    Video Information: By Jennifer O'Leary
    BBC NI Spotlight reporter
Freddie Scappaticci, a one-time IRA executioner and top-secret British Army agent, lived for many years under state protection in English suburbia.
The town of Guildford in Surrey is not where one might expect to find an IRA serial killer linked to multiple murders, but it's where Scappaticci settled after fleeing Belfast in 2003 following press reports about his double life.
In England, Scappaticci went under a new identity - his neighbours only knew him as Frank, and he was living under the protection of the state.
He was far from home but not from the IRA's violent legacy: In 1974, two IRA pub bombs in Guildford killed five young people.
Decades later and with Northern Ireland's peace process in place, Scappaticci's neighbours had no cause to fear the person they knew as Frank, who lived alone and was exceptionally private.
However, Scappaticci was a man of many faces.
In 2003, a BBC news crew captured his menacing side outside his home in west Belfast.
"Get yourselves off" he bellowed before explicitly warning that if they didn't leave, he would "do" them.
Scappaticci didn't follow through on that threat but he had form in brutal acts of violence alongside a fearsome IRA reputation.

      @owenbowcott
      Wed 5 Dec 2018 13.30 GMT
Freddie Scappaticci, the man widely identified as the army’s long serving informer inside the IRA, has admitted two counts of possessing extreme pornography.
Scappaticci, 72, who has been widely identified as Agent Stakeknife, appeared briefly at Westminster magistrates court in central London on Wednesday morning to admit the charges.
He spoke only to enter his pleas to the charges. The chief magistrate, Emma Arbuthnot, sentenced him to three months in custody, suspended for 12 months.
The court heard the charges related to at least 329 images, including bestiality.

I read Kevin Fulton’s book about being a British spy in the IRA. He claimed that he was called before Stakeknife, who he later identified as Scappatici, twice along with his wife who knew nothing. Each time he told his handlers that they needed to pull him in and each time the Brits told him he was just fine, and each time his interrogation was worse. He finally ran from Northern Ireland before the last time he was supposed to see Scap and when he contacted his handlers, they were no longer at the phone numbers he had for them. He came to the conclusion that Scap would have had him killed and his handlers would have allowed it to keep Scap clear with the IRA.

''There is also media scrutiny, with a constant flow of mainstream and social media
stories about Troubles related cases that are often inaccurate and take no account of their
impact on the victims and families involved.
I had not anticipated the level of misinformation that I would need to deal with in terms of, first,
inaccurate stories about our strategic commissioning and approach and, second, incredibly
damaging false information passed to victims and their families by people claiming to be well
    informed.''

Fred scapp. Born bread in the market area belfast. Recruited by fru British intelligence agency during early 80s. Codenamed stakeknife to his british handlers. He was an agent of the state so therefore his wages came directly from the British government. He was a paid British state agent. On the British payroll. 80k a year in early 80s is lot of money a year. Now its time for the families to get apology from the top the British government.. they let there agent organise and set up innocent men and women for murder. This might only be the tip the iceberg. How many more paid state agents are on the books of the British.
