    I love that you always go one step further... So many tutorials are "here's the answer to the first question" and see you next time. You're always thoughtful about 'if you do this, you might end up saying well what about this', and you take us through those extra steps and the why behind them. So valuable. Thank you

    I got ScreenFlow both privately and for business but I’ll most likely get Final Cut Pro for business work. Tweaks like this is essential to my learning and using FCP. Really appreciate it. Thanks 🙏🏻

    This is an amazing tutorial!! Sure I can notice differences, especially on sennheiser headphones, but oh man do they sound absolutely similar! Also, that Yeti microphone sounds awesome! I'd love to see your gear linked to Amazon in your video descriptions.

    How did I not know this?! Thank you for sharing this. The Blue sounds nice and robust, but let's in a little more room echo

    Low end boosts like that, Are going to give you more issues than fixes. At the very least use the fade extreme filer in match. ideally roll off the sub to low end in the vocal. All you are doing down there is boosting non perceptive sound in a vocal.

    Wow! BTW, the sound from the Logitech has too much coloration for my taste. However, the final result is perfect, adding a little boominess to the accurate sound from the Sennheiser to give it a little body.

    You guys do the best tutorials. Quick question: At the end, there was a little bit of reverb on the clip. Was that intentional?

    • @markspencer3104
      @markspencer3104 3 роки тому

      No, I didn't add any reverb. May just been the room characteristics, I really should add a few foam panels.

    Very interesting. I would use an alternative approach, however. A single XLR connected mic of choice, such as your shotgun, feeding into an audio recorder that provides USB interface, as well as a 3.5mm stereo mix, such as a Zoom F6 or a Sound Devices MixPre, but there are a ton of alternatives. You can then take either the 3.5mm or the USB interface to connect to the desired device, i.e. camera or computer. Using the same mic means you will get the same sound quality

    Wow! But won’t matching the audio from the source clip back to the target clip and then back again cause a ripple in space time? Feels kinda like an experiment from CERN. All jokes aside, this video is gold. Thanks,

    I can still hear quite a bit of difference between the two in the lower midrange. I could also hear you ducking all of your uhs and ums (not really necessary IMO, no shame in um and uh). This might be fine if people are using li'l speakers, but headphones reveal everything.

    • @markspencer3104
      @markspencer3104 3 роки тому

      They will never match perfectly of course, they are completely different microphones. I ducked I think 3 or 4 lip smacks.

    • @rippleguys
      @rippleguys  3 роки тому +1

      Sound mixers do not mix to headphones, but speakers since this the way most people will be listening to the mix. Mic matching will never be perfect - but will it be close enough that folks won't be able to discern the differences.

    After I selected my clip to match, I did not get that "apply match" button to show up. Any ideas as to why?

    • @markspencer4557
      @markspencer4557 Рік тому

      Likely you need to select the specific component to match to

    If it's the Sennheiser type I think it is, it sounds like there's a big low cut off. Mine do nowhere close sound ever so thin. Whether used at a long distance (theatre recording) or close by (voice over use) they have a very nice full sound. The other one has obviously way too much low frequencies. Strange choice of mics.

    Any chance you can include a link to the Logitech mic you are using? I’ve been looking for a reasonable USB mic for a while and I really like the quality of the audio you get out of that one.
