It's a M9 rootstock and it's a Tina knife. I'm not really sure witch type, but it's the middle one. I used to graft with the biggest one but this one fits better in my hands. The grafing wood we order at the propagation nursery in the Netherlands. We can order different sizes. We work 9 hours a day for 5 days and a Saturday morning. With 16 people we manage to graft around 80000 grafts a week.
I've grafted tousands and I've seen a lot in nursing and propagating plants but the guy in green shirt is incredible. The speed is good but much more impressing is perfect one time cuts without recutting to make it better and smoother. This guy can compeet with omega machines I suppose.
Hi Lins, I have just seen your grafting video. It looks as impressive as when I visited you on my European trip earlier this year. If everyone had your skills then my grafting tools would not be needed.Well done, you have certainly earned a reputation as a true professional. Ian Adams - SCIONON
Bruce, I don't know the variety with i'm grafting. Did al lot's of different variety's this year. The rootstock is a M9, the most common rootstock we use
Impressive, I’m starting to graft at my orchard this coming Spring and yours is very inspiring. I want to watch more of your video. Just discovered you today. July 28, 2018
Looks like mm106 and some very impressive grafting. Are you piece work?If that knife is Tina 316/10.5 then sharpen once a day, maybe twice with a fine stone and it will be fine and still last a long time. That is very well organised setup, because the stocks and grafting wood are already matched so the grafter can just graft without having to match up. How many hours do you work for a day?
Looks to me you were grafting apple scion onto root stocks (whip and tongue method), but why people here asked you rose budding question. I'm confused. Do you need to refrigerate the scion for some time?
Hay do you know anything about disease transmission between scion and roots? I have an apple tree that gets scab oft and I have scions for a resistant variety will they be infected if I graft it in.
Marijan Pelajic They are put in cool storage till end of April and the planted. We start grafting around Christmas. Finnish just before planting. Some grafts are in cool storage for 4 months some just a couple of days
This is a very good video, apple tree producers around the world know about this video, Like most things you need to know what you are looking at. A demonstration of skill and talent, and shows how economies of scale allow for a competitive priced product.
I slowed the video down to quarter speed and spent more than three minutes analyzing the precision movements of this expert grafter, which proved very helpful and will help improve my efficiency. It's never a waste to learn from the elite. I suppose those who can outperform him would be wasting their time with this video, but I've never met such a person; if you are one, I commend you. Otherwise--watch and learn!
Greenshirt is cool and collected and a grafting beast. So fast.
ART and BRI Thanks man! Doing this already a long time!

Great guys! Respect from Russia!
Très bon travail j’ai fais ça en Belgique dans les années 65 en binôme aussi
Hay do you know anything about disease transmission between scion and roots? I have an apple tree that gets scab oft and I have scions for a resistant variety will they be infected if I graft it in.
What model of Tina do you have?
Amazing
Are the rootstocks field grown and dug or grown in containers? I can't imagine how much time it would take to bare root all those rootstocks!
from field
what kind of knot do you tie the bundles with. great video.
Don Erickson I wonder that knot as well +Lins Rooijakkers
What's the tree that's being grafted? And do you supply to farmers?

Nice video! How often do you sharpen your knife? These are apples? What temperature do the trees get callused at?
It's just a guess on my part but a damp 12c to 15 c I don't think callus will form if temp is as low as 5c I would like a definitive answer too.
Hi Lins great video. Can you tell what knife you are using?
And when you sharpen your knife what stones do you use?
This is a Tina knife, sharpen each pauze, so every 2 hours
Que variedad de frutal es??
OMG, Lins you are a lean mean green grafting machine!
So, what are you making there? What is the rootstock and what are the scions?
please what model of tina is your knife, and what grit is the sharpening stones you use
What they do after this?
Will it works for Peaches too?
Impressive!
In which month did you graft the trees?
from december till april
What are you doing after the plants go immediately right into the ground or?
Marijan Pelajic They are put in cool storage till end of April and the planted. We start grafting around Christmas. Finnish just before planting. Some grafts are in cool storage for 4 months some just a couple of days
How root stock is graded into different verities as M27,M9,M26,M6 & MM106? If you know please share it will be helpful.
Tikam Sharma the Rootstocks determines the growth of the tree
Where do you get the rootstock from? No one is explaining anything. So what good is the video?
This is a very good video, apple tree producers around the world know about this video,

Quickly grafting root-stock and scion with whip graft.
Looks like whip&tongue with that back cut--a much more stable technique :)
Yes. I'm thinking of trying it this season with grape vines.
Great!👏👏👏
Супер:)
Wbere is it..?
Красиво !
At 4:30 which kind of knot it is used to tied the bundle ???? Thank you 👍👍😊😊
Good job
Do you sell root stork
Ou on acheter le porte greffe et greffon ? Merci!
lucky lucky M9
3:11 To 3:66 is that special water or normal water??
That's wax, not water. It's used for sealing the open ends so the scion doesn't dry up.
jehmed What is it called?
Grafting wax, I suppose. Also cheese wax can be used for this purpose.
The wax is called 'hot grafting wax' and it's mixed with paraffin wax. 50/50
Lins Rooijakkers can you use beeswax ? Going to try my first grafts this year .... can you plant up early
very good
