    One of the best videos I've seen on this subject. This is not, directly, my expertise as I'm a natural and/or traditional architecture design builder, yet I have consulted on, restored, and or done a number of aquatic-style forms of architecture. The only added info I would offer to those who may read this is that "wood" or timber under water DOES NOT decay at all. If you have a properly designed foundation for a floating home is done...your "shim" beams" or "shims" are the only thing that will decay if made of wood. If they are made of some other decay-proof material these "wood beams" will virtually last forever if in fresh water. Saltwater and brackish estuary water can have marine annelids that will attack wood unless other mitigating conditions are created. As the easiest validation for understanding all this is to think of Venice, Italy, and how old it is. That city is set on stone under the water...but...those stones reason on wood pilings...
