Greatest midifielder ever by far for me. Between 1976 and 1984 dude was basically Messi in the midfield and scoring over 40 goals per season. One of the greatest primes ever, shame he only had one healthy world cup... 600 plus goals and over 200 assists in his career, no midfielder individually comes close to his level of talent. Ah the good old days when the greatest players in the world mostly played in their country's league and at most there were 1 or 2 foreigners per team, the brazilian and argentine leagies being better than the english and spanish leagues wasn't a bad thing at all, football was fun as fuck

@@paulfolan69 yes, but in my opinion it is absurd to disregard over 450 Pelé's goals coz in retrospect they don't fit today's criteria, it really wasn't his fault at his time football was different and teams had a lot of ''non official'' matches during the seasons between then and excursions to other continents, those were serious matches that simply were not a part of any competition but the time's calendar allowed for then to happen. So while a guy like Zico or Messi and Crisitiano have more ''official'' goals that is just stupid, literally for 40 years no one even questioned that shit really don't know why people started saying that about Pelé

But, what people fail to realize is, so many of these goals were in horrible (fine, say unprofessional conditions). But, so many of these goals were scored playing 5 games per week, you’re no Europe and Africa. Modern players -you pick to big names, would never be playing 5 games a week, while touring, or while touring in Africa. Yes, some/many of the teams were not professional, but the best players/teams of the area (agreed). But, the difficulty of 5 games per week, on a mud field everywhere and anywhere -Pelé was utterly overused (along with his Dantos teammates) to take the game to all places. And, a side point being, Pelé quit his World Cup career, at 29 years-old, having played games/scored goals in difficult, odd, horrible situations all over the world. How much mileage was put on Pelé, that took his passion and ability from playing another World Cup, at 33 years-old. “the Absolute King”. Love Him beyond words!

Mas jogou na Udinese da Itália em um período que o futebol italiano era um dos mais difíceis do mundo. Veja, o Flamengo ganhou de 3x0 do Liverpool quando o time inglês era campeão da Champions League. Além de campeão da libertadores, campeão do mundo com o Flamengo, Zico fez uma excelente copa do mundo em 1982 com a seleção brasileira, se não fosse a lesão no joelho teria jogado melhor em 1986 no México, além de ser muito querido no Japão. Messi é um excelente jogador, mas sem as grandes estrelas da época de ouro do Barcelona ele não consegue brilhar tanto. Para mim o Zico está na galeria dos melhores de todos os tempos.
Não diga uma coisa dessas nem brincando. Pelé, Maradona e Messi estão em patamar muito superior aos demais jogadores. Nem o próprio Zico se atreve a afirmar uma coisa dessas. Zico foi um grande jogador e merece ser considerado um dos 15 ou 20 melhores jogadores da história do futebol. Mas compará-lo a Messi é desconectar-se da realidade.

Late 70's and in the beginning of the 80's there was a rivalry who's the best, Zico or Maradona in South America and in Europe along with Platini. The difference is that Platini won the European Cup with France in 84, Maradona World cup in 86 but.unfortunately Zico lost with Brazil the 82 World cup in Spain.

É que ninguém sabe da história em 85 ele quase teve a carreira abreviada um covarde chamado Márcio do Bangu voou nas pernas do Zico no intuito de quebrar mesmo !! dali em diante ele não conseguiu se recuperar a tempo para 86 ele queria se operar não queria ir a copa de jeito nenhum só conseguiu jogar um pouquinho com infiltrações no joelho e muita dor não conseguia jogar 45 minutos completos entrou em alguns jogos já no finalzinho..aí você pergunta por que não levaram outro em melhores condições porque não tinha ninguém com a capacidade do Zico os médicos da seleção acharam que ele conseguiria se recuperar ele foi de coração aberto !! mesmo contra a vontade eu tinha 11 anos sei de todo o sofrimento dele pra poder estar lá..muitos comentários infelizes sem saber o que realmente aconteceu são por puro clubismo vejam o que aconteceu depois que ele entrou até as cobranças finais de pênaltis em 78 o árbitro terminou o jogo na cobrança de um escanteio com a bola no ar e o Zico fez o gol essa copa foi armada para os hermanos em 82 erros individuais e lá no fundo um certo menosprezo do técnico dos jogadores talvez !! e a Itália jogou como nunca..ah ele se operou depois da copa de 86 nunca mais foi o mesmo mas mesmo assim foi decisivo em vários jogos tamanha era sua genialidade

Quando se diz que alguém está na lista de maiores jogadores brasileiros de todos os tempos isso significa necessariamente que está numa lista mundial. Não há país no mundo mais importante para a história do futebol mundial que o Brasil. Nenhum país chegou perto de produzir tantos gênios como este. Essa é a verdade. Se o Brasil tivesse uma organização administrativa de elite o nosso futebol viraria uma espécie de NBA. Nossas seleções ao longo dos tempos sempre foram mal convocadas. Não convocamos nossos melhores jogadores para as Copas de 1930 e 1934. Poderíamos ter sido campeões mundiais ainda em 1938 se não tivessem retirado Leônidas das semifinais, então o melhor jogador da Copa, para um absurdo "descanso para a esperada final". Em 1950 desperdiçamos o título quando tínhamos claramente um time muito superior ao Uruguai. Em 1954 deixamos de fora o monstro sagrado Zizinho e ignoramos jogadores excepcionais como Luizinho, Evaristo de Macedo e o próprio mito Garrincha. Em 1966 a desorganização deu seu maior grito de inglória e uma mágica geração de jogadores fabulosos, que poderia ter ganho facilmente aquele mundial, desperdiçou outra oportunidade. Em 1974 o inigualável Pelé rejeitou ir para a Copa, o mito Gérson e o gênio Tostão se aposentaram (este um ano antes, aos míseros 26 anos, por conta de problemas na visão. Uma lástima!). O extraordinário Dirceu Lopes no auge também não foi convocado, bem como a lenda Carlos Alberto Torres, outro absurdo. Em 1978, mais equívocos hediondos de escalação: Falcão, Paulo Cézar Caju, Luís Pereira e Dicá estavam no auge e foram absurdamente renegados. Sócrates, Júnior, Joãozinho, Mário Sérgio, Júlio César Uri Geller, Pita, Zenon e Zé Sérgio faziam misérias em seus clubes e sequer foram lembrados. O gênio Rivellino se machucou às vésperas do mundial e Reinaldo, um dos centroavantes mais talentosos de todos os tempos, lutou em vão para minimizar as dores de seus dois joelhos, um tormento que o acompanhou por toda a carreira. Com um time melhor convocado teríamos surrado a Argentina em casa e a Holanda não nos faria cócegas, mesmo se o velho genial Crüyff estivesse nela. Em 1982 deixamos de fora Leão e Raúl, nossos melhores goleiros. Careca machuca antes do mundial e Roberto Dinamite, apesar de convocado, é ignorado no banco. Com esses jogadores no time o azar não teria entrado em jogo, pois não havia seleção que nos parasse com esses jogadores no time. Em 1986 o genial Zico se machuca, o excepcional Pita não é convocado, Leandro e Renato Gaúcho se desentendem com o técnico e ficam de fora enfraquecendo demais o elenco em setores fundamentais. Ainda assim saímos do mundial sem qualquer derrota e sofrendo um mísero gol. Em 1990 Neto, Geovani e João Paulo ficam de fora por opção e Júnior é ignorado por conta da idade (um grande erro). Poderíamos ter tido melhor sorte no jogo contra a Argentina e desperdiçamos mais um mundial. Em 1998 Mauro Galvão, o nosso melhor zagueiro junto a Aldair, é relevado em razão da sua idade (levamos o irritadiço Júnior Baiano e o limitado Odvan no lugar). Djalminha é ignorado e Romário é cortado por motivos que poderiam ser contornados. Com eles em campo, o problema de Ronaldo na final contra a França teria muito menor impacto no time, inclusive psicológico. Em 2006, talvez pela primeira vez a seleção brasileira deixou de ter problemas com escalação e passou a ter problemas de puro desleixo com o desempenho. Quem tinha de estar lá, estava. O rendimento dos jogadores do time foi um horror, sobretudo o da estrela da vez: Ronaldinho Gaúcho. De 2010 para cá a nossa produção de talento baixou vertiginosamente e tivemos apenas em Neymar o único resquício de nossa grandeza de outrora. O talento extraordinário que sobrava em outros tempos agora míngua em uma ou outra posição e em doses bem mais modestas. Mas isso não se deu só no Brasil. De lá para cá qualquer seleção que tenha tido dois ou três jogadores razoavelmente diferenciados em seus elencos ganharam os mundiais. Foi assim com Xavi e Iniesta pela Espanha em 2010. A Alemanha venceu com uma equipe de coletivo muito forte em 2014, mas sem qualquer jogador genial. Mbappé foi a jóia da vez em 2018 acompanhado de jogadores comuns. E, por fim, os veteraníssimos Messi e Di María se destacaram em 2022 nos mesmíssimos termos. Oxalá tenhamos uma maior produção de talentos numa geração próxima. Tendo alguns poucos, não será nada difícil vencer um mundial. A verdade é que nunca foi tão fácil.

I'd rank him sixth...

Messi has played in a weak era with weak defenses for most of his career on great pitches with an easy ball and plenty of referee protection. Has he ever been close to his level at Barcelona when playing for Argentina? Yes he is a top 5 player of all time as he has been incredibly consistent with Barca, but I do feel he is slightly overrated.

A team needs at least one sharp striker and one fine winger, one/two creative & two/one defensive medio par excellence, four tough & skilful backs and one very reliable goalkeeper for that kind of success. Even Maradona, the most decorated player over this period, succeeded because of not only his own divine talents but also an arrow of a striker, two excellent defensive medios and four dogged defenders, one or two of them world-class and one brilliant goalie. During the same period, Brazil did neither have excellent goalkeepers, nor excellent strikers or central defenders.
At the end, one request, at the cost of repitition : learn to watch and understand the beautiful game, be a discerning spectator and don't hastily evaluate a player by his team's success.
@@lexkanyima2195 the generation of Zico played almost the entire career in Brazil. He just played for Udinese for money. The players did not have the interest to live or play in Europe. Afterwards, the things change.
