A four axle Alco running on street trackage, with an iconic on-line brewery in the background that gets switched regularly...as a model railroader and railfan, I suspect this is what heaven will look like, if I ever get there.
I enjoy watching your videos of the street running railways. I am in Cornwall Ontario and I used to live in Toronto. I can remember when CP did some street running to the Redpath Sugar Plant on Queen's Quay. That was in the 90's . I miss seeing that.
My husband and I are watching from Albany, NY. My dad worked for the Erie then Erie Lackawanna. For us, the sounds of trains mean home. Love your channel.
Great job as always... In case you didn't know it the MA&N 2453 was built for the recently minted Erie Lackawanna as their 2453 in October 1964. She is still serving after nearly 60 years..
I was up in Utica for a couple hockey games last Saturday! I got Amtrak 64 and a Csx train, but sadly didn’t catch any action from NYS&W or the Adirondack Railroad! 😥😞
Always enjoy your videos. I was on NY 5A coming back from a doctor's appointment this morning and had to stop while this train was crossing 5A. Keep the videos coming.
I'm a retired ex-Utican watching from San Luis Obispo, California. I reminisce about my childhood years in Utica every time I watch one of your videos. These Schuyler Street videos never grow old with me. I love them! Thank you.
Hi, I'm a former New Yorker, when we were first married, I had a job in Clinton. We lived on Genesee St. Much later we moved to Santa Barbara County, CA. I had lunch on the beach. 78 degrees and very sunny.
From Washington NJ. I live about 200 feet from the old DL&W Phillipsburg Branch. Now the C&D Washington Secondary. Nice video and cool on the former EL alco.
Great video of 2 things we don’t see much of anywhere anymore: street running and Alcos! Pity the unfamiliar car drivers who turn the corner and get a face full of hood unit, then a blast from the airhorn. Clean up in aisle nine!
Hi Railroad Rambler. I grew up 2 1/2 miles from where that Alco locomotive was built. As a kid I fondly remember traveling down Maxon Rd past Alco's large holding yard and seeing row after row of locomotives. There were two tracks where retired steam locomotives were held as well. Just before World War II one of my grandfathers was a machinist at a large foundry in northwest Pennsylvania. He milled large parts for Alco steam locomotives that were shipped by rail to Alco's plant in Schenectady.
Love your videos especially the street running. Appreciate you sharing all your videos. Viewing from Bedford County Tennessee. My Grandfather was a brakeman on the Chicago & Northwestern RR in Chicago. My grandparents lived next door to a street with Steam Engines doing Switching to industrial spurs. Close by one spurs was for a Hormel meat packing plant. Several blocks north was Reeds Root Barrel Candy Company and when wind was from the North we could smell the sweet candy.
Watching from Conneaut, OH, which has always been a big railroad town. We have two sets of mainline tracks; CSX on one, and Norfolk Southern on the other. NS also has a yard here in town. The CSX trains are fast and frequent!
Great video. Do any of these street running freight trains have cabooses at the end? Just curious. I like to see the caboose at the end of freight trains just at the state borders for long hauls. Other places they use a caboose once in a blue moon not too often. The deliveries they make are local runs. That's probably why you don't see cabooses that much anymore blah.
If you have to borrow a locomotive make it worthwhile. I see today is just a limited trip to the branch. Greetings from Milwaukee where we got our first 5 hours of sunshine in 10 days
Ex upstate New Yorker (a.k.a. "apple knocker") writing from an Air B&B in Glen Cove, NY. I came out on the storied LIRR yesterday. I remember Utica Club from my beer imbibing youth, and love seeing NYS&N running on Schuyler Street. I rode The Black Diamond in my youth, and would ride it regularly if it still ran. I live a short walk from a Northeast Corridor train station. I love riding those trains, but they ain't the same.
Could you tell me what building thats in the back ground light brown about four stories. It resembles a building that stood in my home town of Bellefonte Pa. Looks like they painted the brackets up by the roof line.
I’m watching from Westchester County NY. Great vid!!
Hi from Norwich, that Alco is sweet looking!!

Nice to hear from you! By the way, Witold has a sister named Rosie who also lives with us. She's a true rascal that one!

Hello from near Dover Foxcroft Maine. Hope Witold is well.
He's doing fine. Had a short window to catch this train today so Witold stayed put in the office. He'll appear again soon enough!
Hello Railroad Rambler & Witold. Looks quite cold. Stay warm.
I am watching from Dorset UK 👍🇬🇧🚂😊😊😊

I suspect you meant B&M (Boston & Maine RR) in Troy. The Baltimore & Ohio was no where near Troy.
Great video. Do any of these street running freight trains have cabooses at the end? Just curious. I like to see the caboose at the end of freight trains just at the state borders for long hauls. Cabooses haven’t been used on Schuyler Street since Conrail sold the line to NYS&W in 1982.
@@railroadingrambler218 oh okay thanks for letting me know.
Tom from Wells, Maine.
Watching from Maine! I love this!
It would be really crazy to see an SD70M-2 on this line!
If you have to borrow a locomotive make it worthwhile. I see today is just a limited trip to the branch. Greetings from Milwaukee where we got our first 5 hours of sunshine in 10 days
Not much sun here of late either, unfortunately
Pittsburgh pa thanks for sharing
Still in central Illinois
Why the borrowed power? Is 3040 in the shop again??? (Viewed from Columbia, MD - I am from Utica however!)
I suspect 3040 is either having a regularly scheduled inspection or undergoing repairs.

Cortland, NY
Geneva, NY. Do they still service the brewery?
Yes, 1-2 times per week
I'd hate to be the guy that has to ring that bell.....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Melrose Park IL.
Hi from sussex uk
I hope the engineers stopped at McDonalds for lunch . 🇺🇸🚂😂
What is wrong with 3040? Asking from Sarasota, FL
Probably down for inspection
🎉🎉🎉🎉
So why did they have to borrow a locomotive?
3040 likely down for inspection or repairs
