Without sounding patronising, I find it so sweet that you, a 30 something year old man and former pro athlete at the highest level bring your parents to watch you do amateur bike racing! I love how supportive they are no matter what it is!
@@Etharnos-c1n Alex has done a couple of really good videos on tips for younger riders - search "Tips for younger riders" on his channel and you'll find them :D
Hey Alex, would be awesome if you could talk us through the race footage, especially when you have on-bike-cameras. NorCal Cycling is really great at it, and to be honest, getting insights and analyses from someone with your knowledge and experience would be amazing and isn't really available anywhere else. All the best, Niklas
Loved this. Genuinely more entertaining to watch than the Giro highlights I'd watched a little while before. The on-bike camera footage is great. Great video.
Brilliant coverage Alex, fabulous effort there. Its real seat of pants racing & felt like we were on bike with you. Look forward to you next event. 🚴♀️👍
Really enjoyed this Alex, town centre crits are really good, it also gives local people a chance to watch bike racing they would not normally see. We are lucky here we have the Otley and Ilkley Crits on our doorstep.
At 60 I've (re)started crit racing at cyclopark in Gravesend having only ever having done a handful before. Alex is damm right these events, from cat 4 to elite need support to survive. Otherwise they just disappear.
Great video, Alex. In my experience, there are only two options...'aim to win', and stay home. I'm not aware of any bike racer that ever sat on the start line saying, "I hope I finish second."
100% confidence matters on the start line, regardless of fitness, race craft, technical ability, etc. You’ve gotta go into a race with confidence or you’ll will a bad result into existence.
If you have the 'winning' attitude, even if if you don't have the fitness (yet), sometimes lady luck can intervene...but you have to have the attitude.
I did, and forgot, British crits do hit a little different though with the heavy braking zones and terrible road surfaces so this felt as new as Piccolo park did 😂
With the ketones do you get is it acute benefit so you could just take them on race day ? Or do you need to supplementing them for an extended period for example? Hope you can help
Dirty faces win races vs Jen's If you attack, you can either win or not win. If you don't go for it, you definitely won't win. Today was a win for the dirty faces next time who knows.

Appreciate that 😃 There's a lot of nostalgia as we're revisiting a lot of the races I did as a kid about to embark on a career. Thank you
@@AlexDowsettOfficial Hi Alex as an ex-pro do you have any tips for someone my age (16 almost 17) trying to reach the pro peleton?

What a great video! 🎉 Showing the British cycling scene at its best 🚲 Fingers crossed that the money side can follow… 🤞
Great video! Was cool to see this after watching Alec's Tekkers video.
This fellow is a real gentleman athlete.
The on bike footage is an absolute must and really improves the quality of the content!! Great job. Keep up the good work!!
Your dad filmed so nicely
Loved the race footage. It gives those not able to participate an idea of what goes on ... Thank you for doing that. Brilliant.
Thanks for coming along Alex. Being one of those chaps with beers in our hands at the top of the hill, we too felt tired afterwards. Great video.
Nice scaling and framing on your new camera set up-feels a lot more "first person" than the fisheye gopro many use.

Same. I was actually fast forwarding through the Giro highlights
@@ianw5119 the start of todays giro stage was explosive on the live coverage...attacks going all the time...the end was less so
What a great course where you can get out of sight inside 1 length of the circuit.
Love a break away, keep it up young man.
awesome Alex you were flying!! 👍😁nice outfit!
Great to be in a bike race with you again after 18 years. Hope to catch up with you properly at one in the future.
Nice adventure Alex.
Such a tight course.
Alex vs Alec - Great vid as always - keep these coming
Great video, very exciting footage and shows amazing bike handling skills by all the riders.
Love to watch these but I'd poo myself racing it! Great video!
I am glad to see that I am not the only person who’s Garmin says multiple days for recovery.
Great effort, fantastic result for first time in forever. Wheels sounded mint too.
Great video, great camera angle on the stem, very interested in science behind keytone-iq.

As a very average triathlete and shite cyclist the technical skills shown on that course were scary - in an impressive way!

Dave. Check out BMCR. Racing most weekends and every Thursday evening local to you with like minded age group races.

There's quite a few riders at the Giro 2024 who were sitting on the start line saying "I hope I come second".
Great vid
Love the escort estate🎉
Was hoping someone would notice 😉
Great video. I’d love more analysis, your knowledge and experience are phenomenal and we can learn a lot from you
Scrolling Facebook lately B like: "Hi I'm Alex Dowsett"
Your mum’s finish line reaction cracked me up 🤣
On yer right....
That's left
Oh, on yer left - sorry!
That was box office. Just shows how under pressure you make poor choices. We have all done it.
Was hoping someone would pick up on that 😂😂
Such a great insight. Same there isn’t more crit racing in the UK as I’d love to get involved. Do you know who the Chinese team were?
Awesome video Alex, town centre crits look like great fun. Do you have any plans to do any of the Nat A's this year?
Town centre crit racing ground to a halt once Sunday trading became a thing.
Great that your parents are there. :)
You raced a crit in miami with us this past winter too

Alex. Get a team together for these. It would be awesome.
Great stuff Alex, what an effort, will we be seeing you at Goodwood for the RCR races this year?
Yes, the 4up ttt and handicap

You should reach out to to norcal cycling and do a breakdown of the race with him
Turned up cuff on your sleeve losing you watts. Sort that out and it’s a win. 🙌🏽
Tagliatelle or Linguine ?
What are you using to do those data overlays on the right side?
Buy yourself some BananaWax Drag & Friction Reduction Professional TdF Racing Chain Wax.

Where was this event?
Strongest rider in the race had to ride for his influencer teammate.🤦🏻♂️
