when I was little I had this documentary on the squamish line of BC rail used to watch it ALL the time. still pop it in every now and then and go back in time
that's actually not un usual, those diesels are swing helpers placed at a point in the train where they are pulling almost equal to the amount they are pushing as they go upgrade, its usually done, if the helpers are gonna stick with the train for a long time, as they are harder to cut out then rear end or head end helpers/
Outstanding capture! That beautiful K5H sound, and three mid-train helpers! What a shame we'll never get to see this in real life now. Thanks for capturing and posting these shots of BCRail in its prime! Dave
anytime, this practice was also seen alot on the old denver and rio grande western and the southern pacific as well, they'd stack 4 or more units in the middle of a 110 car train, plus another 2 or so on the end. and your right this isn't used that much anymore with the more common use of DPUS and out in my neck of the woods, manned rear end helpers in the mountains.
finally you can now watch never-ending rails on youtube. I mean, well yeah I hate to wait in real but when i can watch in on youtube it's just funny :D Great job, I like it
So strange how they got 2 diesels in the middle of the train! Never ever seen that being done... I did see some trains with deisels in front and back of the carloads though...
Wow an ideler 70 cars back? How many cars was there total in this train? I was disapointed after getting to 72 or so to have you edit the rest out! lol Great video!
That'd be a pain in the ass to wait through...Especially if the train was going uphill. Were people actually getting out of their vehicles? It looked like it - Not that I can blame them. That's one powerful train.
@ATributeToBCRail how do they make sure all locomotives are working the same power? otherwise wouldnt the front ones be pulling the middle ones if they were going a bit slower? or vice versa... is this complicated or fairly easy?
the POINT is...that 0:01 - 4:22 is ALREADY long enough, people can give a fuck about the extra 20 seconds extension, and I dont think its replayed footage, the train is too long so that camaraman paused and resumed to save the film.

you still watching it?

My cousin Mike worked for BC rail.
It's probably just for some fresh air-flow into the cab.

Hope the black car dude is not in a rush...
What are those tall gondola type cars and what are they carrying? They don't seem to have any kind of discharge chutes under them.

ha i dont even like trains i just came across it by looking up BC
I know BC RAIL, and the trains were that long before the U.S economy went to shits.
bc rail is gone... perhaps even most of the line in 09
what about the last 22 seconds????/
@trainboi21 Heh, neither do I. Sure I see some in the front, middle and end, but never that many! Ohh well. That's what I get for living in Manitoba.
why is th door open on the train
How can you tell?
Wood Chips
Where were the helpers cut in and cut out of the train?
Cut in at Darcy and out at Mons( Whistler)
kinda too many diesels. seem's like they're not powerful enough
Do u live at peberton because there is not much action around there the best spot is north Vancouver Station

ive absolutly no idea what logic was used, that comment was from 4 years ago, i dont even know why the fuck i was looking at trains back then,
what kind of horn is that
Very late to this comment so apologies, but that is a Canadian tuned Nathan K5L train horn...
0:01 through 4:22 was 1 clip and that was pretty long
that is long imagin if it was slow it would take like 2 hours
i think its wheat
What do you need all thissand for?? You colud make a 1000 milesbeach withit.
what a sad, sad, sad life you must lead.
69+ cars :D
british columbia

'you and this video are fake' ... Bwahahahaha.
Of course it's not fake. Canadian trains are many times longer than anything you'd see in Ireland.

ugly train hehe
