quite scary!
Thanks Mark 😃 and definitely worth a try, I think it will be a good course for you… with such big fields if you’re in the peloton it’s actually pretty comfortable with just a few increases in pace… and with the track riding you have been doing a big sprint out of the final corner will be ideal 💪 always got to go for it, it’s what racing is all about 👌
Great riding in the race. Probably zero point clipping off the front on the first lap though ;-) Although I've tried that myself at GW and in some of the Surrey Leagues (stayed away for the whole race). You'd be faster with a set of aero wheels, so when you do a turn at ~400W you'd be much faster and the others wouldn't think you're glass cranking ;-). It's hard to get away solo at GW because of the high speed (i tried bridging up with 2ish laps to go, but just died a death). The elite race is smoother, and everyone pulls turns better, but it's much harder!
No such thing as zero point… as you never know 😜 Plus it’s all a bit of fun for me and a chance to get a good workout in… I can’t justify the price to sit in at 200w when I could just do a ride at home 😂 So I just go and give it whatever I have on the day… best way in my opinion, win or lose I then get something out of it 🤷♂️ Think before I worry about the marginal equipment gains I could definitely work on riding in a more aero position, as it’s not a strength of mine and it’s free 😂
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling for sure, i've attacked from the gun (and i've managed to stay away for an entire road race ~130km), but by and large it doesn't work. There's definitely no need to just sit in, you can definitely go off the front regularly both for training and seeing if you can stay away (I'd just wait until you've done a lap or two). I can't recall how you were positioned, but if you're around I'll try and show you the most aero positions. (I'll definitely just be sat in though as I'm totally toast from a 100mile RR yesterday).
@@cyclecoachcyclecoachcom8071 I find it a lot more exciting near the front as well… not sure I’ve got the speed to make anything stick unless I’m in a group of about 10 🤔 I’m not there tonight as I’m racing Abingdon tomorrow… will likely have similar problems around there 😂
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling I don't think I'm there either tonight (doesn't look like I've entered and I'm still sore from Sunday, so doesn't seem any point driving over!). I'm the same (needing a group to get away with). Good luck tomorrow at Abingdon (I haven't raced there so no idea if there's a hill in it or not!). When I used to race Eastway (showing my age) there was a hill there and that was great for breaking up the race... Keep up the great vids.
You touched on a point I always struggled with - £20 to enter + time and hassle of getting to and from the race. Then everyone just sits in the bunch for 45 minutes and does sod all until the penultimate lap. Unless you make some moves it's boring.
Couldn’t agree more! It’s partly why I love cyclocross, there is nowhere to hide and you go full gas 👌 I just can’t justify the money to sit in and do 200w when I could just go out the back door and do that 😂 plus I get easily bored 😅
Mega workout for sure and I can’t recommend it enough great fun to get involved with some racing and it’s all on the British cycling website 👍 they have a full list of events, absolutely loads to choose from 👌
Always wanted to record my races but though British cycling banded having cameras on. Did you ask permission from the organisers or just put the camera on and risk it?
I contacted British cycling for permission to use the camera and have special dispensation from them 👍 I only have permission in certain races that I applied for though… and certain rules come with it such as promoting racing in a good light etc 👌
I still need a hair cut! Great video mate. Class commentary! Well up for some serious whacking this year, but at VCGH we call it CHANKING
"I'm as good as a chocolate teapot". Love it! Nice videos, keep them up!
Ain’t that the truth 😂 thanks Luke appreciate it 👍

Loved this video. Seeing on board footage is fantastic! 😄😃😄 Hopefully BC keeps making this a thing!
Thanks Michael 😃 For sure it’s great exposure for the sport and to hopefully get more people in to racing 🤞
You’re videos rock. Getting me amped to race the 23’ season!!
🙌 some extra training motivation over the cold winter!

Thanks mate and for sure it’s great fun but very frustrating… even more so when the one move you don’t try and go with gets away 😂😂
Looks like a smashing effort putting yourself in the hurt locker. Still a good showing and still learning experience 💪🏼

Thanks Gavin 👌 and definitely worth asking the question it’s all great advertising for the sport and hopefully gets more people into racing 🙌
Enjoyed this a lot. Work out day , take that away with you, never a bad race day , maybe just a bad race.
They are certainly always a good workout and it’s always good training no matter the result 🙌

"I made it hurt, that's what important" - GC 2022 🤣 👌
😂 that’s the best part, finishing feeling the burn in your legs 😍
Great ride again. Loved the footage, you certainly do your fair share of the work. 👍
Thanks Gary 😃 and I just enjoy getting involved and riding as hard as I can on the day… it’s what it’s all about 👌

Nice footage... Great fun and commentary👍
Thank you 😃
I was the wheeler that ended in the break to the finish and was surprised to see how active the peloton was when we were out front
Well done you wheeler 👍
Quality ride Connor! Yeah we were all trying everything but you boys must have been putting out some serious power… absolutely flying 💪
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling the guy I was with averaged 4.5 watts per kilo for the last 40 minutes but I didn’t have a power meter
great video and commentary G, fair play, normal form - just pin it from the off and hold on :) well done, strong ride, great stuff

Think you need you get off your saddle for the sprint , but well done xx
Yeah I was too tired at the end and also on high alert that I didn’t get taken out 😂
Man Bun Man 🤣

Finally…lol
