- I added cruise control to my 1993 k1500 using parts salvage from another vehicle. This process will work for any chevy truck from 1988-1993. If you choose to do more wiring with the steering column than I did follow this great video by suburban ranch: • Turn signal switch, ho...
Nothing like the satisfaction of working on your own vehicle! Thanks for sharing!
Hey would you know since it's not letting me reply directly to the video, if this sort of a job would be possible on a suburban k 2500 with the 454? I'm not sure how similar the systems were between the 350 and the 454. I know they were pretty similar motors though
I think you solved my cruise issue! Previous owner did an engine swap, and best I can tell he didn't hook up the cable to the TBI. Dah!
Thank you I'm using my work truck streeing caulm in my siverodo and had to swich cruse stuff
You did not turn left
Man you did a good video. Can you do a video on the wiring going to the cruise control. My cruise control works then it want work. Trying to figure out what wires are hot(12v) all the time when ignition is turned on and what what wires get hot(12v) when you push button in to set the cruise and what wires are hot(12v) when pressing the brake?
This is a great source for in detail wiring diagrams: www.gmt400.com/threads/88-98-service-manuals.43575/
Looking good!
Could you help me with my 2-door silverado, I want to install the cruise control, it's also tbi and I have the CC module and its multifunction lever but I don't have the wiring
what do you think for a 97 subarban? need a new turn switch, maybe thinking of getting a cruise one? worth it or not?
I am not familiar with the 1996+ cruise control systems. I found cruise control to be a great upgrade for highway driving! I would look up a schematic for the 1997 cruise control system and see if you can source the parts to make it work. Hope this helps!
For the bit that you used to attach the cable to the throttle body, is there a way to get that from a non 88-94 truck/suburban?
Hi, If you are talking about the clip that holds the cable on that is here: www.summitracing.com/parts/rnb-90093?seid=srese1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwgMqSBhDCARIsAIIVN1W_vGLub2j3VXFcjsRS_apdZmQbVUzpFz26o5tAqMnjCbM-len5O-caAoN_EALw_wcB . If you are talking about the cruise control cable stud i did not find a specific part for that in my quick search but there are other throttle cable stud options or you can pick one up at a pick and pull near you. Thanks for the question and I hope my response helps!
At what speed it should engage or start working?
I believe 30mph is the minimum speed that you have to go for the cruise control to be used.
Will this work for a 1995?
The cruise control stock on the column is different so that might be more effort to change out but the box on the fire wall should be the same as it is still a TBI.
