This is my hometown. Columbia is your basic medium sized capital city, and after staying here for a while it becomes basic. Housing is cheaper than other states if you decide to retire here maybe one place you may consider. As far as entertainment or shopping you are better off going to bigger cities like Charlotte or Atlanta. Columbia literally replants it retail stores and restaurants everytime they build a new development on another side of town and leaves other sides of town vacant so be prepared to drive way on the other side, and it is pretty hot in the summer.
My take is that theres better places than Columbia, but the west coast cities aren't any of them. And now even New England too. so it looks like its going to be a battle between what southern cities are the best. So Columbia won't win there stacked up to all the competition. Augusta might even beat Columbia as its got the Atlanta/GA advantage going for it, even though its practically the same city as Columbia.
@@LongLeggedOne Augusta is nowhere near Columbia. Even Augusta residents whether travel take the trip to Columbia. Columbia is Columbia and by far it’s a nice place to live… the shopping centers are great the malls are great to n the restaurants are great. I’m living in the Augusta area right now and it’s only one mall here…. But it’s nice here to but Columbia is much more prettier than Augusta
Too bad you didn't go out to the lake. Lake Murray is one of the most beautiful lakes I have ever been to. The best thing about Columbia, away from downtown, is that the people here are extraordinarily nice. I am originally from Virginia, but went to USC for grad school, and always wanted to come back. I live out on the lake, and can be in Charlotte, Charleston, Atlanta, Asheville for day trips. It's amazing. Thanks for posting this video, we all love the work you do bringing real places to life.
I like the Irmo side better toward West Columbia than say if I had to live in Lexington. Lexington seems more insane than Irmo/West Columbia to drive in at least. So before the lake vs after it is what I would say the better part of town is. Lexington isn't bad, I'd live there but I prefer it toward Irmo more.

It has some nice areas in Columbia and surrounding suburban areas (Lexington, Irmo, Blythewood) the Public Schools System K-12 isn’t very good..ranks below in the state. Crime is relatively low but has very little cultural and social things to do for those in the 20s-30s. Pretty good place to retire. Like most cities there are inner city neighborhoods surrounding this downtown area that do have gang presence. Most ppl work in Columbia but actually live in the neighboring towns mentioned above. On a scale of 0-10 I’d rank it around 5. Just depends what you desire/expect from a city. I’ve lived in Colorado Springs, Florida, Ohio, Kentucky and New York. I’m actually in the process of moving to Charlotte which is a phenomenal city
Depends on where you go, I was open to living in all or most of it but housing availability is tight. A LOT of people I found want to come to the Carolinas now. More than I even expected.

They're in bed doing the who who
People don't seem to like to come to downtown, yet enough of them do. Its weird. I can tell they don't put a lot into their downtown and the things to do and the places to eat are all on the outskirts. Parking spaces manage to be full, but not a lot of good bars open, its nuts in that regard.
Man I’m not sure what to say about Columbia it use to be a nice upcoming city but not sure what happened this place is basic at its best I’m not sure if I can even give it basic it’s more comparable to Birmingham or Montgomery it had a lot of potential back in the day but I think this city has missed the progress train it has ent had a new sky scrapper in over a decade and most of the business are closing down
Columbia South Carolina seems okay I was just wondering if it's a good place to live
@@tammi_michelle you have to be careful with Charlotte it's got some rough areas too
Depends on where you go, I was open to living in all or most of it but housing availability is tight. A LOT of people I found want to come to the Carolinas now. More than I even expected.
@@tammi_michelle Charlotte is a wonderful city!
@@Americafirst-i8q Yes I’ve heard that also. We’ll definitely be careful while searching for areas within the city. Thanks
tour city for me when i come from New York every few years to visit!
lived there 8 months said this aint me, went back home to New York!
And where are another 'Langley stories'? How to check?
Yay!
Columbia, such an quiet and peaceful city... one of the better cities in the South.
Yes I've been there.. way back years ago, though!
It is my hometown. After being there for a while it is your basic medium size capital city. Maybe if you stay on a certain side of town it is more peaceful than other sides. More people go to Charlotte or Atlanta for entertainment or shopping. Didn't feel it was progressive enough for me so I moved away.
我好喜欢这个频道的节目💖🌷
Was that baccy in the bog?
Looked like it was, but it's best to not dig deeper to find out if it was though.
I giggled when he said deep south lol

Hello.. great subject. What camera do you use?
Was this early Sunday morning or something? It sure wasn’t morning or afternoon on a weekday
1:54 Tallest habitable structure and building in SC folks
beautiful state
Lived in Columbia 7 yrs..did not like it. We moved to Charlotte, NC a year ago. Much, much nicer!!!
Charlotte has some rough areas too it's not perfect in any way
You think Columbia's bad try living in Los Angeles
@@Americafirst-i8q or Portland.
Rather than nicer I would simply say larger and more crowded. I enjoy both cities though.
@@Americafirst-i8q San Francisco too is bad
My old home.
I Hurd my alarm as background music
The title says '4k' but I see 1080p as the highest res :shrug
I could hardly hear the music. You know I need the cruising music
I realize that it was still relatively early, but this city looks like a ghost town.
I live in Columbia it is a nice place to live . Crime is in every city . Yes this is early Sunday morning !
Yes we can tell there's nothing going on
