I just bought my 2020 version of a 20 KW Fortress Next Gen - 6 year warranty. I spent more for the 6 year warranty but I used a local small engine repair shop and retailer. They have a partnership with a local man that comes out to your house during bad weather/storms/worse and will fix. He also sets you up for a schedule if you want to have him do all the oil changes/spark plugs, etc. The unit is much louder than I thought. even with the lid closed and about 40 feet back my decibel app registered about 78 to 82 db. The installers app registered 67 at 20 feet. If we lose all power though I am sure the neighbors won't mind as they will probably be coming over. The cost included generator, auto-transfer switch, all cabling and I am using natural gas. The stand is concreted in and using natural gas. Been waiting to move to a place with natural gas and a long time purchase of a home. real happy so far!
They take just under 2 Quarts. I like to put in ~ 1.75 Quarts and begin checking the dipstick. After you drain the oil, replace the oil filter, and fill it up, I like to check the dipstick first, run it for about 5 minutes and then check the dipstick again. Depending on what oil filter you use, they will require ~1.6 - 2.0 Quarts We sell parts online at marrpower.co
If you're without power, and only looking to keep your refrigerator cold, I'd suggest every 2-3 hours if you haven't opened the fridge doors. More frequently if you're opening the refrigerator doors.
Typically residential air cooled generators have a ~2,000 hour life expectancy. This varies greatly depending on climate conditions and level of preventative maintenance service performed. The generator can run non-stop, provided it does not have fuel interruptions, for up to 200 hours which is when it is suggested to change to the engine oil.
I have had this generator for 5 years so far and runs like new. Lost power a few times with longest outage of 2 days. Ran non stop and whole house had power. Even electric dryer and furnace were running at same time with tons of lights etc. Love this generator.
Did you change the oil recently..?? You may have over filled the crankcase.... The crankcase vent is hooked up to the intake side of the carb so oil can be shooting back up thru there IF there is too much oil in the crankcase... If its an old unit with lots of use it can be a damaged cylinder wall or defective pistons rings allowing oil to seep thru and exit thru the carb... What air filter do you use..??
I wish I could get somebody in my area to figure out what's up with my 20 kW Briggs generator we bought this thing and had it installed for peace of mind it runs every Wednesday for about 10-15 minutes exercising and shuts off like it should we had our first power outage yesterday it came on ran for about 30 minutes shut off fault code said under speed not sure if there were any other faults call the electrician installed it he's too busy to get to it right now called Briggs they gave me numbers of some other technicians. There has to be a answer to why it's doing this that's all I want to know why am I getting an under speed reading and the generator shutting off we're not running a lot of appliances the only thing on here at the house is our air conditioner in a few lights we're not overloading it. So so far peace of mind is out the window.
@@devinstevens3129 Generac makes their own engines and they are designed for long run times. Briggs and Kohler use an engine that is designed for lawn mowers. Designed to run an Hour or 2 and then be shut off. Generac is designed to run for days or weeks. I am a generator tech and saw more engine issues with kohler and briggs than generac
This generator is way more confusing than the generac generator. The house I'm buying has a Briggs and Stratton and I'm not looking forward to having to maintain it.
I have this generator and do my own maintenance. Extremely easy. I choose to change the oil, air filter and spark plugs once a year. The only thing I do not like about it is the oil drain hose as it is very low to the ground and not easy to pour into a container when draining. So instead I use a oil syphon pump you can get from amazon that goes down into the dipstick tube and just pump it out from there. ( warm the engine for five minutes first). But all in all I love this generator.

I would recommend this to anyone
*Very quiet, no issues with starting digital **Generator.Systems** And running on Propane*
Great to hear. Propane burns clean
I believe that engine is made in Japan by Daihatsu, not the US as you state. Anyway it is an excellent engine.
That's good because it's most likely a Toyota rebranded engine.
Very nice video, but it's hard to see components because there is a lack of lighting for your video.
Does it need an lpg conversion kit or does it use natural gas and lpg interchangeably?
8 years later how is it running thanks.
What's the code to reset the maintenance
How has that generator been working out for you ?
How much oil do they take for an oil change and part number for the oil filter would be helpful!

How often should I run my generator to keep my refrigerator cold?

What's the price compared to the major brands like CUMMINS ONAN POWER GENERATION AND GENERAC GUARDIAN SERIES?
Does this generator have an expected hour use life? 10k, 30k? Can it run nonstop for a week or two?

I have this unit but its an older one , It started pushing oil to the carburator, what causes this and how can i repair?

Why a Briggs over a Kohler or Generac ..??
Kohler Gen Sets are made with a Briggs Engine. Generac's can't run long term.
What is considered long term..??
