Awesome !! Im really glad the channel is helping. Heaps of vids on the channel of kayak fishing locally to get stuck into We also have a members area which may be beneficial aswell.
It looks delicious! looking forward for next time!
Thank you 😋
Fantastic squid fishing live it Allan hope to be going out this Saturday morning bay side east target red snapper and squid cheers
Thanks Philip. Greatly appreciated !! Good luck on Saturday morning. That side has been fishing so well this past few weeks so hopefully you get an early season red. !!! Good luck
Good work! Those Inku Jigs work a treat! Can't beat some fresh squid for bait or the table! 😜
Yeah they performed very well, Always amazing how a colour change can change your luck sometimes. Ive eaten well this week, cant wait to start travelling now and really getting stuck into it.
Great to see you back out on the water Alan. I hope you are planning another Gippsland adventure, I know we are. I had to laugh when you chucked in the bait fishing and went back to lures, that is so Me. Tight lines 💜🎣
Thanks heaps !!! Yeah now that we can travel I'm so looking forward to heading back to Gippsland soon. Such a beautiful part of the world and the fishing is so nice. My last trip was way to short, so need to book an extended visit next times. Yeah my patience for bait fishing is growing smaller at times. I just love being on the move and active, always casting and following my sounder. Its just such a fun way of fishing. I hope all is going well for you, and hope to see you on the water at some stage.
Great Vid, well done and im excited that you can now travel again.
Good stuff Alan. Top tip for small/med size squid. To turn them inside out, use a potato masher. Just stand it up, push the end of the tube inside itself and then just run it down the handle of the masher. cheers.
Thanks !!! Excellent tip, ill give that a go next time for sure
That's not a kayak, that's an ocean liner ;-) Well, not quite, but it sure is a decent size. Great video as always Alan.
LOL 100%, yeah those Hobie pro Anglers are super impressive. Just as big as most small boats on the water just more fun.
awesome work Alan. those squid were crackin! great fun 👍
Thanks 👍Isaac, they sure were. Hopefully we can catch up for that overdue fishing session soon
Another great Vid, im so excited that we can finally travel to fish again !!
Me too buddy !!100% cant wait, infact ill be traveling tomorrow LOL. Good luck out there hope ya catch a few good ones
Your videos make me want to go out there and fish/squid! Will be keen to see you do a squidding collab with Nev's fishing on the kayak.
Thanks !! Glad your enjoying the content. Yeah Nev is a ripper. He lives near areas with amazing squid and snapper fishing.
Your vids are really inspirational Alan. I’ve only been fishing for 18 months or so with my 13yo son and we’ve just purchased a jetski so we can fish beyond our many wonderful piers, jetties, and shoreline.
Appreciate you may not want to disclose your exact secret fishing spots in the bay, but any chance of a rough location whenever you post a new vid? Closest land based suburb perhaps? It would be helpful for us newbies…. 👍🏼 Roy
Hi Roy, I hope are very well. Thanks for the positive comments its greatly appreciated. I've started sharing all those details in our FishingMad members area which can be found here fishingmad.com.au/member cheers
Awesome squid mate! Never tried squiding myself, but seems like fun!
Thanks !! Yeah its heaps of fun. Years ago I wasn't convinced now I absolutely love squid fishing.
Awesome papa
Thank you
Public enemy number 1 for me lately - bloody long necked turtles!!!
Really, do they take your baits or lures ? I wonder what area
@@fishingmad They like chicken hearts, never caught one on a lure, I think they grub around on the bottom and sniff out the baits. I'm in an area called Bassendean just out of Perth, fishing in the Swan River.
Awesome Alan 👌🏼 That was a really good session out there. Can’t wait to finally go fishing past the 10km limit.
Thanks Jared, Yeah 100% cant wait to finally go beyond the 10 or 15 ks, ill be travelling very soon thats for sure.
Great video. Love the sleeper rod 👌🏽
Thanks !! Yep it always works a treat
Great video Allan! So excited for lockdown to end! Hitting up the Sandringham Breakwall on Sunday, hopefully I can christen the new rod!
Sandringhma breakwall has been going off, many good snapper land based and in the shallows. I bet it will be busy down there. Good luck, i hope you catch a few good ones !!!100% break in that new rod, ive got some new toys to break in tomorrow.
@@fishingmad That is awesome to hear!
Yeah its been very productive all around that area has been fishing very well. Ill be heading that way in a few days time
great
Thank you !!
where do you gob fishing?
Nothing better than a squid that pulls drag! Curious - why the comment about not rinsing the squid in fresh (tap) water ? As in rinsing it down just before putting it straight into the pan ?
I know a few chefs who are adamant that you should clean salt water fish in salt water. Apparently it makes the texture and taste of the fish significantly better. Washing in fresh water changes the properties of the fish somewhat before cooking.
@@fishingmad That makes a bit of sense. I did remember cleaning a fillet of Gummy then as soon as I washed it down under a tap, the texture of the meat did visually change! Thanks Alan.
had a good session on squid at Altona, on the first stick from the boat ramp prior to the rain and water colour change atm
Nice Vid Alan, loving your local content keep that going as lockdown disappears
Thats awesome to hear, im glad your enjoying the content and catching a few good ones. Happy days soon as we will all be back out and about fishing.
Great session mate 👍👊
Nice session there Alan. Can't wait for my turn on Saturday morning. Finger Cross. :)
Thanks, thats awesome good luck Saturday morning, I hope you catch a few good ones
I can't wait for tomorrow and lockdown to end. brought gear a little but ago to start fishing for the first time since i was a kid. Your videos have really helped with relearning all I needed.
Thanks Ben, yeah 100% so excited that we can finally get back out and fishing again. Many have been to far away from the lakes or ocean so im so exicted for those guys. Its gonna be great to get out there and break in some new gear. Good luck and have fun out there
7:45 good squid
Thank you !! Yeah it sure was a good one
Hi Alan great show yet again ill be looking forward too fishing with you next year when the best time for snapper your way also when putting my marage drive in is there s front and back
Thanks Les, peak snapper time locally is from October through to March. With Nov and Dec arguably the most productive months. Optimal water temperature.
Nice
Thanks
Nice 👍
Thanks David
💪
Thanks Lee
Great video Alan. Just wondering if it would be worth casting a line off the beach there for the chance of a flatty, or if it is simply too shallow even with a good cast?
You certainly can catch fish of the beach but it can be challenging as the depth you will reach land base will only be a meter or two depending on the tide. I sometimes will use waders waste deep and catch a few that way, but must watch out for stingrays i stood on one some time back and was very lucky not to be stung.
@@fishingmad Thanks Alan, I might give the 12ft surf rods a shot some time. Lucky with the sting ray, that wouldn't of been a good day!
Yeah thats 100% worth a shot. Your right about the stingray I stood on it and thankfully it just swam away. Scared the hell out of me, was a very close call.
Hey mate can I ask where you launch from ?
Campbells Cove just from the main area. Cheers
@@fishingmad thanks mate just found out looking at your website. I just moved in to the area so keen to find some fishing spots is the pier close by as well ?
Nice one Alan ;) I'm gonna head out on the weekend and see if I can get some squid and a few flatdongs. Is wedge spit still dead do you know? Or maybe worth a look? It's been so long since I've been able to get out and last time I went down to WS it was weirdly dead with very little weed beds around etc...
Hi Sam, Thanks !! Wedge spit is still very hit and miss at the moment, i suspect in about a month it will fish very well once that water temp gets a tad higher. I generally go there and if its quiet quickly change to a plan B and chase some pinkies and flatties in close or near the reefs.
@@fishingmad cheers Alan, might save the time and give it a miss! Any tips on a good bet for some squid launching out of Werribee Sth? Was thinking maybe Campbell's Cove might be the best bet close by there? Don't want to go too far in case the southerly blows up worse than predicted etc
Campbells cook and opposite point cook marine sanctuary are 100% your best options close to werribee.
@@fishingmad legend thanks mate! 🤞🤞
Hey mate nice video can you recommend any budget kayaks around $200 to $500 cheers mate keep it up
Have a look at this detailed web article which i wrote it should help greatly fishingmad.com.au/article/fishing-kayak-buyers-guide-2021 being 100% honest the kayaks at that price range are not very stable, so id really encourage you to read the article, and if possible save for a little longer and buy something that will last you and keep you safe on the water. I hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions
@@fishingmad Ok thanks mate that's the way ill give it a read keep up the work mate
Are there reasons people tend to not eat the wings ?
Its a great questions, personally I've never eaten them, I've always given the wings and the tentacles to a mate and i eat the hood. I should try it. The wings also make great bait
@@fishingmad Next time you catch some Squid, maybe at end of the video could be cooking and eating the wings and tentacles.
Yes, Maybe
Witch area please
Alan, what size is the Twinpower?
2500 size. Its really nice. Wish I also had one slightly bigger size for targeting snapper
@@fishingmad Thanks Alan. I'm looking at the twinpower 3000xg, now just trying to muster up the courage to buy it. I've gotta sell off a bunch of Stellas that I bought but have never used, except for my 4000 and 5000 models which I'll keep.
