  • SpaceX CEO and CTO Elon Musk takes us on a tour of the SpaceX Headquarters located in Hawthorne, CA , just outside of Los Angeles. Once a manufacturing site for the 747 aircraft, this 500,000 square foot facility is where SpaceX now designs and builds 80% of the Falcon line.

    I don't know what is the coolest part of this video:
    - Elon being literally the owner of this whole thing and can't even speak to sentences (like me in presentations)
    - Elon rocking that gray shirt
    - The video transitions
    - The man really speaking with enthusiasm and we now see his dream accomplished

      I have worked and visited several aerospace companies such as Airbus,RollsRoyce, MTU, UTC Aerospace. I must say the setup and features of the shop are quite similiar with the other companies. It means he somehow able to recruite the right people and/or buy those technologies and knowhow in order to build SpaceX. There is so much depth and width in aeropace engineering and most company wont share their knowhow. To build this company from scratch would take too much time. He had no experience in Aerospace industry but the determination and the money to pull this off. He wasnt even billionare yet back then in 2002. Well done.

    • @Vousie

      What I saw is that he's so *nervous* that he's struggling to even speak full sentences, yet he's just easily speaking all of this rather complex terminology like it's just normal words - it really shows how much of the science he actually knows. He's not just a marketing dude - he really knows all about all of these terms.
      It's so vastly different from the usual CEO's and reporters and actors - their speech is so good until they get to the difficult words & then there's always that slight hesitation like no matter how well they can pretend that these are normal words, they're still struggling with them.

    • @wyswygsommer2769
      @wyswygsommer2769 4 роки тому +8

      He isnt a fluent speaker like politician or salesman, and may be even a little bit stutter. This is good though. In the past only people who can sell, get the recognition from the society. People wont take the nerds seriously who invent all the technology. But it changed since the computer revolution. People can use the technology and know who the inventor behind it via Internet. No more middle man is needed. Elon has proved himsellf as an inventor and business man. Dispite of a little stutter in public interview, people take him seriously. In this case, i think he filtered out the scientific terminology first and converted it to regular expression, otherwise many people couldnt follow his explanation.

      This guy is unbelievably amazing. He goes through the descriptions as if he has handwritten each and every component of the rocket design and have it to the guys for cutting out.
      What a leader to work for. And his COO lady is another one.

      I don't find that shocking at all, frankly, considering what he is, what he does, i'd find it shocking if he didn't, but at the same time normal. In a complete and utterly unconnected parallel, ask EA's top CEO how a game engine works, you'd get a pause. OR ask GoogTube's CEO how the algorithm is created...you'd probably get some bs about how we interrupted her.

      What I am not aware of, is the reason for which you found it necessary to turn this into a personal dispute. All I did was to point out that it seems humorous from our current point of view, to hear Musk state that production should be completed in 3 years, while in reality more than 7 were necessary.

      Yes, it has been delayed but Falcon 9 was upgraded to carry much heavier payloads to orbit so the Heavy wasn't needed that much that early in the company's life.

      Mayur Patil That's false. Lax work environments and more downtime has proven to get more efficient work done. That is an "American hard worker" type of sentiment, it has no basis in reality when speaking of things that aren't physical labor.
