(Yes I am yelling this) PUT JUSTIN ALLGAIER IN THE FOX BOOTH FOR AT LEAST TWO CUP RACES!!! He brings an intelligent and knowledgeable voice as well as a relatable perspective of the cars and racing. He’s a veteran of the Cup series who has actually driven the next gen car in multiple scenarios, something NO OTHER ANALYST has done. I’ve been a fan of his for a long time and have great respect for him both in and out of the car.
Man I love the old nascar stories, but man I love the The logistical side of racing , and I really Love how smart Dale And Allgaier sound talking about some logistical terms we don’t hear all the time in nascar. He is probably one of my Favorite guest now . Keep up the great work guys .
Larry Mac needs to have a cut away car on the broadcast soon like they did back in the day to show us fans how the floor of the new car looks in layers. Because it looks live a matchbox car to me.

Yesterday I watched a documentary called, something like, "The Day" about the 1992 Hooters 500, at Atlanta. It was one of the greatest NASCAR races of all time. Heck, 92' was probably one of the greatest years. So much drama, so many stories, just for one race. It was on a track that no longer exists, a 1.5 mile pure oval race track. I'd love to see another 1.5 pure, high banked oval on the schedule.
Homesteads banking transition going in and out of the corners is also much quicker or in other words the track gets flatter quicker. Whereas the original Atlanta Motor Speedway’s 1.5 mile “true” ovals corners had a much more longer and slower transition again going in and out of the straightaways
Even from just a casual NASCAR fan, this is evident in all the old footage of the original AMS. I would compare Homestead and Atlanta similar to Daytona and Talladega in terms of the transitional Banking.
As a lifelong Jeff Gordon fan we always cheered against and hated Earnhardt SR and Def JR but all these years after Sr died and Jr retired I have a new respect for both. Dale SR is the GOAT by far. BAR NONE. But since Jr retired we've all seen a differently side of him. A more down to earth humble Jr. His raceways show plus this podcast I've learned to love JR. He's a great commentator and I'm Def a fan of Jr now.

That is Ludacris Speed! Or Madness, going 180 miles per hour while in the middle of a 180 degree is out there where the bus don't run. To everyone outside the United States that's almost 300 kilometers per hour 😳 That was a great debrief on New Atlanta
Yeah center corner speed is crucial the faster you can get through the center the faster you off speed is faster which inter increases your end of straight speed so don't worry about straight speed get corner speed and the straight will come
My biggest problem with the sport these days isn't just the lack of straightaway speed on corner entry.. it's the whole aero package "philosophy" since 2019. This whole idea that they need to recreate pack racing at every 1.5 mile track on the schedule, to turn the engine power down and raise downforce levels to promote side by side racing where you can practically hold it flat out from entry to exit, until the tires start really falling off. It's like watching guys running qualifying laps over and over. As someone who hasn't raced a real cup car but has put a lot of time in on sims like iRacing, this style of driving doesn't interest me AT ALL. At Daytona and Talladega, that's different. That's an entirely different beast and that's what made those tracks special, you went to them 4 times a year, that's it. Now the cup cars race more like the trucks. The whole change feels like an overreaction to the dirty air phenomenon. I'd love to see the cup cars go back to what they once were, ditch these massive spoilers, bring the power back up and lower the speed in the center back down. Make them more of a handful to drive, drive more off the right-rear, etc. Where you carry a lot of speed on entry but you need to lift and let the car roll through the center. If you watch an onboard from say 2014 and compare it to the last couple years, you'll know what I mean. Entry speeds were much higher in the past but you spent a lot more time OFF throttle during entry and center. And that transferred over to driving on the iRacing sim back in the day, since it followed whatever NASCAR did with their rules package in the real world. That style of driving was way more interesting to me, and even spectating it as a fan it was more interesting. I'm not interested in watching pack racing every single week of the schedule, I liked seeing the comers and goers on the 1.5 mile tracks in the past. Sure, cars got more strung out back then but different cars were better at different stages of the race. Some people had short run cars, others had long run cars, and that's an aspect I loved about it. Really hoping NASCAR goes back to it eventually, because as of now...I just haven't been all that interested and I haven't been tuning in on Sundays as much as I used to.
@@dwaynedonnelly Oh there's been tons of intermediate 1.5 mile tracks on the calendar over the years. Just to rattle off a few: Texas, Atlanta, Chicagoland, Kansas, Kentucky, Las Vegas, Homestead, etc. They're usually the bread & butter tracks for NASCAR over it's yearly schedule. My comment was mainly referring to the fact that NASCAR in recent years, with these high downforce, lower engine power cars, is that they've turned a lot of these tracks into pseudo restrictor plate tracks, where the drivers can get around them flat out without needing to lift much in the corners. Or at least this was most obvious in 2019 when they made the aero package switch after they initially tested it at Indy the previous year. If I had things my way, which I obviously don't, I'd much rather go back to the days where the cup cars had a lot more power, less downforce, no reliance on ground effect aero with the cars practically dragging the race track from being so low to the ground with the front splitter playing such a massive role. That's just me though.

Ya know you hear alot about how NASCAR tries to make racing safer and of course the tracks and then cars are way safer than they used to be. I mean I just watched a video that shows the inside of one of the cars from the late 80's early 90's, think it was Harry Gant's car and the driver was sitting in a bucket seat from a regular car. Okay so all of that is safer but what they've done to Atlanta is to create a short Daytona/Talladega, with all the bumper to bumper 30-40 car pack stuff and of course all the wrecks that come with it. How is this improving the safety or IMO the racing? I only watch the very ends of races at Daytona and Talladega, the rest of it is just a pack of cars, bumper to bumper running around in circles with a couple of huge wrecks, then after a wreck they go right back to a slightly smaller pack. At the end it gets interesting so I watch that. I used to religiously watch nascar in case anyone who reads this wonders
The speeds were lower than the old Atlanta speedway, IMHO it's not a super speedway any more, if the banking defines it, then Bristol is a super speedway also. Is this correct thinking?
Unfortunately yes. And many nascar “fans” love it. I’m with the drivers. But hey it gives those drivers struggling with real talent a chance at the lottery!
NASCAR is ruining the sport. I'm a race fan. Not a crash fan. They want every race to be like Daytona and Talladega. Now Atlanta has turned into a "big one" track. The cars are supposed to be such that they can go way faster than the track can handle. Flat footing it around the whole track is ridiculous. They may as well limit the cars to 100 miles per hour that will be safe pack racing. I tune in for the last ten laps anymore just to see who wins so I have a lot more free time on race day these days. I was a die hard nascar fan but if I want to see "racing" I'll watch sprintcar. Safety has come so far it's time to see Daytona and Talladega being used as they were intended. As SUPER speedway. They should be rolling around at 220 not 198. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way. NASCAR has sold out. It's like a metal band that has sold out to the record company to sell records playing"lighter" stuff to get air play. NASCAR thinks fans want to see wrecks. Real race fans don't like wrecks. It causes delays. I want to see who has the biggest balls and has the best car control and the best engineering to sustain long runs at speed. If they want everything the same just bring back the IROC series. Oh wait Tony Stewart and Ray Evernham already did that. Unfortunately I believe Nascars golden years are long gone. It's just a novelty now.

MONT SCHASZ, NASCAR team don't have any tire compound options. Goodyear chooses tires for each track, not the teams.

i don,t when the terms changed but back in the days nascar refered to any track one mile or over as a superspeedway as they should be.
Robert Magnuson, Try again. Atlanta is 1.5 mile. NASCAR super speedways are over 2 miles. Only two in NASCAR. Daytona and Talladega.
Once someone pulls up trying to pass them the thoughts of the track changes will be forgotten.
