I still have my 1210s too. These are ugly and cheaply made.
I love my 1200 MK2 still the best turntable.

I still love my M3Ds- recessed power, no pitch click. Solid as the day I bought them in 05. I would appreciate the detachable cords tho
Looks amazing! I'm a jazz & rock listener but did buy a SL-1210GR and it's awesome. It's my second SL (my first was a MK5). No matter what the music - the SL1200 is amazing turntable imo.

They're not as good as the old classic MK2's, they're *A LOT* lighter. Look how easy it was to pick up and move these ones around. They don't make 'em like they used to.

True Boy my mk2 has just been refurbished and I would always prefer the mk2. Rock solid, relieable, oldschool.

The bottom part is made from a glassfiber-ABS mix now. It is lighter, but also very durable. At least I own a 10 year old Thinkpad made from the same material and it took a lot of beating and didn't break.
Also power supplies are probably much lighter nowadays.
A bit more insulation rubber would have been good though, apparently the MK7 is not as feedback resistant as the heavier models. But then again you would probably want extra insulation in very loud environments also for MK2s...

I’ve had every techniques turntable model from MK2s to M5g grandmasters. Now I own a pair of MK7s I’ve had them for about a year now and not one single problem. The scratch and juggle properly and mix even better. Maybe they are too expensive for some peeps that’s why they don’t like them. But seriously these are great turntables and remember scratch bastid has been using them for about a year too Don’t see him complaining
Why are they so expensive compared to the original MK2s? And why are some people saying they’re not even as good as the old MK2s?
Neural Tech they complain because they can’t afford them . They are just as good as the first generations. They are lighter but that doesn’t mean they suck. The pop up light is plastic instead of steel . They use a digital pitch fader instead of analog like the old tables . What that means is that you can hold together 2 records at the same speed for much longer than the old analog technics which is a plus. If you’re looking to buy one do it . It’s worth it . You will never go wrong with technics even the new mk7 . I love mine and to be honest I like them better than the old generations . I thought I would never love another turntable that wasn’t the old technics but this new one is even better except for the plastic pop up light . But to be honest I never really use it

I own a MK7 and the pop-up light feels metallic to me... not as tank-like as on a MK2 though for sure. This and the start button are the only things I really prefer on the MK2

Me too sort of, Sadly one died last year! Was more to fix than it was to down grade slightly and buy two new reloop 7000 for the price of fix one technics. But really pleased with 7000s and still got one classic technics just for listening to albums.

I was really looking forward to getting the MK7, but from my research I need to stick with my MK2s. The MK7 pitch control is messed up, and it appears they haven't resolved the issue yet. The pitch doesn't change from 7/8, so this can only go from 0 to 7. Also since this is lightweight and the bottom is not made of rubber, sound can travels into the unit creating feedback if you're by a large sound system. Also this is just cosmetic, but the dots on the plater are not machined even. I really hope these fix these issues, and I think it would be the best TT ever.
It goes to 8. It just doesn't line up with the printed scale next to it. By the way, it's the same on the M5G and nobody seems to care.

Hey, all SL 1210 MK 7's have this deadspot where it looks like the new MK7R no longer has this deadspot? The M5g has also had this dead spot in the past. Nevertheless, the turntable uses the full 8% & 16% as you can see on with DVS. The 8% are already reached with the number 7. I've had the new Mk7s since their release in 2019, and they are wonderful turntables. Don't concentrate on the numbers, just mix them, especially with vinyl you can tell how clean the pitch and the new motor work. I am very satisfied with the purchase to this day. @@laekro the recently manufactured models (including MK7R) don't have the deadspot anymore. But as you said, it was just a minor thing and not a real problem for me, too.

Is there a sticker attached to the turntable serial number in the box?
or you can know the serial number after opening it and you can't know it first because it is only found on the turntable on the back... in correspondence where there is the reducer for 45 rpm records

I usually like Technics but they always been too expensive for my taste, I usually like the cdjs they always come in handy yes I already has two Gemini CDJ 700s and a Reloop RMX mixer, plus I has a Rane SL2 interface to plug in Serato to my equipment.

Yo scratch I just purchased the same turntables I'm having a problem power on it seemed like the cord don't work and I see the other one works with the red light but I don't know how to turn the other one on I'm thinking it's the cord but I don't know what did I hit a button to turn it on or what all I know is the other one is red and is turning the spinning can you help
hey there - try turning the top panel of the strobe light left & right to turn it off and on. If that doesn't work, try checking to make sure your power cord is securely connected underneath. Could be that it's not plugged all the way in.
I thought they stopped making 1200s. These are obviously different but I was still surprised.

Man I opened my first technics sl-1200mk2 in 1997 I picked two at sam ash music and a vestax pmc-05 pro but been dj since 1990 my first decks were Gemini dj-q1200 and a mx-2200 mixer wood grain side twin vu meters same mixer DJ jazzy Jeff use back in the day DJ scratch use them I wish I had mine still worth the fortune now my first DJ cartridges were pickering and I use straight vinyl no MP3s back then they didn't exist

have they fixed the feedback issues? The mk7s were light with very bad feedback issues also they had a cheap plastic feel.On top of all that the price was fucking mad especially as older models were better built and without said issues.

Do you have real vinyl? Or do you want to play with real vinyl? Cos you won't be able to play with real vinyl with the Twelves.
Bruh...super oem model like NTX1000 that has ultra pitch are way way more powerful than technics...why would you call it a “beginner” equipment.
I've seen dozens and dozens of decks but never 1200mkVII new, out of the box.
I have the mk7s...I wish now that I would have bought something else. For $2000 a pair...not a good club table. Too light. Horrible grounding. Major feedback. Awesome tables for the dining room.
