That run Butler had few years back was prime example of how teams can overcome deficiencies....dictate tempo, great defense, combined with good shot selection late in shot clock. Surprised more teams don't do this in march....it doesn't make for great tv though.
Totally respect Ken Pomeroy statistical analysis of college basketball. No disrespect. However, if you look at power rankings the past three years, I am not sure his algorithms effectively consider strength of schedule. You are only as good as your competition. I won’t single out any university in his top five rankings. But anyone that is objective must question his rankings.
I'm sorry guys but I honestly think Ken looks like till Lindemann.. also and again just my opinion but I don't think teams should be ranked after pres season until post season. Evaluate them before fall, give them a ranking top 25, leave it up to record for a week or so then remove them until after conference championships. Evaluate them again before selection Sunday and place the top 25 where they belong until its all over! I feel like teams, faculty and fans would get along better, less criticism and disrespecting while simultaneously in my opinion make teams play harder! If a team knows they reach #1 after 2 months of hard work then the following Saturday get that stripped of them on top of the loss it just Boggs them down not to mention social media doesn't help matters. Plus you'll never have those saying over or under rated anymore!

I've made ridiculous amounts of money using only kenpom to handicap. He's a genius.
what formula do you use to handicap games? any info you're willing to share?
I just subbed to KenPom and use the rankings, but don't have a specific formula

Analytics may help as a baseline, but ultimately it comes down to good defense as well as making shots! Not that complicated!
