I think the idea of the kharmann mobile is that you take the bikes out at night and drop the bed down to a normal height. The bed up position is just for transporting the bikes from place to place
I have a Ford Transit that I haul 2 motorcycles in. Big bikes, not scooters. Rather than dedicate the entire back of the van to bikes, or have a tiny bed above, (mine is a medium height model, the interior is just about 6') I have two bunks that fold up into the sides, Murphy style. They are 60/40 and down together form one big bed. This give the cargo area multi purpose as once the bikes are unloaded, you can let down the smaller bunk and use it for a sofa, or let both beds down and they form one big bed. The beds are pre made and ready to go. Converting from cargo to bedroom takes less than a minute. Dedicating that much space in a space starved van to hauling motorcycles is not the best use of space. I mean, it's all a compromise in a van, but the more uses for an area you can get without getting ridiculous with moving/changing things around the better.
The elektrik bikes have always been of my interest. They are fun to ride. I borrowed one from a friend. So fun. At that time, it was the first one here in my hometown. 😸🚲
Some essentials in a motor home I’ve learnt so far :- 6-7 metre motor home Refillable Gas tank (not bottles or if spare bottle have automatic change system) Oven Solar panels 2 -4 leisure batteries 4g aerial Double- or 2 beds over cabin Low mileage Big tv Garage for bikes / shopper.scooter 350kg limit Whole van under 3500kg for cheaper road tolls A/c heater for the alps 145 bhp+ Wouldn’t bother with a van too small Cheers Alan
With the exception of the garage, engine and weight all of those things can be added. Therefore you need a van with a GVW of 3500kg with a large garage!
I’m a claustrophobic biker I would get a motor home for sure put a smaller bike in the garage with an electric bike. Handy things to have for fun and shopping about
Hi Alan, I like the Weinsberg as it does solve a problem that I have seen when people go racing bikes in semi professional/ametur way, I have seen plenty of panel vans converted in this way. I have seen a few horsebox manufacturers/converters adapt there horsebox designs to suit bikes. However the best idea that I did come across was a full sized coach that had been converted into a 4 berth motorcaravan (think A class American motorhome) that was used for professional go kart racing.
I like the look of the Outlaw, i could travel with my motorbike in the back, and then take it out on site so i could lower the bed all the way down for sleeping. i had been looking at a motorhome and trailer, this is a much better solution. thanks for the info.
I'm a claustrophobic biker and cyclist, I think the trailer might be the best solution for us. I expect it would carry a 250kg bike and no compromise on comforts in the van. Would be good to see a trailer that could accommodate bike kit for 2 securely and protected from the elements, without having to be fully enclosed around the bike.
The van with the 2 bikes in - how are they secured? They appear to be just on their kick stands - I couldn’t see any grips for the wheels or handlebars or securing loops.
Hi Alan I'm looking for one of your videos from the past year but I can no longer find it. Its of a class b rv with 2 beds in the back. One bed is on an electronic lift and the other is a bench style seat that electronically goes flat. Supposedly was a custom build for a customer. Any idea what I'm talking about?
I've got a large motorbike (zzr1400 at 260kg), I also have a small electric car. Is there a trailer which could carry both? Car has to be trailered, cannot be towed. Good videos by the way!
Hi Alan,, I am not claustrophobic,, but a coffin style bunk?,, no thank you,, I'd rather sleep in hammock in a pointy branched tree..lol Knaus!!! Yes Love this company for their versatility and functionality in designs,, be it Caravans,, which they do excel at or M.H.. Love the Tail lights.!! XD Alan,, my motor scooter was sitting there. I wanted to see the Knaus M.H. UGH :)- ADRIA,, what a pretty "Girlie" Scooter. hahaha HEY......Where are you going? ALAN!!!!!!! How can people see anything,, and your passing all the,,,There's the Knaus again.......I swear,, there have been some awesome Vans, M.H., Caravans, New Age,, Retro,, Expanding Caravan's,, that we would have been cool and off the beaten path.. Hahahahaha And stop asking us what we want to see bc I've been asking for years and,,,, Is it so hard for you to go to France and find me that 2013 Chausson with the lifting side panel? And while you're there find me a 2018 NOTIN With the drop down back Garage and Electric Motor Car.? ,,, See????,,,,, what I ask for is not so unreasonable? Besides you are closer to France than I am. Lol ( All said in teasing fun:) P.S. We have been talking for,,omg,,8-9 yrs. Wow. lol
Seems a bit pointless to me. It would be far simpler if you were going to a bike meeting just to take a tent etc rather than all that messing about with a van like that in my opinion. That said, each to their own. Good video though.
Taking the bike with a van is a good compromise in my case , my wife won't do the long distances as a pillion passenger, but is happy with 2 or 3 hour trips. My preference would be bike only and tent .

That sounds like a good solution. Who did the conversion? Is it a standard model they have or custom built?
@@susanjennings3844 Self build. Not as pretty, but I get what I want and save a ton of money.

Some interesting solutions
Keep on doing those videos! I really like to listen and learn.
The Karman would be perfect if it didn’t have cupboards above the bed and windows instead. Shame it’s not available in the UK.

These 6.36m long campers. looks like a 2.2m Harley can fit , right Alan? Now add awd 4x4
I think we have it, oh yah the price.
I don't know if a Harley would fit or not Joe, not being a biker myself, but I suspect it might!
Preciosos Motorhomes.

Hi Alan, that moto trailer you called a horse box , did you notice the price, if not it's OK.
I can't remember that now Joe, that was a while ago and I see so many of them!

Not yet but I will think about it!
Buenas tardes, buenas tomas, saludos Alan.
Saldudos desde Mulheim an der Ruhr Clemente!
Hi Alan, great I never can choose van or bike ? Now just need money . Mauro

Who is the manufacturer of that trailer with electric bike and motorbike please ? Cheers alan keep up the hard work 👌
Maybe it was Saviko or Lineppe.
Alan Heath cheers 🍻
I don’t understand why not lay the bikes flat?
Never put an electric bike inside down - water damage possible
Tbh
I don’t think the majority of storage areas looked at have enough width
And obviously that isn’t doable with scooters..
Alasdair Henley why can’t you use a scooter in the back ?
Yellow Submarine
No....I said you can’t lay a scooter on it’s side
Read the comment I was replying to

All to yourself and you’re wearing a mask.
I respect the rules. No masks, no event at all - it was that clear!
I wouldn’t sleep with the bike that is too low for me
