    This is the best, most in depth cornering video I have ever seen. Well done.

    A bit of Physics 101... Not many riders know that you actually turn RIGHT to go left (and vice versa)...
    To turn say LEFT... you need the centre of gravity to shift to the left (i.e. fall into the turn) BUT... you can't just move your centre of gravity when your balancing on a pair of thin wheels...
    so to shift your centre of balance to the left... you unconsciously steer the bike to the right... your body is left behind in the centre but the bike is now out to the right, the result is now you are falling to the left... and thats where your instincts kick in, and you turn left into the fall..
    You can test this... ride in a straight line, seated, palms pushing forward lightly on both handle grips.. now pus a little more on say the left palm for a split second (turning the bike under you to the left...) which way do you end up going...
    Not that any of that really helps as your brain takes care of those subtleties for you.
    Ah the human brain.. Gotta love it..
    Uhhm... if anyone has one laying round spare I could really do with it, I think I burnt this one out years ago...

    Agreed with others. I never comment but had to take the time to say this is the best how to mtb video on the internet. Watch out GMBN.

    I really like that ski analogy. I always just swung my hips without regard to the tilt of the feet so my body was turned but the bike was still straight. Feel so much more balanced now

    Very new MTB rider here. I’ve watched countless cornering videos because its my weak point. This is by far the best, most in depth and helpful video out there! Thank you 🙏

    Sick man! Just so everybody knows if you do a lesson this is exactly what it’s like, just rode with him yesterday with max and definitely helps you progress. Great video and cool guy.

    Awesome! Ive been working on cornering more this year as my front has been washing out on my right turns. Body position, turning with hips, bike body separation all fantastic things to practice practice practice. Thank you Jimmy! Great video😎👍🏽

      Heck ya man! Crazy how complex corners can really be, but once you get it, it’s the best feeling! Willem knows his stuff and this is only 20 minutes of a 2 hour lesson. Haha

    Another great video! It's nice seeing tutorial vids with somebody going through the same struggles I am. Nice job Bryan and that's a sweet new bike! I'll be reaching out to Willem. Do you know if he coaches in MA? I'm north of Boston.

      Thank you. I’d def recommend checking in with Willem! He is based in RI, but is very flexible to work with. I am north of Boston as well and we have worked out some great in person riding sessions, as well as some great remote/off season programs.

    Great video. Of all the cornering videos I’ve seen no one covers how to corner when you are too tired to stand/ drop the post/ have been sprinting a twisty trail for 8 minutes/ on the last lap of an xc race. Would love to see something on this.

    • @MTBTravelReview
      @MTBTravelReview  3 роки тому +3

      You aren’t wrong Andy, but as you know from racing, the goal is too drill these techniques so deep into your brain that you stick to them subliminally, even when exhausted. Turning to bad technique when exhausted is the exact reason repetition is so key. If you masters these techniques you will also be less fatigued overall because smooth is fast. All that said, shoot me a DM on Instagram or FB. I am intrigued to hear more about such a video and it could be an option in the future!

    you know ... with all that hip pointing , i kinda wished my pedals got less grip so that my feet can swivel as i point my hips

    • @MTBTravelReview
      @MTBTravelReview  Рік тому

      Should need to move your feet much if you have mobile hips, but clipless pedals do a lot a slight shift of the feet side to side without releasing.

    I'm a newbie and my thighs are shaking after a 5 to 10 minute ride. Is that normal?

    • @MTBTravelReview
      @MTBTravelReview  3 роки тому

      Yes. If you are new to riding it is going to take some time before you legs are used to the high intensity of riding. Keep riding and build up your endurance.
