    In this video i show off my progress on my Dream FPS game in Unity over the past week, a lot has changed, especially about how i plan to move forward with my game, i cant wait to show off my game in the next Devlog.

    I know you said you didn’t want movement to take away from your game, however I feel like an ability to vault over the guard rails isn’t too overpowered. Instead of jumping over them, this quality of life feature could save the player a few seconds, and overall contribute to smoother gameplay.

    Here are some suggestions
    - Add more juice to the movement (when you fall the camera gets a bit down)
    - Add spotting (press f to spot all the enemies in range/in sight)
    - Add sprays (idk why)
    - Make explosive mines
    - Add power spawners (a spawner that spawns a random ability/sumthing like heal / shield / +speed / slowmo ability)
    - Make different sized rooms. As an example: Make tall rooms where there is a lot of aerial action / Make small rooms where the action is based on precision / Make big rooms where the action is based on puzzle or sum stuff ( u got the idea )
    - Make a friend that calls you now and then (maybe for giving you a tip or to help you / annoy you)

      I definitely need to add more juice to everything, just not the priority right now, im trying to work on getting a playable demo ready in the next few weeks for you guys :)
      Ive had someone tell me to add a scan ability which i really like so i already have that planned.
      Sprays... probably not, its not multiplayer and i dont even know why a robot would be carrying around a spare spray can
      Explosive mines sound cool, ill have to think about how i would implement them
      power spawners are a great idea, maybe ill make them more subtle, just some crate or something, im not letting the player heal at all, to encourage omni-switching, maybe that could be a good place to put the scan ability.
      Different sized rooms are something i am definitely doing, ive a few cool puzzles in mind for the omni-switch mechanic
      Im not sure about a friend just because of the story, and the fact that you are just a computer virus.

      @@Wishbone_Games As an alternative to the friend, perhaps an antivirus that often says something to you and puts you under some pressure.
      And for the power ups you could set up terminals on which you somehow download "updates" by which you do more damage or can stay longer in a robot, etc.

    Excited for this! Definitely a bigger project than the spider one! I'm working on my scifi tactical jungle singleplayer shooter which is based on slow movement, but your video is giving me motivation!

      @Wishbone Games I've made some good progress working on my weapons and level design. The actual ai needs work, but the fluidity of the game is going nicely. Getting some of the boring stuff done first like menus and such

    Maybe add a weapon, abilty or something like that, where you can use the omni-switch with a (for example) 5 second delay, to add more strategie. Idk

    Add A Boomerang, That When It Hits The Enemy It Pulls Them Back And Does Damage, So The Further Away You Are, The More Damage The Boomerang Does :D

      On the base level it sounds good but the damage at a higher distance will just make the player want to stand still and pick enemies off without actually fighting.. but i do like the boomerang, i was going to have a boomerang kunai the first time i tried to make this game 3 years ago haha

      @@Wishbone_Games Yay I actually think it’s fits well with the omni-penetration mechanic + fast paced movement, when get internet back at home (a story for another day) i will wishlist it for sure, hopefully it does not become karlson release date wise but for now it looks like you’re very productive (i wish i was like that game developement wise (I can’t even do flappy bird well) but take tour time! Also the game kinda looks playable *wink wink* soooooo... when you hit 1K... u know u could like... release a demo c: pwease, anyways have a nice day!

      Hahaha thank you so much :) I definitely wont become a karlson release date and thats purely because ive got about a dozen other games i really want to make so ill have to finish this before i move on.... i wont reveal too much but ive a super idea for a "second person horror game". Im very productive and motivated partly due to the youtube channel and all you guys showing actual interest... ive never had people show interest for my previous games so its really cool to see. Also, maybe you could practise making some simple game even like pong? just to get the fundamentals, i dont want to show a false view of game dev, ive been doing this pretty much every day for over 3 years, and thats why ive become quite fast at doing things. I definitely want a demo, but i need to make the game look a little better which is one of the things im going to do for next devlog, thank you and you too :)

      I like the enemy idea but we need to keep in mind the play must be able to turn into enemies... this could be a boss instead? Im in dire need of boss fight ideas because i think thatll make the game so much more fun

      So... i actually never use assets.. like i make everything myself, im just not a fan of having my game full of things i dont know how to make, but there are a lot of sites for free 3d models, and loads of tutorials if you want to learn to make your own. Ive never done ragdolls but from my understanding it is applying physicis to each bone in a characters armature that gives it the ragdoll look. Thank you so much! Sorry i couldnt help with the assets...

      So ive thought about this a lot, im thinking my game might be 5hours of maybe story and maybe an hour or two more if you want to do everything. Im going to have to make it paid, but not much, im thinking $15 MAX. Nothing is set in stone yet these are just my thoughts

    I think i'd be cool if you could hack/switch robots and stay hidden, so you can enter a server room and destroy it, then all the robots will attack you until you've finished kill them all in the room, then you can hide again and continue till all the servers have been destroyed or something idk.
    I watched your 2nd week devlog and thought i'd be a cool idea, instead of constantly running around shooting everything to destroy server rooms.
    Btw, have you ever thought of opening a discord server?

      I actually had this idea written down years ago when i first thought of this game, i kinda forgot about it until recently when someone recommended this feature and i do really like it, but in concerned this would slow down the gameplay too much... maybe i could make this mechanic only work in certain rooms or levels? Ill definitely think about this more. As for discord server, i think like 3 others have asked and i want to make one but i dont use discord at all so im scared i wouldnt be very active on there, but i think ill make one soon

    This devlog may have looked like a step backward, but I think otherwise. Realising you shouldn't add too much to your game and have it become movement shooter #4762 is probably one of the best pieces of knowledge you can gain as a game designer. I got scared when you tried to change your game and stray away from your vision, but I’m glad you figured this out now and not late into development. Keep going forward wishbone, you're going to make a great game.

      Another thing, try adding movement tech through omni-switching. Ex: jumping right after switching makes you jump higher, punching while switching adds more power to the punch. Idk something like that. You can also try something experimental like chain-switching where if you hold down the button you can pass through a bunch of enemies. This may be overpowered so maybe add the ability to swap sidegrades for your omniswitch? Like if you want the chain-switch, you need to get rid of that self destruct power. There could also be ghost switching where it slows time for a short period while you switch, where you can move outside the body and pick another body you otherwise couldn't reach (kinda like first person "Driver: San Francisco" switch if you know what that is. Obviously none of these ideas are fully thought out and would need balancing but its worth thinking about.

      Thank you, this is partly why there was no devlog last week, its when it kinda all hit me and so i just sat around with a notepad trying to figure out the best direction to take. Thank you for all your great comments i really appreciate it :)

      I like the idea of chaining, i could put a multiplier in the top right and the more you chain in one go, the better the final movement will be or something. I could definitely lock some of these mechanics and have you unlock them through upgrades later on as to not make it so overwhelming for getting started.- just like the driver san francisco idea might be a bit hard to grasp as a new player at first, i could have it also as an upgrade, but now that i think of it, thats kinda what im going for anyway with the security camera system i showed off at the end of the video. Thank you for the suggestions ill definitely have a think about them

    3:40 Maybe you could add color coded enemies which you could take over. For example yellow would run faster, green could double jump and blue could wallrun etc. Just an idea.

      I was thinking a very similar thing, but you just know what movement they have by the weapon they hold, such as you could assume an enemy holding a shotgun would be fast and has some way of getting close to enemies, or a robot holding a grenade launcher would be slower but could maybe grenade jump. Ill start working on this idea and show off what i have in the next devlog, thank you!

    Ok, Ok... i know that you were not the biggest fan of the omni-penetration name... but like... u know... easter eggs are a thing ;)
    Just make it that if you press 6 then 9 then O then P it switches all references of OS to OP (omni-penetration)

    Heres an idea, when you die intead of respawning somewhere you could put the player in a room where the antivirus tries to delete you from the system (you can represent it by lava or some liquid rising ) to get out you need to find your way to the door before the time end. Also it would be cool that you implemented a speedrun mechanic, im sure we'll see lots of them. If this makes it into the next vid SUBSCRIBE OR ELSE...

      Hmmm thats really interesting but im just trying to think that would be really difficult to convey what is actually happening to the player. I was thinking you would always start a level in this massive room where they store deactivated robots, so whenever you die, youll just activate a new one for yourself to use. I like the idea of speedruns, maybe ill make a speedrun mode that tracks their time for them or something.

    What if different robots have different types of movement? And maybe different time periods before you have to switch. So you could have like a robot with all the amazing movement settings but you can only use it for a few seconds

      Hahaha you are spot on with what i was planning!! I was thinking that along with special movement for each robot, the weapon would also play a factor in how long you can stay as them, right now i have the smg robot take less time to kill you with its antivirus so you cant use the strongest weapon for very long.     You could have it so there are multiple enemy variants/classes that have different combat and movement capabilities, both for when they're fighting you and when you omni-switch to them, like some could have a melee weapon and can wall run, double jump, slide, mantle/vault, etc... Shotguns could have more movement capabilities than the typical enemy too to get up close, and some heavy enemies can have bigger weapons (LMGs and/or minigun? Flamethrower?) but can't run very fast or double jump or anything like that, It would add more weight to the decision of who to switch to! Could add a spawn chance variable too in case some end up being overpowered, or even so you can have a standard enemy/enemies then sprinkle special enemies in
    Also you could add ultimate abilities that you can unlock and equip one of at a time, maybe charged by switching or getting kills - I think an ability to freeze/slow time for a few seconds would be cool (maybe charged by switching or getting kills, could even be swapped out for different unlockable ultimate abilities), being able to chain switch between multiple people leaving them standing in front of bullets frozen in the air (including any you shoot while the ability is active) ready for time to resume taking out a bunch of enemies at once, it would only work with projectile bullets though so Idk if you're using projectiles or ray casts, it could also easily end up being OP so it would need a lot of balancing.
    Another potential ability could be a pulse scan that highlights enemies through walls for a few seconds, which while they're visible you can also switch to them, or an ability to become disembodied, kinda like in Driver San Francisco when you were selecting a car/driver to possess, allowing you to float around and select anyone to switch to, giving you a few seconds to think strategically

      WOW! Lots of ideas. So i have a plan for enemy varients already with their own abilities depending on what weapon they have. Iike the idea of maybe a minigun and i had planned a turret(that cant move) that you could take control of. I think the idea for time to pause would be too close to how superhot plays and i use ragcasts for shooting. For the disembodied thing i have cameras, which you can switch to during a fight to just strategise and be able to select a new body. Thank you for all the amazing suggestions!!!

    Can u clue me in on the selling point of the game and how its different from games like ultrakill and Titanfall?
    How about a mix of "unrecord"(interesting gunplay movements) and "out of action"(already amazing movement).
    What r ur thoughts?

      The game is about the omni-switch mechanic, everything will revolve around that(combat, puzzles, movement). The mechanic is basically that you are a computer virus, who can take control of any computer, which means you can turn into any enemies while fighting, or security cameras and some other stuff. I already have a very clear vision of what my game is supposed to be like and im not going to have just absolute mayhem that you see in ultrakill, and the movement isnt gonna be as prevelent as titanfall, and also my game is singleplayer. My goal is that i dont want to "copy" parts of preexisting games, i really want to go a unique direction with this game which will help the game hopefully stand out from millions of fps games.

      Will there be synergy of different weapons like in ultrakill with unique weapons of ur own game of course.
      Turbo overkill has an interesting artstyle so I wonder what direction ubr headed.

      @@momiko934 Hahahaha, i recommend going into blender first and playing around with inverse kinematics just to understand what it does. And then its literally the same in unity, and you can tell the Ik bone to go wherever through code

    Honestly the execution of the image was very creative! Nice way to make it less generic. But I've realized that the ammo reminder in the bottom right looks out of place with the rest of the UI's font. It's also hard to see with all the white. I'd recommend making it stick out more and make it look like the rest of the UI. But this video also gave me a few other ideas:
    1: make the security cameras look more modern for the timeline. I love how it looks but for 2123 I would expect more modernized camera looks.
    2: make the laser in the weapon show the health you have.
    3: make bones somewhere spelling out "Wishbone Games".

      Thank you! I did have to change it unfortunately because on my phone its literally just a white square so i had to make it a little more generic, still kept the "dont" though. Not sure if youve seen my video where i explain the idea behind my UI, but i want the left side of the UI all to be what the Virus adds to the hud of the robot, and the left side is what robots usually see when they are not hacked. I definitely will play around with the colors of the ui more. Yea.. i was thinking that aswell for the cameras which kinda sucks because i really like the steriotypical "security camera" look. Ill have a think about the laser health thing and i might sneak some wishbone games logos into the game somewhere :)

      @@Wishbone_Games Thank you! Though for the image I think you maybe could rescale it so it's more visible or change the colors so it's easier to read. For the UI, I know the reason behind it but if the UI font for the robots vision is the same for the robots, then why is the font for the ammo different then for the rest of the UI, which is all the same font? Maybe try to distinguish it by different fonts or colors like you said you would mess around with.

    I would make it so that the Barret, the sniper that you chose launches you backwards. This adds more movement options when you have it equipped.
