So I’ve done a ton of 70.3 and 140.6 events myself. Biggest thing I can say is you aren’t training for each event individually. You’re training to run after a swim and bike. You train the bike after a swim but fresh enough to run afterwards, and you train the swim to be as efficient as possible to keep calories and energy in the body as to not burn out.
This is my 5th year transitioning from a cyclist to triathlete. Best thing I’ve ever done. If one day I don’t feel like cycling I can just swim or run instead. P.s I’m glad that there is some sport I am faster than you in 😂! Solid effort way better than my first go at it
Great Job Cam! I started triathlon 10 years ago, I'm hooked now, looking forward for the next season. Did you wear a tri suit on that race! Looks like it's your cycling outfit.
great tri! i did my first quarter triathlon last summer, being a track runner that did some cycling for fun on the weekends i had good base fitness without actually training for this. Swimming was by far the worst and i got overtaken by the group of girls that started 5 minutes later than us. luckily the cycling and running where good enough to get a P2 in my age category too!
Love it. Been cycling for almost 3 years, running for 2, starting swim lessons in a few days- looking forward to doing a triathlon- the goal is an Ironman in few years maybe depending on how swimming goes. Glad you got the tri-bug
So this is me watching this the day before my first triathlon… My last time training anything was 3 months ago (my last time swimming was 6 months ago)😬😅 Uni has taken all my time the last few months… Anyway your video does comfort me a bit😂 Greetings from Germany
Excellent Style Of Behind The Scenes , Day Of , And Interviews - Way Cool Brother C - Congrats The Finishing Time , Overall Placement , And Age Group Factor - Stay Strong Cheers
My gf's brother done an Ironman and ive never seen people in such a physical state (the running section) in fact it near moved me to tears, they where in level hell, you'd look at people's eyes and they where glazed over, zombie like pain written all over faces, the ambulance crews where busy....hell of a situation to watch and witness, think it took her brother a week to feel normal
Hi . I've a question please. So, I've a olympic distance triathlon June 1st. So, 3 weeks. The issue is, my 1500m in the pool is constantly around 48- 50 mins. The cutoff is 55 mins on the day. I'm doing the distance constantly under the time limit, while taking loads of breaks (to catch my breath) I'm not swim fit. I'm still worried about the open water swim (it's a river) even tho I'm getting under the cutoff time by 5 mins in thr pool and taking an many breaks. A part of me is confident, the other is telling me I won't make the cutoff. The first side of me is I'm telling myself I'll go a bit faster on the day of fear of not making the cutoff time, due to adrenaline Any advice?? Getting nervous for it now! Thanks for any help/advice you could give
I once did a full marathon with no training ahead....finished, but paid the price over the next few days.....one thing I notice about running is that you have the folks who are trying to win and then you have the folks that just want to finish, do it for fun, and not worry about personal best times.........how does that compare to Triathlons?.......are they mostly the hard core folk, or do you have your share of participants who are there for fun as opposed to pushing to the ultimate limit?
I have done nearly 50 Tris, the swim is what most newbies screw up on....I know I did, I drastically overestimated my swimming ability and thus didn't train for it nearly enough. I thought I was going to drown after 300 meters of the 1000. LOL
I have to say it's a little annoying when a fit person says I'm attempting my first triathlon knowing darn well they will do fine.... coming in 3rd in your age group and that overall time is a fantastic time. It's a slap in the face to say " I can't believe I'm doing this" knowing you will be performing just fine... it takes people that are trying triathlon for the first time that aren't fit years to do that well. It's like taking a professional indoor soccer player and putting them with a bunch of Sunday 35+ outdoor players and the indoor pro player saying " I'm out of my element, I probably won't do well."
A wise man once said: A shark can out swim me, but I can outrun a shark, so in a triathlon it would all come down to the cycling... think you'd have had that shark well beat. Congratulations!
Great job Cam,, need more of this !

Can’t wait to see the Ironman video Cam. But maybe just stick to the easier 70.3 distance 😂

It looks like a tri suit to me, no chamois nappy that I can see during the run, also hes got a seasoned triathlete to keep him right.
Got my first sprint Tri in 6 week.s I’ve just started training. Super looking forward to it

Keep on doing the sprint distance triathlons , looks like you have alot of potential in the sprint distance
Great content, good result considering the 2wk notice as well. Without doubt you've def got the potential to be very good at this.

By looking at your swim and run times, you are on a great track to become a triathlete!
Nice one Cam, once you get the bug for Triathlon its a dangerous game 😂 smashed it!
Good work. If you fancy a longer race then Ironman Wales or a bike heavy route like Alpe d'Huez long course which is an amazing experience.
Well done! Its good to try new things. A bit of cross training keeps things interesting.

How was there someone faster then you in the bike
Nicee love seeing you out there doing new things
Cool action-cam footage. This was quite entertaining!
Next winter: try speedskating and come to the Netherlands for a winter triathlon (running - cycling - speedskating)
Natural born winner! Great effort mate. I always said I’d do an Ironman by the time I’m 50. Im 47 now and still haven’t done any sort of triathlon!!!!
Great work and a lovely video Cameron

Good work lad. Love the ambition and enthusiasm
For a first triathlon that's a solid effort. Great racing. Hope to see you at some more 👌
Way to go Cameron! Finished strong!
I was there. Recognised you and tried to approach during the award ceremony but then got shy and turned back.
Wow, well done cam, I’m sure I suggest this a few years ago 😁
See you on the starting line at Bolton some time - we’ll done
Go Cameron, cheering all the way from Kenya!!!
👊
Enjoyed that video Cam. Wasn’t expecting a triathlon from u but fair play for getting out there and doing it. They’re no easy thing are they?
I’d like to refer you to rule 42, “A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run”
Great work Cam
Great Job Cameron! Well made video as well.

Well maybe get fit and eat healthy and stop complaining
As such a good cyclist you'd be better suited to the longer distances for sure! Keep it up!
Happy you survived..🤠🚀😄💛
I call BS. He flew from East Mids. 🤷🏻♂️
Team up with Dowsett on tri!
Good on you for giving it a go! My philosophy, why suck at just one sport when you can suck at three. :)
Do an Ironman! Let’s gooo
Good effort boy!
Did the Nireas Ayia Napa Middle Distance a couple years back.....nice work Cam.
(Came 7th for anyone who cares 😂)
With two weaks training? Man I needed one month (2 runs/week) to run 5 km without pause (8 min/km).
Haven't seen that kind of base cap for 20 yrs or so xD
Yeah boy
Very well done Cam 👏 Am sure you will get hooked 👍
