Canvas is great, as you can add tons of personality to your songs. Be funny, be personal, show deeper visuals, whatever fits your brand.
Technically, you can upload anything. A picture of your hotdog. Whatever. But for example Taylor Swift in her new Midnights album, she shows a lot of short and personal clips of herself. I also stopped, paid attention and fell in love with the song "SHOTS!" by Denzel Curry and JELEEL!, as it shows footage where they go crazy backstage together. I found that hella dope!

Thanks for this useful information. I want to increase my streams on spotify from 4.7 million this year and average around 80-100k monthly listeners a month. My goal is to see anywhere from a 10-100% increase next year. I'm binge-watching a lot of your videos, getting ideas from them, experimenting with spotify ads and feeling more motivated to get on the ball with music marketing this year. Yesterday I made a bunch of spotify canvas for my top 10 songs and some of my recent songs to experiment with it. I plan to just loop the character since I make a lot of songs for video games/anime/tv shows and that kind of thing and it makes sense to have the character I'm making a cover/remix/original song for.

I think saying that it will double your streams is a bit of a stretch and a bit click baity. I've been using Spotify canvas more frequently this year but it has not resulted in double the streams. The biggest thing that has helped increase my streams was pitching my music to Spotify curators and releasing more frequently. :)
