- Here's a rather long clip of some classic BC Rail action.

Ok, here's what the "surprise" is. We were filming this northbound switching at Exeter when this unexpected fast moving southbound comes out of nowhere! Now some of you might be thinking, so what? Well it's a big deal on a regional railway like BC Rail! :D Filmed b/w 2002-04. Double Ditch Light Productions.
Growing up in the '90s and in northern BC, I loved trains and I loved BC Rail. Great video!!

I remember going on a short train ride in the cab of a locomotive when I was a young boy, even got a GE reverser key
their isnt a switcher based at exeter anymore, CN now runs a local from williams lake down to exeter yard and then switches the mills then returns home. It runs from monday- friday and the power is wisconsin central GP38 2002.

bcrailfanatic, I don't mean to make this a discussion about politics, but the one you should put the fire to is the administration of Premier Gordon Campbell, not CN.
Canadian National was just taking advantage of an excellent business opportunity when they bought our beloved railway, which I can't honestly fault them for. It was Campbell who went back on his word and arranged to have BC Rail sold off, when one of his main campaign promises was that he would not do such a thing.
Great vid. Yeah CN got the better of CP on the buy of BCR. I loved that outfit from the time of PG&E. It was inevitable that the gov'r. of British Columbia sell it to the highest bidder. Another great regional gobbled up by the cult that is CN!

@bcrailfanatic blame Gordo, CN was only going after a good business deal.
Being that the shots are THIS close, do you set up the camera and step back, or are you right up close to the action? I only ask because I was standing closer to the tracks (grade crossing) than I should have been watching a CSX high-speed freight near Indianapolis fly by...I could feel the breeze as it passed, and only after did I think about the consequences if something were to have gone wrong....
