I need to thank you for reminding me of the title of the book I read when I was a kid but could never remember. The Thief Lord! I remember the story beats and the venetian setting so vividly but no matter what combination of words I used I could never find the book again by title or description.
Please take time to read the history of Venice, it is something incredible what this City accomplished between 500 to 1797 (year of its death as Repubblica).
If you do your activities alone, I would love to see a video on it. I’m going to be pursuing academia and sometimes it gets rather lonely, I’m not complaining, I just would find it comforting to see more of the crowd I guess haha to know I’m not alone. It’s really inspiring to see you do all of this

Wow I studied in Venice for three years. I'm from Verona (Romeo and juliet 😊) in Venice there's a little store that creates paper. They make paper in different ways and types. They aren't open very often but the store is special.

@@luciabombieri688 I wouldn’t stress it, most people can differentiate between ornate and opulent and ‘tacky’. Only someone quite ignorant would call an over 1000 year old church tacky. Historical understanding means putting things into context and appreciating them in that context.

It's just my personal opinon on the aesthetics of the building and does not mean I do not appreciate it's historical impact. The extreme use of gold made it particulary tacky in my opinion (and I'm strictly talking about the interior).
@@I05-e4s You have no reason to be as arrogant as you are. Everyone is entiltled to an opinion and people are allowed to dislike historical buildings. The overuse of gold in the interior was just ugly for me, I can appreciate the historical impact of a buliding without liking it aesthetically. Many catherdrals in the United Kingdom are far more aesthetically pleasing to me than the extreme use of gold that is common in Italy. Maybe fix your attitude and get off your pedastal before calling someone ignorant.
I'm Italian and I did my Bachelor Degree in Venice studying foreign languages. I lived there for 3 years and I know the city literally by heart, the streets are engraved in my mind... yet, its beauty still leaves me speechless 🌙 it really is a unique city 🤍

Really loved Venice! My favorite place is ponte dell’accademia, it’s less busy than Rialto and San Marco and the shops and people are so nice 😊

I actually quite disliked Venice. It was very expensive there and the basilica was very tacky!
I also found the gondola rides overly touristy and tacky.
How can a thousand years old church be tacky? It's a mix between gothic and Byzantine style
