How the end times should of felt is in that trailer.
imagine if they had just delayed the game by about 6-8 months instead. this game would have SOOO much better reception. instead we had 6 months of having to use mods to get rid of portals, and another 6 months of basically just playing IE Warriors of Chaos becase all the other races felt kinda shit. literally havent even touched the game since last october because you can only play WoC so much...

One thing I love about Teclis as the delegate is that it's quite possible the High Elves literally didn't want to send anyone and Teclis went on his own since he views that as a stupid decision. It's very High Elf to be attacked by the forces of Chaos and the Dark Elves but still be too prideful to ask for help.
...and even then he still couldn't rein in the natural Asur arrogance when he assumes the alliance would operate "Under the Asur's guidance", hence Thorgrim calling him out
Oh exactly, I seem to remember the lore suggests that his support of humans against Asavar Kul was both a rebellious, and personal decision. He was definitely one of only two or three Elves that attended that Conclave and aided Magnus the Pious, and was presumably met with dismissal and even contempt by his people

@@SleightCreative The problem I have with this trailer is, that most scenes, as good as they are, are only shown a short time. So if you don't pause every second, you feel like you miss something, which creates unrest.
On the other hand the story trailer remains on every scene a while, so you can without problems follow the whole thing without constant pausing.

I really like Karl is surrounded by millennia old beings, fellow rulers and powerful magic users and yet with one swing he's able to get everyone to listen. He really is the best statesmen and a true emperor of man

Wish they just made it a separate timeline and let them win in the end. I mean 40k is also just an alternative universe. So why not do away with the shitty end times and keep it for AOS storyline. They can fix it now and make a new story after this ‘end times’ fight.

I hope they go as in depth with the End Times as 40k is doing with the Horus Heresy. There are too many factions and characters for GW to deal with in a relatively short series of books.
@@mikabakker1 I think that's the best way to go about it. I don't have a problem with the End Times conceptually, I just hate how a lot of it played out (my beloved High Elves were butchered by the writing). It would have been a lot better and arguably more grimdark in a good way if the Order factions actually put up a damn good fight without any of the backstabbing and side switching, and in the end it just wasn't enough.

@@loremasterofsotek Cooperative interactions between the Order races is some of the coolest parts of the lore, IMO. Like you said in the video, it takes all the past trailers and narrative bits and delivers it as one combined vision here. It makes me excited for the future of this incredible game.

@@loremasterofsotek i think i found Vilitch and Kholek! At the last shot before the main title shows up! Vilitch is running in front of the mammoth and Kholek is running behind it! Very hard to spot but I think its them!
The Voice acting is so good in this series but Franz really takes the cake for me. His VA is so bloody powerful.
The way he said "power" was beautiful, not only the voice but the animation of the face was perfect too

They really know how to pick the VAs. I can't think of a single character who's voice isn't perfect
His voice actor isn’t anyone famous or important what’s amazing and cool to me is that much like the actually Karl Franz the voice actor was just some dude who rose to the occasion.
TLDR: Karl Franz’s Voice Actor is just the voice actor for Roman units in Total War Rome 2.
He would be a good fit to voice Roboute Guilliman in a W40K game.

The people that made this trailer must have 100% done it for people like Loremaster. I'm sure they watched this reaction, and they probably got so much satisfaction watching him pick up on so many subtle details and get so hyped.
This trailer was just... beautiful, like STUNNINGLY beautiful, the most loving of love letters, but I swear, it's made the End Times writing hurt all over again. Not so much in how it all turned out in the end, but the missed opportunities for wholesome buddy cop parings, reconciliations and setting aside ancient grudges, and legendary last stands. God it could have been so GOOD. Gah. Bravo, CA. This is magnificent. Please make a movie.

A mountain of odd choices, uncoordinated authors, and a vague sense of it all being rushed out the door aside, I think what bugged me the most was the lack of closure, to be honest. If you're going to slam the book closed on this chapter of a setting I've been invested in for over twenty years, that's fine - all good things must come to an end and it had a good run, but let my investment go out with some satisfying closure, guys. This trailer was all of a few minutes long, and I was almost as giddy as you pointing at bits that would have been AMAZINGLY satisfying. The talented folk at CA just demonstrated it can be done, and hopefully one day it will!
I'd honestly like to see them treat it like the Horus Heresy in 40k. Expand on it and all that with a bunch more set up
@@loremasterofsotek I actually disagree (but not in a "How dare you!" kind of way, just a differing opinion). I preferred the attitude taken by GW a few editions before, when the tone was a "Crossroads of Destiny" thing, where the world was at a tipping point between destruction and salvation and it could go either way. Having Chaos as the predestined winner always feels to me like short-changing everyone else. And for that matter making any Chaos successes less important too; they're gonna win anyway so what does it matter what any individual Chaos army does?
Loremaster just perfectly sums up my feelings on TWW, there's missteps, and things are moving slower than I'd like, but all of that is so small to me compared to seeing a setting I had loved and thought abandoned, brought back by people that clearly love it as much as I do
Hard to care that much knowing the shitty end times exist. No future just death… kinda kills it for me even im a new fan of fantasy.

I do think it's fair to be frustrated as we may be over how the pacing and payoff was handled, there was more than just the odd plot hole and anti-climax to story arcs, however there were just so many characters that doing them all justice would have taken years, I would have liked to see something detailed like HH but continuing past AoS' release would have been torture! 😅 I get you though, and I'm glad you tempered your initial comment cause as rushed as it was, it opened up so many possibilities moving forward for video games, tabletop settings, and maybe even another stab at WHFB from the beginning all over again! Who knows what will come over the next 20 years and beyond!

U can see the flaws of both older races here, the high elves immediate assumption that their guidance is superior while the dwarves famous stubbornness unables them to adapt and survive on dire situations. That's y humans are strongest among the other races they are like the lite version of skaven if one day all of them decided to unite in one banner, very adaptive and has many variants all across the world, and yet that is also what makes them weak their adaptiveness. Anyways f'in cool trailer now I don't know wat faction to play and DAYMN I wish there were more lizardmen in the trailer.
But chaos has flaws in that their backstabbing is only surpassed by the skaven
The dwarfs stubbornness is not what prevents them from wanting an alliance, it was the elves arrogance and there disrespect, the stubborn nature of the dwarfs are just as much a boon as it is a hindrance, if you make a deal with them they will never break it, but in turn you cannot act like an elf
@@calebbarnhouse496 true, the perks of the races in Warhammer is both their boon and bane, example the dwarf stubbornness made them resistant mentally and physically high moral, convicted in their crafts making them perfectionist and great let's say in smithing, consistent in their ideology if they decide to promise and do something for as long they live even in death nothing will stop them, this very unique trait had benefited them greatly and made them known and unique but it's also contributed to their downfall and degradation, their stubbornness and prides makes them narrow-minded, hinders them to adapt, let's say in the end times even if it's shitty, despite dire situations knowing that's it's better for all dwarf king to unite and allied with other races, they didn't they were disorganized and their stubbornness not to live their karaks led to them almost being extinct, not just that you can see it on many history of the dwarfs how their famous trait degraded them, war of the beards their relentless hate and desire for vengeance loss them many kins eventually bites them back after the war, in aspect of technology, a human can make so much progress in matters of decades and yet a dwarf will take centuries before considering to even innovate and upgrade, in terms military, like the fight on karak eight peaks by belegar is more on stubbornness to take back their home rather than a rationality or advantage, it's just pointless battle the dwindling number of the dwarves being further stretch vs unending hordes of enemies, what do they gain here in the long run?honor? Their stubbornness is what also contributed to the slowly fading of rune arts in the dwarf empire, a runelord is very secretive and selfish of his knowledge and will take many centuries before he passes it down because of his high standards, despite knowing that their a very few runesmith and if one of them die basically a library of rune arts will be lost, but still he would rather choose tradition rather than survivality of the art. This is what I meant that the races unique trait is both a boon and bane for them, dwarfs are not only one like this all of the races are like this, humans are very adaptive that's why they survive more and has many variants and yet this also has bite them back, a righteous human could instantly one day turn into the darkest of one, the ability to quickly change had contributed to the many evils in the world, the slanns want to extinct them since they are the most contributant of both chaos power and forces in the world and yet this trait has also benefited them greatly, in terms of technology they are very close to the dwarves, they have everything from magic, they are the most well rounded races, what an elf living for thousand of years do is incomparable to what a man can do if he was given the same lifespan.

Head-canon: Vlad shows up in a puff of purple smoke, "I see my invitation was lost on the road!"
Theres so many details I love about this trailer, you covered a lot of them, but I just love the little subtle moment where Thorgrim looks down when Franz says "We either die alone-" because... Well, if you know Dwarf lore, this is more or less the mentality of their people. They are a proud and stubborn race who see failure and can only atone for their mistakes with death. If they cannot defend their realms then they disappoint all those ancestors who came before, and therefore deserve death to atone for their failure.
Most dwarfs know that this line of thinking is inherently suicidal, and their race is really on the way out. They struggle and die but they do so proudly, but their pride typically means they do so alone. Thorgrim knows this, and the conflict thats so rich that occurs with all the named dwarf heroes which is balancing pride and duty to the ancestors conflicting with the duty to those who live... Well, you can see that he can't look Franz in the eye because of this conflict, he knows he must trust this idea of an alliance, thats why hes here in person, but he also can't get over the deep distrust and prejudice against many of the races there engrained in their culture and civlization.
Like, just a phenomenal moment with the music and the expression, he coulda been just staring absentmindedly at Franz but instead we get this little subtle action with insurmountable weight and story.
Total war has always done such a great job with their reveal movies, their hard work has made me a big fan.
Damn, that trailer is top notch. Also them making Immortal Empires breakdown like that is fantastic to help new people get into a fantastic series.
You know in that moment where Teclis kind of withers, that was ABSOLUTELY a "Fuck I wish I was like Tyrion" moment.
But shit, I almost cried too during all of this. I am a more recent fan of WH Fantasy because of this series and I'm still tearing up out of sheer epic.

This is so great and exciting. The trailers they have released have gotten better and better, as well as the DLCs. I am sure the chaos dwarfs will be a very fun faction to play. Absolutely worth the months of waiting. Now I am feeling the excitement to try out factions like Bretonnia and Kislev that I thought I will never try out.

In the last shot of Archaeon, you can in fact see part of Festus Leechlord there, you can see the cauldron on his back on the left in front of that Changer of Ways
This trailer and your analysis made my day- love all of this and it’s genuinely awesome to see you get excited about this. Cheers bro
Something I just noticed: while the designs don't match perfectly, the faction representatives for Cathay (a Lord Magistrate and a Dragon-blooded Shugengan) and Kislev (a Frost Witch and a Boyer) match the faction leaders for the most prominent minor factions of those races. The Lord Magistrate could represent the Celestial Loyalists (who start in Cathy's Capital and directly serve the Dragon Emperor) and the Dragon-blooded Shugengan could represent the Imperial Wardens (who start owning the three Gates of the Great Bastion). Since the great dragons are busy trying to stabilize Cathay, those factions would be suitable for representing the Dragon Emperor and understanding the dire situation in the Bastion.
Likewise, the Boyer could represent the Ropsmenn Clan (who start controlling Praag) and the Frost Witch could represent the Druzhina Enclave (who start in Realms of Chaos controlling Erengard). If Kislev is under attack, Katarin could have easily decided the two leaders of the other major Kislevite cities would be able to assess if an alliance was possible while she leads the Ice Court and Kostaltyn leads the Great Orthodoxy in the Motherland's defense.
If that's the case, it even further hammers home Thorgrim's point - the High Elves couldn't even be bothered to send the head of one of the major factions, while other nations in similarly dire straits still sent leaders with respectable authority to the alliance talks.
All in all though, this really makes me want a campaign setting that plays out like this. A mode where if you're playing a chaos faction, you have to first go around "convincing" the other factions (by, say, challenging Grimgor to a brawl to see who da strongest boss is, subjecting Belakor's forces to unite them under your will, or assassinating dissenters in the skaven council until they unite behind you) that it's time to unite and then launching an unstoppable wave against the bastions of order.
Conversely, you could play as an order faction committed to seeing the alliance happen and have to fulfill loyalty missions to convince the other order factions to unite (like sending an army to break a greenskin siege in Karaz a Karak convinces Thorgrim, helping the wood elves guard the worldroots convinces the Sisters of Twilight, launching a surgical strike against an enemy ritual convinces Teclis or Oxyotl, etc.). Perhaps even once you manage to commit a faction to the alliance, instead of becoming their military ally you actually gain control over them, allowing you to directly control the expanding waves of chaos or the growing bulwark of order (maybe you can only start as either Karl Franz and Archaon but as it progresses you grow to include all the other factions in the gameplay).
And once your side is united, launch a final invasion of the other side to try to fully tip the scales towards chaos or order. A grand end-times campaign to showcase the final battles between chaos and order, that you can tip either way through your strategies and how well you guided your subordinates up to that point. Tbh if I had any idea how to mod, I'd already be working on it myself lmao
YOOOO I just remembered that Skarbrand, Felix and Gotrek all have a unique history with Thanquol
Thanquol once accidentally summoned Skarbrand which led to some zany shenanigans, and Thanquol is a recurring villain in the Gotrek and Felix books. That shot in the trailer really screams "where is Thanquol?"

Love the feeling this trailer gives. The whole beginning shows the good races on the back foot, besieged everywhere. Then the feeling turns, from a feeling of hopelessness to resisting. Finally, we get to see the races for good actually charging the enemy, taking the fight to them. That just got me so pumped seeing them strike back.
But really, this needs a show. I’ve always thought the people who did the Castlevania series on Netflix could do a good job with this. I’d like a live adaptation, but I’m always hesitant with them, they never seem to workout.
26:00 i have been saying that since i got in to the game series and started to get in to the lore too. Like having just 5-6 Steam Tanks, very few monstrous units and unlimited numbers of Skaven slaves but very few humans like Kislevites and so on. Yeah i would pay money for that.

He does not only question that Teclis speaks for all the high elves. Rather Thorgrims questions hints to the fact that the elves are devided among each other and that Teclis would not represent the dark elves. So basically like Gotrek in one of his discussion with Teclis in the Giantslayer novel.

You can see festus with the cauldron and the nurglings administering it on the shot at around 43:51 I think.

Loremaster of Sotek - mate your enthusiasm, passion and emotion for this is astounding and that alone gives me the chills, let alone the damn cinematic! I've loved Warhammer Fantasy Battle since the early 1990s but missed out on a lot of the lore as didn't read many novels but this hits all the right feels for me. What a culmination! :D

On a serious note when this game first released I was incredibly concerned, however since the release of immortal empires I’ve never had more enjoyment of a total war game than I have now, And it only continues to impress me.
I feel like this trailer ABSOLUTELY displays a deep understanding of the lore, to make this pairings, at these locations, with these reasonable placements of characters.
I love that they foreshadowed the bromance that Gelt would go on to have with Zhao Ming in his revamped campaign! Metal 🤘

They cut to Archaon when the high king says "a reckoning" because Archaon also says that line often in the game.

I don't know if anybody paid attention to the map on the table. Actually there are six sets of pawns (sorta). Those six are the Dwarfs (in Karaz Karak), the Elves (southern part of Ulthean), Bretonnia (the Bretonnian shore), the Empire (Reikland), Kislev (northern Kislev and eastern Norsca) and Grand Cathay (somewhere deep in Cathay). No Wood Elves, no Tomb Kings, no Lizardmen.
Ps. I'd love to see in the next trailer the Council of Darkness (opposite to this Council of Light) where all the Bad Guys would get together and decide who strikes and where. Would have been great.

Gotta say seeing the genuine emotion/happiness, especially during the Grombrindal Tyrion scene, really brought back looking through the old school paper catalogues of the pewter models and reading the books as a kid. A great reaction/breakdown to a great video. Man, what a trailer.
