The Virgin Islands vs. The Chad Republic.

Chad would still find a way to lose
The dream: "We are many tribes... but we are all African."
Sad reality: "My tribe over yours."
This assumes the dream is not a nightmare.
It is often more a faction lead my man of tribe X takes over. Cuz most people of tribe X are still gonna suffer and alot of elites from tribe A, K,J and I also enjoy.
Europeans created this clusterfuck formula especially in their transfer of colonial power to natives. Basically by giving one single tribe of their choosing all the governing power and completely ignoring the rest living in their territory. Of course in due time that single tribe began to look down on the other tribes seeing them as second class citizens and once the communist got involved and started arming those people from the ignored tribes. Europeans kicked rocks, shit got ugly. This literally happened to just about every African nation.
Like anywhere in the world
Lol if you’re white delete this comment
I always wonder why would someone name their country chad
It’s a funny word
And steal an eastern (sorry, central) European country's flag.
The meme didn't exist when the province was established, presentism is so tiresome.
@@noamtostealing is an essential part of native African culture
@@slimdiddydI think you meant raiding. They raid nearby tribe all the time.
@@panzerschliffehohenzollern4863 good old fashioned theft as well. Theft and violence are crucial to all black cultures around the world.
sometimes i feel calling them a country makes them more consequential than they deserve to be. with a population of only 4 million in the 1970s. isn't that why EU is so dysfunctional today. a small country can cause a gridlock.
My friend, your nervous "tick" with your shoulders gets too noticeable when you appear on camera...
With the amount of funny group names, I await the day the Philippines Islamic/Moro insurgencies are discussed.
MILF? With a little PR they could recruit alot of western men with mommy issues
Ah good ol MILF 😂
Ask to USA
This is a lot of the stuff people don't remember about Qaddafi. He was constantly sticking his thumbs into his neighbors' political disputes to grab territory, wealth, and influence in the region. He wanted to replace France as their colonizer.
True.
Based
He was a Liberator ... Revolutionary... he backed people that made a benefit for him in addition to their personal gripes
He was just another colonizer using pan-african beliefs to justify his colonization.
*Gaddafi bro
Virgins only established an island while Chads established a Republic
Lol. “FAP”
me too, had to check the comments to see if someone else mentioned it 🤪
A muslim-marxist?!? I've head it all now.
It's not unheard of Islamic economics is almost aligned with Marxism in some aspects
It was a goal of many African faction leaders to be able to speak "just enough Marx for Moscow, just enough Quran for Riyadh".
@@enhancedutility266How
@@Tyronius_Maximus Islamic law has caps on how much interest is charged the same can also be applied in Marxism
It's not necessarily a 50/50 split... People lean into what they care about. My friends husband was a Muslim Marxist activist from Morocco. He was more Marxist in what he pressed for. Consider that most European Marxists have Christian backgrounds. (It's more Communists that pushed down religion, albeit there's also Marx's opiate of the masses statement)
Well, this was a big unfortunate mess. I know almost nothing about Chad, so thank you for educating me a little bit regarding its modern history.
God be with you out there everybody. ✝️ :)
What a shitshow!
"We're going to talk about the Chad civil war. Insert chad/virgin meme here. Chad was under the French colonial rule for 69 years..."
Me: nice
The Bogdonov twins are french
For a country almost three times as large as Germany, it sounds like the war was fought by armies of fewer than 5000 on both sides. It's hard for me to imagine a war fought on such a wide and sparse front.
Well considering the geographical differences between Germany & Chad .
(Germany west fertile land & forest)
(Chad dry Saharan desert) it makes sense
Ireland has peacekeeping forces there, i wish that chad can find real peace and rebuild
This is the most chad civil war ever
Imagine banning beards
I’m assuming you can’t grow a beard
what geopolitical interest did Libya have in getting involved in chad? didn't libya have enough problems to contend with already, like growing economically?
15:29
Libya got most of their revenue from oil. When Qaddafi came to power he nationalized the oil and launched social programs to make Libya stable, for the most part. Qaddafi wanted to oppose Western and imperial forces and was a self proclaimed revolutionary, in fact if you have heard of a terrorist or guerilla group from the 70s/80s their is a high chance Libya was involved.
in before anyone can watch the whole video and as I am the first comment allow me to make a joke:
the Libyan Army in Chad
fap lol
he's trying
The usual African cluster.
moral lesson the more divided the faction the more chance the lose the cause of there fighting for and be careful who to trust and being friends with
That’s not the moral lesson
I'm very into African history - this is the best summary of Chad I've seen. Thank you. D.A., J.D., NYC
Glad you enjoyed it!

Argent made a video on the funny acronyms. Do watch his channel. In any case, Thank You for this beauty. I always wish to know what the French were up to. Edit: Watching this, it seems that it began with perhaps understandable causes but Libya seeking it's own ends while entirely isolated by potential allies as well as the new governments increasingly accommodating rebel demands meant instead of France, Libya was the oppressive power. Fascinating stuff as usual.
Up yours, GUNT
Interesting. Thank you.
Me arguing with myself in the mirror
Good grief, there were so many back-and-forths.
Btw, I really appreciate your useful and clean looking visuals!
You should do some on Mozambique's civil war
After watching this, I now believe that the complexity of the Chadian Civil War makes the Yugoslav Wars look like a Kindegarden school play. I had to rewind the video so many times 😂.
You missed something in all this, the difference between an arabised African and an arab. The Toubou are black Africans but have been arabised. This is important as France capitalised on the pre existing identity crisis caused by the Arab identity being embedded into Islam. This, I would say is something that can easily be reaolved through dearabising Islam for Islamic Africans but unfortunately Arabs were doing their own racialised approach to intruding into Africa which Europeans built on with their reconquista and age of discovery. That identity crisis is also present in Nigeria with its civil war, Sudan with its civil war, secession of S. Sudan and currrent war and genocide in north Sudan. It also explains the presence of Israel and European countries as they have everything to gain in maintaining Africans fractured and will capitalise on legitimate grievances i.e. South Sudan or Southern Chad.
Lots of killing for very small stakes.
"GUNT"
lol, lmao even
100% im stoned and drunk eating a honey and peanutbutter sandwich, and then he starts dropping Chads, FAPs, and GUNTs, im loving life
the pronunciation of the nigerian cities was wild lol
Sounds like the feuds of eastern Kentucky in the late 1800's 😅
This is som complicated!
Complicated overdose!
Great channel
Lived in Chad from 1987 to 1990. Left a few months before the civil war started.
Now that's a Chad if I have ever seen one
thanks keep it up
Bogdonov is french chad is his colony
These boys argued over dirt lls
That’s my country I’m a Chad
You know its an African Civil War when the awkward acronyms start popping up
Africa is still an interesting continent. I love learning about it because there’s so much history to go over. If only they had better leaders in each country we’d have a far more prosperous and lively Africa
The borders account for 99% of the conflicts
Modern history is the most interesting for me
Country full of Chads!
The chaddest war ever fought
The fact that Chad territory looks exactly like Chad head
this is the 2nd video I have seen dedicated to Chad
No it’s not

Great video! The only suggestion is that with the wackiness of French transliteration of Arabic, "ou" usually gets pronounced like a W at the beginning of words.
W T F.
I love my country Chad from the bottom of my heart. France out of my country!
French: ok *leaves*
chad: *immediately falls apart* wait no come back!

There is a big mistake with the map on the beginning of this video, that pictures all of Morrocco as a French colony. In colonial times a large part of the present day area of Morrocco was administered by Spain.
No that’s incorrect

The turning point in the Chadian Civil War was the Battle of Tyrone.
