    See how the upgrade is going here: ua-cam.com/video/AEMrpWTRFwE/v-deo.html. We talk about more updates, filter performance, dust deputy performance, and more!

    One of the best basic how-to’s to upgrade a single stage to 2 stage system. Thanks!!! ❤

    Was debating on buying this. However, your video told me to buy it. Thank you

    Overall the preference over the long term should be huge. The pleated filter has a large increase in filter surface area. Further most of the dust and chips will never reach the filter that will remove dust too small to see. A quick blow down from the outside and the filter will be cleaned while sealed and the 5 gallon pail is easily emptied. The same sized Donaldson filter is much more affordable but because it is an air filter built for a truck is designed to filter from outside in and not inside out. This would mean that blowing to clean from the outside may not work as well

      There's too many benefits to list going this route. It's been a couople years now and I'm still loving it.

    Really nice job, and easy video, like the fact it is not overly produced.

    I've got a General 2hp with a Super Dust Deputy already installed. Works great. That Wynne filter looks nice. What is the rating? Do they make a HEPA? Cost? I know, lotsa questions. Excellent build and a great video. Thanks.

    Easy upgrade for barrel would be to get a clamp with quick release. Love the video and about to get a wen dust collector with the plan to do same upgrade next year.

      The removable tops are great. Just get a two piece lid and it works great!

      Or you could put a couple handles on the barrel and spin the barrel @@OutdoorsEngineer

    great concept. really like this and will probably implement some version of it. where do you get the drum? and what's the 2 piece lid you mentioned might be a better option?

    I believe that's a 3 stage system. Cyclone/separator/filter. Looks like it does the job!

    I wonder if some kind of magnetic connection between your dust deputy and the 55 gal. drum could be worked out .. just a thought

    You could probably delete the Oneida the way you have it set up and just put the big barrel where you have the small bucket. That's my plan except I'm going to vent my outside through a dryer vent that's in my workshop and also delete the filter.

    • @OutdoorsEngineer
      @OutdoorsEngineer  9 місяців тому +1

      The Oneida is nice to be able to get most of the big stuff out before it gets to the fan. The idea is to have multiple ways to extract dust, and the deputy is the first one in the line. Thanks for watching!

    When you factor in the cost of all of the upgrades, wouldn't it be more economical to just save the money on the Wen + parts and get a beefier collector from the start?

    • @OutdoorsEngineer
      @OutdoorsEngineer  Місяць тому

      @@GideonExists potentially. But I didn't have the cash for the more expensive one to start.

      The beefier collectors are at minimum several thousand more than this setup.

    has merv 10 been enough or do you see some super fine dust escape over time?

    • @OutdoorsEngineer
      @OutdoorsEngineer  7 місяців тому

      I honestly haven't noticed dust escaping. I've been happy with it. I never really thought of getting the next step of I think MERV 15. Are you thinking of getting one?

      Stick around. I"m working on a video this week to be release this weekend of the updates and cleaning of the dust collector!
      Just use the air compressor to blow it out, blowing air from the outside.

    I have that idea for the future, mi sisten is same but whith vacuum and dust stopper, but mi sistem is 2.5 inch, is that a problem? Any answer in spanish is better but i have translayor

    • @OutdoorsEngineer
      @OutdoorsEngineer  8 місяців тому +1

      Traduje esto usando IA. Típicamente, la mayoría de los sistemas son al menos de 4 pulgadas. Si tienes un sistema de 2.5 pulgadas, eso restringirá el flujo.

    Can you remove the filtersack and just suck everyting out in a ventilation hole in the Wall?

    • @OutdoorsEngineer
      @OutdoorsEngineer  2 місяці тому

      Sure, as long as you have an intake that allows the same amount of air you are pushing out to be pushed back in. Especially in heating and cooling seasons, this would result in extra heat and ac required to cool or heat the new air coming in.

    My super d.d. is way bigger that that. I don't think they had that size at the time I did mine. Or I messed up.

    • @OutdoorsEngineer
      @OutdoorsEngineer  9 місяців тому

      I originally had the big one. Then realized that they had a smaller one, so I swapped them and Woodcraft made that very easy. Sometimes the bigger one won't work as efficiently with a smaller blower motor that's on the Harbor Freight and Wen 3403.

    Why buy a different 2 part lid? Just cut the one you have to hold down a piece of ply to the barrel.

    • @OutdoorsEngineer
      @OutdoorsEngineer  Рік тому +1

      Not a bad idea. I do have another single lid I could cut down too. To be honest, I don't know if it's s need or not. Not that bad to just remove the flange.
