I know its been over 20 years but anybody talking about or telling a story of dale earnhardt puts a smile on my face and brings back great memories. He is truly missed and never will we forget him
The intimidator imgage he potrayed but yet the humble down home guy Boris talks about here, yeah that is Dale. The media gave him the image and he ran with it (beyond smart of his part), but in the end he had a heart of gold and was as humble as anyone, even if he didn't want anyone knowing it.
Boris had a reputation of racing just about anything, anywhere, that was offered to him ... and he usually did a pretty good job of it! Highly entertaining guy.

@@Dr.Strangmeme there weren’t really that many road course ringers when Bobby Allison was racing or during Rusty or Earnhardt’s prime. There would always be a few, but the real age of road course ringers was in the early 2000s when teams started to keep struggling drivers in danger of missing the field at home, and instead hire a ringer for the weekend to make sure they made the race and picked up some owners points, this was even more the case after 2005 when the top 35 rule came in as teams without a guaranteed start would hire ringers to get them in the show, while teams barely ahead of the cutoff would also hire ringer to give them more of a cushion. Also sometimes rookie drivers would be replaced by a ringer so they could concentrate on perfecting the oval tracks. This all fell apart with the financial crisis as a lot of teams folded and the only teams left battling for the top 35 were underfunded or even start and park teams, thus the ringers usually ended up in these cars from 2009 onwards. The Cup drivers also got much better at road racing, so even on the odd occasion that a road course ringer is in good equipment they still rarely are able to contend for the win
I’ve always liked Boris, but now I love him. And I love The Intimidator more too. Just two rad dudes being awesome dudes. Just a friend making a couple of PB&J’s because the other friend sarcastically asked for a PB&J No Crust
Damn I never realized how cool of a guy Boris is. Great show jr and mike. As always legendary guests. I sometimes imagine some of the fantasy conversations you could have with some the drivers that have past away over the years. Can you imagine how wonderful a davey allison conversation or a conversation with Alan kulwicki would be or seeing jr have his dad and Neil bonnett on together for the podcast in an alternate reality where davey took a car to talladega to see neil practice instead of the helicopter, and Alan stayed home sick instead of getting on that plane and Neil bonnett was able to find satisfaction in retirement and Dale sr ran out of gas before the last lap of the 2001 daytona 500, damn I can only imagine what Sr would think of all the technology that exists today and hear his thoughts on social media. But things happen for reasons unknown. 2 awesome episodes to start the season can’t wait to see what’s next.
I’ll never forget Dale Sr and his last race. My dad died on Christmas Day of 2000. Then came 2001 Daytona. Dad and I used to watch NASCAR each sunday but now I’m watching it without him. It was strange to watch that race to say the least but then when the crash happened and the announcement was made that Dale was gone it was just like the world was going to hell in a hand basket.
Boris said to Dale Sr. make me a peanut butter and jelly, and he did.Could you imagine being served a sandwich by Dale Sr. Priceless memory. As always great stories, thanks Dirty Mo !!!
Great story. The best part of the shows are learning who the true people are rather than the public persona. People forget that these professionals are human too.
Man, THANK YOU Dale Jr., this channel is freakin' awesome!! The stories we get to learn about and hear are entertaining as hell... Truly priceless stuff. Boris Said is one of those guys I always found to be super interesting, being he was so NOT a 'nascar guy' in the typical sense. I kinda always guessed he might be snobby or 'sophistacated' in real life probably, but after watching this vid, I'm glad I was off base with that idea. What a cool cat- down to earth, eager to help, just a genuine nice guy. AWESOME vid, thanks to Dale Jr. and the crew for putting these vids out, very informative AND entertaining in all aspects.
Any story about Earnhardt around the shop just makes me happy, don’t know why....I was a senior in HS when the true “GOAT” of all sports passed.....I don’t even come from a family that follows nascar....but Earnhardt and Junior......could listen too and listen about all day with a smile!!! Thanks jr for taking the time to even do this
Hanging in the hauler ,eating P&J with Dale Earnhardt Sr .......wow! What a great story. Dale Sr was the man no doubt but would be just a regular guy around unsuspecting people who were amazed he was even talking to them. Love these behind the scene stories.
I live in california and boris said is my favorite " drive anything" racer , I've seen him race at laguna seca many times , I live in monterey , but always enjoyed going to sears point to run nascar , he's a great guy and I hear he's running some nascar races this year , love you boris !!!!!!!!!😍😍😍
Smile never came off my face. I remember the race at Watkins Glen that he's talking about. There were a huge bunch of Said fans there with Said wigs. One of the best road course racers ever.
I used to tech inspect cars at Lime Rock. I remember Boris running a GT-1 or trans am corvette sponsored by Valley Chevrolet...he was one of the few drivers that would treat the SCCA volunteers well. He is a genuine, nice, person and was always friendly to us. Always a smile and a quick joke. And quick! It's good to see him again. I hope he is doing well.
Man, don't know how I missed this one but what a great piece with Boris. I knew the dude was cool but had no idea just how much. Awesome stories that would make anyone smile. I couldn't speak either when I met Dale Earnhardt and got his autograph , starstruck .
