My family doesn’t have a clue about keto. They just don’t get it. I have lost 40# so far and off bp meds completely [took many different prescriptions for 30+ years] now none. 67 years old, on keto for 8 months. Still have 90# to lose. It’s hard to believe my blood pressure this morning was 115/60, pulse 52. UA-cam is my support group, my teachers, and my friends. Thank you everyone. Last New Years I was in very bad shape. Uncontrolled weight, blood pressure, and hospitalized 3 times for a-fib. All that changed with keto. I’m in it for the long haul.
c s agreed. My doc was really happy with my blood test results after I went keto. When asked what I did differently I told him then he proceeded to lecture me on how bad it was... one minute after saying how impressed he was with the results.
This is a really serious video that echo’s my experiences, keto was just the beginning, losing weight by changing the ingredient meant no real hardship, as the weight fell off , the fun began, I took up exercise, e biking, supplanting weight loss with muscle, so I’ve moved to one keto meal a day and the weight loss continues, never felt healthier and I’m 81 years old.
@@MeMe-dw1sm December 1939, Thanks for your video, I feel I’m getting smarter as I learn more and the OMAD is so manageable, and effective. I sleep at midnight and eat again about 5pm and lightly , then later have a normal evening meal ( keto rules). Incidentally your own before and now photos are so convincing I know this is really working. Thanks again.
I am a 65 year old women . In 2017 I was diagnosed with diabetes and high cholesterol. I went on a low carb high GOOD fat diet and in 4 months I had lowered my cholesterol back to normal. My blood sugar problem took 7 months so i could get off the meds and not have to prick my finger. I was also doing alot of intermittent fasting. About 1/2 the way through this I realized I was basically doing Keto so I started taking cues from the Keto community. I realized I could eat my ribeye steaks, and other things my doctor said i couldn’t. Cheese was a thing i did not have to cut that I love. I use lots of good fats and fresh herbs in my cooking. I had to keep my diet flavorful.! I have lost 60 lbs and went down 4 clothes sizes. I am enjoying life so much, I literally feel like I am 30 again. It is fabulous. I would say i am not strick Keto as I don’t force fat. I just cook with liberal amounts of healthy oil and butter. I love your channel for great recipes. Thanks and God bless.
Your testimony is very encouraging. I am a 72+ year old US military service connected wheelchair bound incomplete quadriplegic living in the Philippines. Losing excess pounds has been a real challenge for me, but I recently learned about ketosis and have lost 12 lbs since beginning keto 2 months ago. I am type 2 diabetic and have drastically cut my insulin use by 3/4 and looking forward to ditching the needles and finger sticks. I’m currently 258 pounds. Down from 270 lbs at start of this lifestyle. It’s a bit of a challenge being the only one doing keto, but my wife isn’t fat hahahaha! Thanks for sharing and giving me hope.

My best advice for beginning Keto... 1) Never trust a Keto fart in the first three weeks. 2) Commit to giving it a 30 day chance, weigh yourself on the 1st day and the 30th day only. 3) Buy a 64oz water jug and get married to it. It’s easier to get the right amount, when you can see it all at once. 3). Dont fall into the “stuff” trap (all the special ingredients, sweeteners and “keto” labeled products). Keep keto simple and cheap until you decide its time to progress and clean it up. 4) Never stop researching. You’re not as brilliant as you think you are.
That’s a lot of good advice. It was 3 months before I went on a scale and have only been on a scale 4 times since then and that was 170 pounds lost. I still have another hundred to go.
Ive tried slightly dirty keto and Im happy.Roast dinner no longer has stuffing/roast potatoes/yorkshire puddings. But instead shed load of roast veg and steamed veg and a nice selection of meats.I like this way of eating as you don't feel as if your depriving yourself.Head clarity is a big plus.Like your video.
IKR.. unbelievable! U can literally have a box of fried chicken fries a huge shake and a slab of pie on your table and no one sees an issue, but say Keto and the sirens go off, thanks Steve this series wonderful and informative and your so brave to put it all out for us to learn from... much appreciated enjoy your vaycay
@@laquettarobinson3168 it's better to cast healthiness as a crime than to have to admit that you can't enjoy said ice cream, cake, cookies, chips, fried chicken fries, shakes and other garbage. You are the first person that I’ve ever seen mention a yawn cramp. They are the worst. You have given me such great insight and advice. It is much appreciated.
Steve! EXCELLENT POST! I found myself nodding and smiling and remembering and reflecting throughout. What a GIFT you have for communicating! Every once in a while your voice would catch and I know how honest and vulnerable you're being. Congratulations and thanks for doing what you do! I am amazed that a few peeps feel compelled to write snotty comments. I hope you don't let that crap enter your thinking. You rock!!
I really enjoyed your series. I cried with you and laughed with you. I hope you realize the positive impact you have on so many people. Looking forward to your videos this coming year. Enjoy you much deserved vacation!
I shared your sentiment. It has inspired me to continue with my keto diet. Thanks "Serious Keto" and a happy new year to you. Regards from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Thank you Steve for this and all of your videos. My story... My son went keto in 2019 and lost something like 50#. He would preach to me and I was curious, but never made the move. In 2020, I lost my job and was home a lot. I'm a type 1 diabetic and saw a video that basically told me I could expect to live 10 less years as a result. Being 59, that was an eye opener. Plus, I've scared to death of Alzheimers--which got my mom and grandmother--and I saw some vids talking about how keto/IF can prevent that. So I started with IF--skipping breakfast--and not really going keto at first, but skipping some carbs. I dropped from about 185 to 165 and stalled before my goal weights of 152 and 144. So I started skipping lunch as well which was surprisingly easy for me and got down to the upper 150s. Then I decided to go full on keto, which was a bit tough, since my family isn't. After a 4-5 month journey, I got down around 142 +/- 2 and my wife started complaining that I'm too thin. lol. I've been doing this for 9 months now and my weight is the same. One thing that's challenging for me is that there's not a lot of information out there for type 1's and keto/IF. So I had to learn on my own for the most part. But I can tell you, when you've been fasting for 8+ hours, if you have your long acting insulin (or pump basal dosage) set right, your bg doesn't move, which NEVER happens otherwise. The BEST part about keto/IF as a type 1 is that once you get ketone adapted, when you go low--and I've had that happen too much frankly (read on to see why)--you don't get the bad, potentially life threatening symptoms. No confusion, no sweating, no passing out, no convulsions--all of which have happened to me. GONE. It's the game changer of all game changers. I'll never go back for that reason alone. Why do I go low a lot? My insulin regimen is fast acting Humalog at meals and Lantus at night. However, Humalog is designed to hit you quickly--it peaks in like 2 hours--which is consistent with the rate at which carbs affect your bg. However, carbs are so limited in my diet, what happens is that I tend to go low right away and then bounce up later when the proteins metabolize. I've seen a youtube or two talk about this and suggest to change the insulin to slower acting R or another similar one. I'll be discussing this with my Endo at my next visit. Speaking of doctors, don't expect them to be on board with keto. Mine wasn't. Just keep in mind that YOU know your body and YOU have to live with the results, not your doctor. They are advisors, not bosses. But when my A1C dropped from 6.9 to 6.3 and my labs came back great, he started listening. He's also about my age and probably about 280#. I gave him a pep talk and asked him... "who in our area is CURING type 2s or has their type 1's be non-problematic when going low? Don't you want to be THAT guy who doesn't just dispense drugs, but actually makes your patients much better? If I'm your first keto/IF patient, your second should be YOU." Steve's advice is generally very good about what to expect. I didn't have less farting. It's just not as smelly. I dropped from a 36 waist to a 32. And since I was without work for a while, Goodwill is my friend. Especially on half off senior day! On the no sweating thing, I've stopped using anti-perspirant as an experiment. 8 weeks and counting so far and no complaints from my wife. On the cramping, lack of electrolyte issue, something that Dr. Stephen Phinney (youtube him) suggested worked great for me... Dissolve a bullion cube in water and drink it once or twice a day. Cheap and effective. Thanks again Steve!
75 pounds down and counting. reversed diabetes. loooooooooooooooong list of other health improvements! never stop learning! constantly tweaking and improving what i do through baby steps along the way! thank you for sharing!
@@MostViralVideos007 i make keto recipe mini waffles (dairy-free) for bread when needed. I just make a big batch, use round parchment slips from amazon between each one, and store in round container, also from amazon. Search thomas delauer's video on keto bread to learn what to look for on the labels. Most of them are crap! So be careful! I also want to try Serious Keto's carnivore tortilla! For that, buy big bin of pork rinds (no msg) from costco. And since you have the bin, check out Keto Twins video on "snack wrap" to use crushed pork rinds as fried chicken batter! I don't make the wrap... but that chicken recipe is a big winner with my whole family! Have fun!
I started out low carb and moved to keto. I went through all the versions of keto. I'm more ketovore currently. I have also cut way back on alcohol. The first time I told someone I was only eating 20 carbs a day. They flipped out and said that's like the Atkins diet and I'm going to die. So now I usually say I cut my carbs back and removed processed foods and sugar. Then they tell me they could never remove sugar. And the conversation moves on. Thanks for sharing.
Hey, thank you. My advice? Now I'm a great grandma and back on it. 30 years ago, I went on Atkins and benefited so much. I read the WHOLE book and used it to manage constant ovarian cysts. In 10 years I completed my education, founded and built a great career. I got talked out of Atkins. Believed it was harmful. Quit and took up the SAD. 17 surgeries over 20 years for cysts and surgical errors and consequences. It cost me so so much. Threw me into major depression. Lost my career. So being back on it these last two years? Restoration of mind and soul. Energy level again good and solid. Depression at bay and now feels like just a minor mood issue. Weight coming off steady. Getting compliments on my skin and hair. Off meds I took for 25years. That "withdrawal syndrome" is another nightmare BTW. To sum it up? my advice is "Don't get barked out of your tree". If you're finding healing, stay with it.
I made the mistake of telling people I was doing Keto at first. Well you can imagine the backlash I got. Now I just tell people that I’m cutting back/out the processed carbs. That usually suffices. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us and doing this fantastic series on your transformation! Have a great time on your vacation!
I had chronic fatigue and life was getting unbearable...at 46 years old! A friend suggested Dr Bergs book early 2019 and I read it cover to cover over a couple of days and then watched a myriad of videos from diff keto youtubers, read research, read and listened to anecdotal evidence. The one thing that made it so successful for me (I felt hope! finally within 3-4 days) was that I did intermittent fasting with keto. I didnt know they were separate until 3 months in! I thought that was just how you did keto. For an all in kind of person like me, I was glad I didn't know. But a year later, I feel like IF is just slightly more valuable, but I cant imagine life without keto. And all that I've learned on this journey.
Thank you for this series. I really enjoyed it and loved your honesty. I started keto in January 2023 and dropped about 8 pounds in about 2 weeks. I love vegetables but soon realized after about a month that the vegetables were causing all of my discomfort: horrible bloating and gas for hours. I have immersed myself in keto videos and several discussed digestive issues being resolved by moving into a carnivore diet. I did this out of desperation to alleviate my stomach pain after meals. This has worked beautifully for me. All of my pain, gas, and bloating has gone; and the weight loss has continued. A lot of your recipes are also carnivore, so I will keep watching! Thank you for all that you do! 😊
I just finished watching this mini series of your transformation and it’s inspired me.! Turns out we are a lot alike, bad food and alcohol. I did Keto almost 2 years ago until I was in a horrific car accident that’s taken me over a year to recover from. While I was laying around with casts on all 4 limbs my eating went south and working out was not an option at all. Lately I’ve had a burning inside me to get back on track, that’s when I found your channel. You have truly inspired me to pick myself up and brush off the dust. I’m thinking about documenting my journey and posting on my UA-cam channel as well. Thanks for all you do, you are making a difference out there.! Curt
WOW, I just sat through all six of your transformation videos. I couldn't stop watching. THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORDS AND LESSONS. It is always rewarding to find someone who has gone through lifestyle changes, you yourself have struggled through. I've been obese my entire adult life, which is a lot of years, I will be 73 years young this year. It reinforced that I was not the only one struggling. I'm sorry you hand go through so many painful trials through your younger years. I can't understand the negative words of some people, I can't understand why they listen, but I guess they have to gripe about something. I have no idea they pain you have and do go through, I will never say to you or anyone else, "I know how you feel", I hate when someone says that to me, because they have no idea. What I will say is, I have gone through my own pain and I know how I felt, when I was going through trying times. I started Keto May 2017, I owe my success to my son-in-law. He lost a lot of weight, I asked how he did it, he told me Keto. Then and there I decided if he could do this, so could I. In all of this time I have never cheated once, I've thought about it may times, but I literally tell myself, JUST SAY NO, and that's what I have done. I'm very strict with myself, I have to be, I have no will power, I know my weaknesses. During this time I have traveled, several times, I go out to dinner several times a months, I just stay on Keto, I JUST TELL MYSELF NO. I have lost a total 140 pounds, I have 10 pounds to go to reach my personal goal. Once again thank you for share your life with us. I do believe we go through the trials of our lives for a reason, I do believe It's part of God's plan. Without those trials I would not be the person I am today, and I like me now.
Thank you so much for doing this series, I'm new to keto and the hope I have now... That maybe someday this year even, I might not hate myself and my body.. has brought me to tears! Again, thank you sir!
Loved this series! My lesson learned....life tastes much sweeter without insulin shots. Also, I'd rather spend more money on quality food now than pay with my health. (Reversed diabetes, recovered from acute kidney failure, heart attacks, a failed triple bypass, stents, joint/muscle pain.) I'm 46 years old and feel like I'm 25 again. 😁💗🤘
From weighing 214 pounds last year to 166 today, intermittent fasting/ one meal a day, and exercising have totally transformed my life. I feel great! Thank you for sharing your story. Everyone in my family thinks I’m crazy for only eating once a day and not eating what they eat, BUT I made it happen, and continue to do so with strict discipline. I am conditioned now to eat keto because it is a lifestyle, a lifestyle for life.
Serious Keto thank you and same to you! yes! Even my girlfriend tries to sneak in carbs in me and I ask to see the nutritional facts and ingredients on whatever she’s snacking on and I say sorry babe, too many carbs and sugar. And she gets annoyed lol quite honestly, l am proud of myself. And I believe every person going through this journey alone, should pat themselves in the back. It wasnt easy at first, but not impossible.
You may not have had much support, which is unfortunate, but you followed your desire to change your life. You are an inspiration to so many. Thank you for your honesty. Enjoy your vacation!
My advise now that I am in my 3rd year on keto is that each persons’ journey is just that. YOUR JOURNEY! Not a specific you tuber, your neighbor, or the person you stood behind in the grocery store. Take all the tips, advise and scientific information and make it your own. You are N=1. I will echo the tip in this video, have keto snacks handy. In my first year, I had to have good options handy. I still now in my third year ensure I have a good keto friendly option around even though I do not need it nearly as often. Second tip is work into whatever level of time restricted eating/intermittent fasting you can manage as you implement and grow your keto lifestyle. 3rd tip that I wish I had paid more attention to in my early keto journey is Electrolytes, Electrolytes, Electrolytes! While I near felt really bad, I believe I would have felt better if I had been paying more attention to my electrolyte intake. Lastly for anyone new to keto is welcome.
Highly recommend getting off the snacks at whatever pace works for you. Yes Keto Snacks have a much lower insulin response than cookies or chips or fruit, but they still have one.
God Bless You Steve. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story. I'm so happy for you. Truly I am. As a type two diabetic, I went for my annual physical anly to discover my bloodwork showed my kidney function was down to 28%. My doctor took me off my diabetes meds and I paniced. Living in rural Ohio, it took 6 weeks before I could see a Nephrologist! That wasn't "Rock Bottom" as you put it, I wasn't blind, I didn't have a heart attack, I didn't have to sacrifice a foot, but I realized, even though my A1c was 5.9-6.2 for nearly 8 years, according to the American Diabetes Association I was doing fine. Yet here I am scared to death of dyalisis the rest of my life. When doc took me off meds, I said, if my body cannot metabolize carbs cut them out and I did. Ketogenic was the best option for me. I am 67, insulin resistant for many years. In one year on Keto, I have lost almost 20 pounds, have reduced my blood glucose to a nondiabetic's level A1c 5.4, and improved my kidney function from 28% to 68%! No diabetes meds - in remission. Over those diabetic years, I did everything ADA said. It looks like they may be considering a very low carb (
I absolutely love your humor! I don't think you truly realize what a difference you make in people's lives, but believe me you have a major impact. If I only have a short time to be on UA-cam, I make sure that I check your channel. Please don't ever stop - we need you!
Wow. What a journey. For me, a mum of 3 daughters, your story resonates. I'm doing the 'just getting by ok' style of living, aka 'surviving' but nowhere near 'thriving'. I'm feeling way older than my 43 years and it's not ok. Your story has inspired me to 'walk again'. Thank you for your bravery. It is changing lives like mine. Let the journey begin!!!!
I was on keto for about 6 months. Lost about 30lbs. I ended up gaining it back but because I got lazy again and started eating everything. I would say what I learned is give yourself cheats. I hated my keto because I started it in sept. I missed out on all the holiday foods, etc. That was hard and I was miserable. Allow yourself to cheat on those days, but still control what you eat. The first time I at carbs after keto I remember feeling like crap. I felt like I had a bowling ball in my belly. Take it easy. Also, I lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks, then another 10 in another month, then it slowed down drastically. Expect that, do lose faith. It happens. Everyone has different effect. Remember that. Just stick to your plan, and it will happen. Good luck.
Cheers mate for sharing . Your story has many similarities to my journey. 50 kg lighter and thankful I’ve had the keto UA-cam community to keep me motivated & informed. 👍
I've been doing Keto for 11 months, I just turn 53, and I feel substantial way better than my last 10 years, I'm towards my only and best transformation ever, I feel more energy, cognitive sharpened and will strength, really liked your transformation, I'm doing my journey alone here in Spain where Keto Diet is a strange thing, but I have really healthy food buy my side, thanks 🤟🏻💯🔝🙏🏻
I cannot believe I've not come across your channel before I've tried this so many times along with Atkins, I've had great success twice losing a ton of weight with Atkins but always rebounded terribly. 5 years ago I went with Lindora lost 80+ lbs since then I've gradually climbed in weight to now I'm at my most unhealthiest I've ever been. I cannot wait to get back into Keto your videos are a tremendous help!
Very solid advice in my experience. Wish I'd taken that before picture, too late for that now. My most important advice would be to commit to it mentally and to not loose hope or judge yourself when you experience setbacks. The supermarket is filled with 80% temptation food and only 20% wholesome food. Slip up, forgive yourself and just keep on going. Btw, I find it hugely impressive that you managed to do this in a household filled with temptations. It's so much easier to overcome temptation when there is nothing unhealthy around.
I agree - we didn’t take before photos and I soooo regret that now 65lbs later 😞 Also, if someone is able to have a Keto Partner is a huge help. My husband wanted to go Keto to lose weight from massive steroids he was on for years, I joined him in solidarity. We are now BOTH Keto lifestyle, not a diet. What changed my mind was realizing a week in that I didn’t hurt anymore, my arthritis virtually disappeared- amazing what getting rid of all those bad oils can do for your body. Great tip on the electrolytes- those cramps are NO JOKE!! I have to say that since you’re the only Keto in your house impresses me so very much. I don’t think I could’ve done it on my own. Thank you so much for your channels and the support, tips, recipes and just general down to earth attitude. You’ve probably helped more people than you will ever know.
Thank you for the very kind words and congrats on your transformation. I agree that the best part of keto is the lack of inflammation. My body just feels so much better.
Steve, i was binge watching this mini series you did like you were a Netflix original! I am SO happy you made this set of videos! My piece of advice to folks is Research, with a capital R! It has taken me 3 or 4 stabs at it to make keto stick! It gets easier as you go! Thanks for these videos! (Love your Brett Favre wall! Had. Much the same thing when i lived north of Green Bay!)
Hi. Just came across this channel. Started an alcohol free keto regime Jan 1st. I’ve lost 7lb already. I’m a development chef so I’m experimenting a lot with recipes too which is fun. I’m a keen cyclist and so far I’ve lost energy as my body gets used to less carbs. I’m sure it will adapt
Most helpful! Good dialogue. 11 months into my journey. Down by 40lbs. Trilevel spinal injury. Thank you 🙏🏾 New subscriber, communities been my best mentor.
Your candor is refreshing. It makes your content honest and helps [some of] us be more comfortable with our own challenges. One of the lessons is that things we once thought were seriously important, really aren't. I remember a great lesson: A) Don't sweat the small stuff and, B) It's all small stuff. Congratulations for finding your freedom. Be well.
Friend, just finished the entire series on your transformation. So much of what you say is so spot on. Thank you for sharing. Started my keto journey Jan 7th, 2020. 255lbs, 5' 10", 55yrs old. Now 185lbs and 5' 11"! Gained an inch in height. Weird. Anyway, I did a lot of what you did and have a similar journey. The advice regarding not talking about keto is sound. The first rule about Keto is we never talk about keto. Everyone knows all the things we cannot eat. "Wow, what do you eat then?" is a typical question. I say, "Everything else". I started watching your cooking videos and finally this week, subscribed. I saw your journey series and saw how long they are. Debated about watching and so glad I did. My wife is also keto now. She waited 2 months after I started, saw the results and figured why not. She is down to 145lbs from a hair over 190lbs starting weight. New clothes, able to exercise finally, people seeing us after months wanted to know if we were ok or was our weight loss due to illness. The times we live in now I guess, with covid. To date my best friend from HS and his wife have joined the club as well as my sister and brother-in-law. All doing well and very thankful for our example and willingness to share what we did.(once we knew where they stood on keto. so true) I am the primary cook in our house and the food I have been able to make on keto is as good or better than preketo, IMO. Folks coming to our house love the food we put on the table and realize that no, in fact we are not starving ourselves. We eat, period. Keep up the videos. I will keep cooking and sharing when appropriate. God bless friend. Congrats on your success.
You and your wife should be very proud of what you have accomplished. Congratulations and thank you for the kind words. I'm glad to have you as a subscriber. 🙂👍
We have a church that has a sale once a month on donated items. I bought from a 4x down to a medium and didn't break the bank. We won't talk about all the LuLaRoe leggings I bought once I hit medium and small...BUT eBay has them for under $12 a pair.
I agree. I bought a gorgeous blue leather coat at my local thrift store for $2.72. It looked brand new. I kept noticing how nice the coat was, but did not realize just ‘how nice’ it was. I did some research and found the exact same coat on eBay with the price tag still on it. It was just over $300! My whole family buys 90 % of our clothes from that store. We are all the time getting complements on what we are wearing. We live in a college town and there are a lot of wealthy people here. I guess they get bored with their clothes and just get rid of them by donating them to get new ones. That’s great for my family and other savvy shoppers. We dress great for a fraction of the cost. And while the rich folks are working to pay for their new expensive clothes, my family and I are taking vacations with the money we have saved! Our daughter is 18 and she, along with her dad and I have been to nearly every National Park in the US. Thrift store shopping works for us! I’ve even made a bit of money selling some of the things I’ve found at thrift stores!
Hello Steve, I hope you see this message. I am a follower of Serious Keto for the past year and just finished watching your Transformation series, all 6 of them. Thank you for more than you could ever know for helping me and thousands more people on this journey. You covered every minute of thoughts and actions of my quest to better health. It started by just giving up sugar and then learning about keto through YT videos. WOW! What a wonderful change in my life, I can not even imagine going back to “normal” eating again because this is now my normal. Down 28# and want to lose about 20 more so I will lean on you for more motivation as your voice and advice are perfect for my voyage. It cannot end yet, 82 years and still counting. Thank you 👏👏👏
I just started my keto journey. On my 6th day in. I already have more energy and my knees don't hurt as much. My sleep is improving. I'm trying to make this year of getting back my health. With 3 stents hope I'm not too late. Wish me luck. Thank you for your honesty and informative message.
Oh my...I can relate to everything you've said! My Husband is slim and has no health issues and eats anything he wants. I literally had to divide the cupboards and fridge in half, 'his things, and my things.' Also, grocery shopping is a nightmare, not to mention the added expense. Having to cook 2 meals every night is wearing me out! It would be so much easier if he were Keto as well. And as for telling people I'm on a Ketogenic Diet...well, let's just say I've learned to keep my big mouth shut!. If anyone asked me about my weight loss, I just say, "I'm a Low-Carber" and I DON'T say another word. If someone persists with questioning, I tell them to do their own research. I've actually had a co-worker pick a fight with me over her belief that our bodies need Carbs to survive. Can you believe that? Geeeez!
Debbie L Would you be able to make some dishes that are Keto, but then add in whatever carbs your husband enjoys as a side or addition to your keto recipe? I know your situation might not allow for this, but I have tried that with my husband and two teen boys and it’s mostly worked. For example if you grill burgers, you can have yours without bread and add a salad. Or fix keto chili and make his with beans and cornbread. Yours with sour cream cheese, avocado. It’s not easy being the only one in your family on keto, but as the chef we have a lot of control over what everyone eats in our homes. Good luck!
@@happytexanbychoice2920 Thanks Cheryl, I'm actually doing that tonight. We're having Terykaki Chicen and Pork Fried Rice. I have to seperate the Chicken and prepare mine with SF Teriyaki Sause. Also I have to prepare his Fried Rice, and my Fried Cauli-Rice. Its a pain in the butt, but well worth thd hastle!
Debbie L look into Intermittent Fasting. Cook double or triple portions of the non-keto stuff, and the husband can have leftovers when you’re not eating. It’s a lifesaver and will change your body constitution over time. Dr. Jason Fung is a great source.
I couldn’t agree more!! I’m a type 1 diabetic and have done every diet imaginable!! I kept gaining back the weight. But, not with keto. I love how I look and feel and treated myself to a trip to France that was on my bucket list for 20 years and had an amazingly big time because I felt healthy, clear minded and I am 60 lbs lighter using hardly any insulin at all! Ty I love this video and am passing it around to people who are the nay sayers! Finally it’s none of their business!!!
I absolutely love your video and I can’t thank you enough for sharing. I’ve been doing keto prior to the pandemic. After the pandemic started I stopped doing it and just ate what I wanted. I put some weight back on but not nearly all of it. I’ve started it again on Boxing Day. Today I weighed myself and I’m 300 lbs or 136 kilos. I’m down 170 lbs or 77 kg. Before I stopped keto I was 280 lbs. my goal is 200 lbs so I have a hundred to go. I’m going very sorry keto and eating all my calories in a 4 hour window until, like you said, I feel like I can get back into clean keto. It’s what I did before and it worked before. So thank you again for these videos. Watching videos really helps to encourage be to stick with it since I’m doing it alone like you did.
Inspirational and informative. I have enjoyed your series. I am starting my journey in the UK, today at 223lb. I have been watching videos and reading up on keto for about 6 months, but you relaxed and straightforward style has inspired me more than anything else i have seen. Thank you for taking the time to do these videos and good luck on your journey.
The first time I did this diet I failed because I tried to include too much drinking from the outset. Drinking not only messed up my metabolic keto process but it also terrorized any newfound self control I was trying to develop. I'm doing better the second time around. Congrats on your transformation!
I really enjoyed this whole series on your keto story. Thanks so much for sharing. My husband wanted me to do keto for awhile and I wouldn’t do it. Through your videos and some others I finally got on board and it really does make the difference having my husband and me supporting each other.
Hi Steve I just watched your transformation series and I really appreciate you sharing your story. I've seen some of your videos off and on over the last year and I really appreciate your input and your recipes. Sharing the story was being vulnerable and it's also very relatable. I've lost 125 lb and still need to lose another 80 so reviewing my progress helps to encourage me because the process is more important than the destination... No one could reach their destination without going through the stages that they are currently going through. Over the course of the six videos, I can identify with so many things that you have shared. Thank you my Friend and It is so vital that we value ourselves. God gave you a voice and there are still more people whose lives that you will affect. Thank you for the selflessness of sharing your story.
This is a great video for me. We're starting next week on a whole family keto/IF adventure. I've been doing keto for some years and now my husband and son are joining in. Yaaaaaaaaaaaassssaaaaaaa!
You've nailed it. My story exactly!!! I do Keto and am so happy that I'm not one of the ignorant people. I educate myself daily and keep up with all research on keto. Best way to eat and live healthy and look good!!!
Just finished watching your series. Thanks for putting it all out there. I have been in your shoes in similar fashion. I was scheduled for total knee replacement, but it was postponed because my AIC was too high. That was my "rock bottom" moment. The next day, I started a low carb diet and lost 25 lbs in 6 weeks. The doctor was ecstatic. "Don't stop what you are doing!" My AIC dropped to 5.4. I almost completely eliminated the need for insulin. OH, the surgery was a success and the knee never felt better.
You are so "right-on" about keeping your eating habits to yourself. The 3-4 that I brought keto up to had a response similar to receiving advice on how to vote.
This series is an amazing benefit to the keto community, especially those starting out! The main thing I wish I had realized is how customizable this w.o.e is. I had been overwhelmed by the tracking, "rules", and media vs. science. Don't let it boggle you, just do it! If you wait until you know everything, you lose valuable, life-saving time. Take your pictures (I regret not doing so), take your measurements and take charge! I am constantly learning new things about myself and my body, adjusting as I go and feeling better every day! Your channel has made the journey much more enjoyable and sustainable. I can't thank you enough! I highly recommend starting with this channel for people who are keto curious (and, honestly, everyone else too lol).
Part six is the best! You are spot on and hilarious! The cramping is NO joke! Telling people about keto when they ask what your doing...EXACTLY!... Mic drop! Enjoy your vacation!
I'm 70lb's over-weight and my Dr said, after viewing my bloodwork, at the end of my 15 day fast, told me I am one of his healthiest patients. Good advice about not talking to people about Keto. Have a great vacation!
Happy New Year and enjoy your vacation! After 2 yrs of on and off Keto my motto is “keto is forgiving”. Keto won’t punish you if you go off for a while. It will welcome you back when you return. The journey is very individual, it’s hard watching people with a lot of support but your channel show it can be done with temptations around. My keto lifestyle has evolved over the years so my suggestion is listen and follow the path that works for you in the moment, you may be in a different path down the keto journey. I did keto snacks and ketofied baked good, I tried IF and have found almost carnivore to be the best current lifestyle. Who knows where I’ll be by the end of the year, but I know I’ll be in a good food lifestyle place. Wishing everyone who embraces Keto much healthy!
Leto side effects and lessons learned video was spot on. I did keto back in 2002 !!!! Back on it again and everything you said was perfect. Today 2020 vs 2002 there is so much more to eat so many more keto videos such as yours and new information about keto is just insane !!! In 2002 what I ate to lose weight sounded like a road to a heart attack, but my dr visits proved it was only doing the exact opposite every blood test lipid panel bp tests were improved greatly. My biggest agreement with you is a partner ! If you have that connection with someone anyone is so helpful. That being said I am again going solo on my journey again but the whole keto you tube community helps out tremendously!!!!!!! Thank You
YES! YES! YES! Spot on, spot on!!! Most of that applies to my year long 2019 Keto journey! I started January 2019. Going into 2020 a different person. As you said , I don’t even recognize the person I was. Everything you’ve said will help so many newbies! Thanks so much for your honesty it means so much to us out here. 👏🏻🙌🏻🙏 THANK YOU 🙏 👍🏻😎
Just started Keto and am amazed! I was a hard core carbaholic eating all day due to constant hunger. I went Keto for my seizures after research lead me to this...Dr.’s have prescribed this diet to cure/manage seizures since the 1920’s. Well, my extreme inflammation went away which alleviated my pain due to scoliosis, L4/L5 issues, etc. I’m waking up early with tons of energy. I’m able to walk on the treadmill again without pain. I’m 5’-8” and 120, so weight loss was not why I chose this diet. I chose it for my health, and I will never go back to the pain I had before! Clean Keto all the way with intermittent fasting saved my sanity!
Thank you for sharing your life, your journey, your insights & your setbacks and victories. You are a gifted storyteller. Also, I pray that your wife, children appreciate your transformation & that someday soon they will join you in this healthy lifestyle. Keeping striving to thrive. 👍😊
Best video ever! I could have done this video word for word. I'm a 2 time stroke survivor and multiple heart attacks. I have half a heart and a Difibulator. So as of 8/2014 life was scary, in 6/2017 I started my keto journey and will never turn back. 70lbs lighter and 20 percent heart infection rate increase I'm now living what I consider my best life at 56.Thank you for all your videos, they have ment the world to me. Thanks again Dave..
Steve you are the BEST! I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do for this community. We love and adore you. The inspiration and information you give us is what keeps many of us on this keto journey even when our stinkin' ketones don't wanna be where they should ;) Please know that we got your back and are here to support and encourage you right back! Enjoy your vacation!
OMG the yawn cramp!!! I thought it was just me! That makes me feel so much better! I thought I was doing something wrong! Thanks for the electrolytes tip!!!
I’m an Atkins person. But, I am grateful for the Keto community because it gives me lots of ideas for things to eat on my regular low carb diet...I enjoy your videos. Keep them coming 😊
You are the bomb for making these videos and presenting yourself as you truly are. Other, overly produced, visibly forced and scripted UA-cam channels have never been very inspiring to me and I'm sure many folks probably feel that way. I've been intermittent fasting with a keto-ish diet for almost a month and I feel at least 70% better than just a short time ago. Already, I can see a difference in my face and feel a change in the way my clothes fit. I will be using the notches on my belt to measure progress so when I actually, for real, feel good I can ease into more moderate macros without stressing about numbers. I'm already down almost 3 belt holes in this short time! Thank you for sharing your story and keeping it real!
My doctor was not happy when I switched to keto. So the next time I went in and she saw the weight loss she asked me what I was doing. I told her I laid off of the sugar starch and processed foods. She was happier than a pig in sh!t. I have a new doctor now.
Very lucid advice. Keto with clean fats (or even with bacon) is amazingly effective. The mental transformation is the biggest challenge...but once you’ve modified your mindset and deleted breads, sweets, French fries, pizza, etc., the results are almost unbelievable. Intermittent fasting, minimum 16 hours accelerates the weight loss dramatically. Thanks for your series, your turnaround should inspire many to get back in control of their runaway Standard American Diet.
Very touching and heartfelt videos, glad you could share with us from video 1 to 6. January 2 2019 I decided to change my overweight life. I am 5'5" and climbed up to 192 lbs, in photos I looked BIG and was prediabetic. I knew I didn't want to become diabetic and have all the problems and meds that go along with that...so I dove in right away after doing research on Keto...alot of research and kept track of weight, and inches lost. After 8 months I lost 30 inches between bust and hips...and now from a size 14 plus to size 6-8 blood sugar good. So I tell my friends, do it for yourself, your health, to feel better for yourself. I look at old photos and cringe, and no more wine, which was my downfall. Some tell me "I carried my overweight well" ha...When my son picked me up at the airport with his wife, 7 months after keto, they didn't know right away that it was me and then they gave me a huge hug and told me how great I looked and younger. Boy did I feel good about myself. Like you said, I've never ate so many greens and healthy vegatables before Keto and looking at what the SAD is today, we Keto-ites eat healthier than them. Thank you Steve, for your encouragement and your straight up reviews etc.!!!
Nothing beats the look on people's faces when they haven't seen you in a long time. Such a great and reaffirming experience. I'm really happy for you. 🙂
I’ve been watching keto video’s for weeks now and ran across yours today, I was so excited to see someone who shared the same life struggles as I have. I can relate to you on so many levels . You have been the greatest inspiration and a God sent blessing.
Mental clarity has really improved. I remember things better and my mental math ability is returning. I do very well keeping in keto while at home. Eating out and family dinners are not helpful.
How is eating out hard? Just dump the starch for an extra portion of vegetables, hold the sauce (because a lot of sauces have sugar added.) If you're a sauce addict figure out what you want to eat before you go and bring your own. Or just make due with Sour Cream, butter, vinegar and mustard, just about every restaurant will have those. Oh, and obviously don't order a carb based meal like Pasta or Pizza of the place doesn't have low carb alternatives. I did once turn a platter of appetizer nachos into a nacho salad by having the chips replaced with salad greens.
I have too much to say that would require a conversation. So, I'll just say, I enjoyed your entire series of "My Transformation." You really put yourself out there. I'm a new subscriber and I'm glad I found you.
I will be on vacation the next two weeks and won't be able to give the comments section my usual amount of attention and interaction. I'll count on the more seasoned SeriousKeto subscribers to hold down the fort while I'm gone.
Just finished your lovely miniseries! It was amazing I’ve been on my journey since June 30, 2019 I’m at my high school weight Menopause had me very concerned about my image…after not wanting to start wearing pull ups or leggings anymore, I did what you did I found dr berg first, dr Nick, dr berry and dr mandelle over a period of time, I found you too on UA-cam. My story is so different, I’m afraid if I tell it, people would be furious. But anyway, my thoughts on what I would tell someone in the beginning is, it’s not about anything or anyone but you, it’s a mindset, it’s a lifestyle. Period. If you aren’t happy, do what you can by removing one bad food choice at a time, and add two good healthy choices. No corn, no wheat, no soy is how I started, then added green leafy greens, ACV drinks, and that helped me start cutting sugar, carbs & replacing with healthy fat bombs & lots of plain water. I slowly but surely made changes without feeling deprived, depressed or angry. I don’t watch any news, not even local news. I pray, I listen to calming music and the only tv I watch is old sitcoms, documentaries and of course I’m an avid UA-cam’er. I’m happy, I’m healthy and I’m free. Life is good 😊
I have a pair of jeans I kept from high school and I'm 40 now - one of my favourites. Got too fat over the years but now they fit once more and are a little lose :) it's a wonderful feeling! Buy new clothes is like the cherry on top - assuming you can afford it of course. Feeling great, looking great and wearing new clothes only improves the mood and the determination I feel! Solo keto or low carb is tough when you live with others - totally have the same scenario! Lots of rice (although I have converted them to cauliflower rice on occasion), bread, fruit, etc. Oils is a tough one too - cooking for one in a family space is also not great, especially when meals are a family orientated thing - as they should be - just adds to the challenge :)
I just found your channel today and have enjoyed your cooking videos as well as your transformation series. I have been keto off and on for several years and have now committed to life long. I get inspiration from you! And, I was so happy and surprised when you mentioned the neck cramps. I have those too!! I had no idea what was happening, those definitely are the worst!
Thinking of what you said about taking a picture of yourself, on two occasions recently I’ve had strangers look at my license, once when I was applying for a new SS card and another when I went out to a bar, and on both occasions the people looking at my license said that I look like a completely different person. The guy at the bar almost didn’t let me in and asked if I was sure that was really my license. It got me thinking that it may make sense to take a new license photo soon.
Same here. I went to a different bank branch and they wouldn't cash my check. I had to go get a new driver's license photo taken. What a compliment! :) Living in Ketopia since April 2017.
I too just started in Dec 2019. I am really struggling with the no sugar. I feel all day like I am missing a taste that I need to survive! I’m hope that it will die down soon. I was also told to try not to have sweetners and just let your body get used to the better way of being. But I’m not sure if I can survive without something at this point and keep being keto! I am sure that everyone struggles in the beginning but for how long? When will this start to be easier?
Trina I can’t pinpoint a date when it gets easier, but I’ve found that on the vacation I’m currently enjoying, even fruit tastes too sweet for me. You’ll get to that point. Have faith and take it one day at a time.
@@trina8350 Try making home made Ice Tea and use Stevia as a sweetener (I use the "in the raw: myself). As a desert you can make your own Whipped cream, just need Whipping Cream, Stevia, real vanilla extract that doesn't have sugars and a wisk on a mixer (can do it by hand if you want to have a workout) and add some raspberries or black berries. Note. Only do this type of desert periodically or it can lead to kidney stones. You are at the beginning and if you don't satisfy some of the sweet cravings it will be hard to stay on it. I have just restarted down the Keto path myself at the beginning of Nov and down 25#. I have been on Keto before, lasted 8 months but then had Kidney stones, was doing more of a dirty keto that time and have done more reading and research since. Good Luck
Great series Steve. What I have learned in the first year is that when people ask "what" you are doing they don't really want to know, it's when they ask "how" did you do it, that's when they want to here more. I rarely lead with the word keto though, it's much easier to just say I don't eat garbage processed foods anymore.
I've wanted the whole series, thanks man, I follow just the 2 doctors you mentioned and you, I really wish you the best, your content is genuine and useful.
I cleaned the house of all junk food, sweets, cookies, pasta and flour. I said to myself that from now on this is what I will be doing for my health, there is no going back, the same commitment an alcoholic has to take but with sweet foods. I reached a two meal a day rythm with 18 hour intermittent fasting and sometimes one meal a day. I'm 69 and have lost 106 pounds in 369 days. Off of diabetes meds with a perfect consistent blood sugar level and off high blood pressure meds (with my doctors approval) BP 128/79. My wife followed my diet but with regular three meals a day and she went from 145 down to 120 pounds without even noticing any stress. I had the exact same side effects as described in this vlog. No more greasy sweaty skin, no more scalp itch, no more ear canal itch, no bad breath (I eat lots af salad) no more heart burn but more farts??. Also some constipation due to reduced amount of food volume. My system was used to "processing" five meals a day and now it tries to squeeze every bit of nutriment from what food it receives, thus bowel movement is less frequent and harder. I have increased my fiber and fluid intake.
Very useful observations, thanks. After 3yrs keto with some excellent results - eg T2 diabetes glucose normalisation, arthritis pain lessened and 40lb weight loss, everything stalled for over a year and my hyperinsulinrmia raged on and I had no energy. I took it to the limit and went zero carbs. Slowly starting to feel human again. Very slow train but not going to be any stopping me as I never want to feel so bad ever again. What you say about sustainability is very important for me because I do reach saturation point with meat only. So now I have the occasional day when I allow a small piece of fruit, a little salad, onion and seasoning and I carefully observe reactions, if any. Interestingly, I can now walk past all the junk food while shopping and it doesn’t bother me anymore. I even went out to dinner with friends yesterday and felt no envy or inclination towards any of their food. I looked that cheesecake in the eye and felt nothing!! Zero cravings is not a thing I ever experienced even in my skinny active youth. Even alcohol doesn’t entice me in order to have a good time, cos I don’t want the pain and inflammation next day and lasting for weeks. So now I’m mostly ketovore and keeping carbs to a very occasional treat when the boredom sets in.
Great video. My wife was listening and would laugh at the similarities we both have. She eats everything and anything she wants so that can be hard sometimes. I'm down about 100 lbs now and many more to go. Thanks for the encouragement.
Thought of this podcast last week because your advise about talking " Keto " with people is exactly what I have experienced. If you are honest about how great you feel and how you attained your weight loss...I swear I started a political debate. Anyway the reason I decided to post on this vid: I had flown to Florida for a convention and a co-worker ( who I have never met in person ) had heard I had lost weight doing keto. He asked me about it and how long since I started ( Caution! ). He has the same body type I had as a borderline type 2 diabetic and probably 80 lbs overweight. I was hesitant...but then he said he had been on keto himself...so I started to chime in a bit and then he qualifies " Yeah but when I stopped I gained it all back" ( refrain we always here ). So I paused. He did mention that his doctor actually encouraged him to stay on the Keto diet because it would drastically improve his health and bring down his troubling blood sugar levels. He lamented he just could not stop eating carbs. And his wife is a NURSE! So I stopped because I knew it was pointless. Sounds like your run of the mill keto conversation right? Oh wait it gets better. The next morning we are all at a breakfast buffet and he tells me he has to watch the fat intake so he takes a few eggs and loads his plate with fried potatoes. During this time he begins to tell another employee he has recently had a heart attack and hoping he can get his doctor to approve the weight loss surgery he wants to get. I am assuming he means bariatric surgery. At that point my inside voice was screaming... WTH you actually improved when you changed your diet but the thought of backing off on bread and potatoes is just a bridge too far and you would prefer to go under a knife. Just like you said...at that point there is no sense talking about what worked. Say a prayer for them and keep about your day.
I'm fond of saying that you can't push the truth on someone. They need to find it on their own. It's a lot like trying to give advice to your teenagers.
Great job!! I really like your presentations! I'm 73, been too heavy (not obese) for many years. You know, 20-30 lbs. over ideal with typical beer (belly fat!) gut. I have several health issues, on prescription meds. About 2 months ago I started watching You Tube videos on Keto as well as Carnivore. I did a lot of note taking and research. I was a pizza, pasta, beer, soda, ice cream, candy, fast food guy. Addicted to a lot of it! Single, and really not into cooking for myself. So December 12th I made the jump to attempt a better, healthier way of eating, and hopefully drop some weight, and I came up with a game plan that I call Ketovore. A combo idea. I cut out ALL sugar, all carbs other than broccoli and cauliflower for their nutrient factor, and looked for organic, clean foods that fit the requirements of these diets. I started simply eating prime grass fed/finished fatty meats like rib eye steak, quality uncured bacon, lots of pasture raised omega 3 eggs, canned wild Alaskan sockeye salmon, avocado oil, virgin organic cold pressed olive oil, organic ghee etc. I'm getting pretty good at putting together quick, wholesome meals using these ingredients along with high quality Redmond sea salt, fresh ground pepper, organic garlic powder etc. And their always delicious! Oh yeah, I drink only filtered water, nothing else! I had one setback about a week in where I just had to have some ice cream. But from then on, no more problems with cravings. I'm amazed I'm not craving sugar/sweets/candy as I was always eating these things. I couldn't go to the market w/out grabbing a big bag of M&M's or caramel's, ice cream, soda, chips etc. Now I go to the grocery store, and I get everything I need for my new life, and never even think about the nasty things that I always had to have. I've found my appetite quickly changed, and now I eat only when I'm hungry- sometimes twice daily, sometimes once (one big meal), sometimes nothing till the next day. This allows anywhere from 16 to 24 hour fasts pretty regularly with no problem. I've now been on my 'new food plan' for 3 weeks, and to date I've dropped a total of 10 lbs.! Incredible improvements I've experienced in less than 3 weeks! 1) I've had back misery all of my adult life with physical spinal damage and severe canal stenosis, etc. Arthritis in ALL of my joints and inflammation to the point I was taking a daily prescription anti-inflammatory for years- this stuff is not good for you, but it was either that or misery! I'm now completely off this med, and feel better than I did even while taking it! My inflammation has decreased dramatically! 2) Grinding neck: For years when I would rotate my head, it sounded like I was grinding gravel with my skull! That is now GONE! 3) Acid reflux: Suffered for years, especially at night. I kept a bowl of Tums on the bedpost! It's now GONE!! No more Tums required! 4) Skin tags: I had these damn things under my arms, around my neck etc. for years. Every year the dermo would remove about 12 of the biggest offenders. These are now pretty much GONE! Still a few little ones that are shrinking away. 5) Night time dry mouth: GONE! 6) Dry eyes: Still have this, but it has definitely decreased in severity! 7) Falling asleep after meals: GONE! 8) Sweating: I used to sweat as well, especially under minimal exertion. My underarm odor was always pretty bad and required constant washing and deodorant. I was even wiping myself with rubbing alcohol as well to kill the bacteria. Now I am no longer sweating during average exertion, and my underarm odor is GONE! I've stopped using deodorant for the most part, and simply wash during normal bathing. Absolutely amazing! 9) Increased energy and stamina: I used to get very out of breath under light exertion like putting on my shoes, climbing stairs, anything that required minimal physical effort. I suffered a bad case of interstitial pneumonia several years ago that almost killed me. Hospitalized for a month (longest month of my life!!), lots of x-rays and steroids. It damaged my lungs, not to mention my right diaphragm is paralyzed so that lung no longer functions! I thought I'd suffer with being out of breath like this for the rest of my days! Now that's GONE! I can do all of these things now, and much more, and not even notice- no more sitting down to catch my breath! I don't have to! 11) Depression: I've been on Lexapro anti-depressant med for about 10 years. I'm presently weaning myself off of it, and I'm almost done. I feel fine so far, no side effects that I can see/feel. This would free me from all prescription meds! 12) Blood pressure: My resting blood pressure has averaged around 140 over 70 for years. Last night it was 114 over 58! I've NEVER seen it that good! It's astounding! Hey, at this rate I may just live for another 20 years! And the best part is I'm feeling great! It's a Christmas miracle! All of the above is absolutely true! I'm not one to tell tales, or b/s people. It really does appear that the medical industry in this country hasn't a clue about nutrition, or proper diet, and never has! As my hero George Carlin once stated, "It's all bullshit folks, and it's bad for ya!" All of these changes in less than 3 weeks! It really is a complete and total miracle, for sure! Yes, I'm definitely becoming a different person, and all for the good! I cannot recommend getting on this type of diet more, the sooner the better!! I know I'm on this now for good! You couldn't PAY me enough to go ever go back to my previous ways! If you've been procrastinating about trying this change of life style, stop putting it off and JUST DO IT! You'll not be sorry!
Thanks for being real and telling it like it is. I have been following Dr Berg a few years and my company is sponsoring program thru Virta that is keto plan and been on program about a month (sorta). The big thing they ask is find your “why”. Still looking at that: besides being healthy but want a good quality of life in my later years. Being a truck driver and a Foody is difficult on the road. I am home nightly but days can be 10-12 hours. I found your channel today looking for keto Mayo. I spent the day watching your transformation series and was inspiring. I will visiting your videos to find more recipes to help me. Thanks again for being real.
Thanks for sharing this, Steve. I enjoy your videos and have been through this journey since Jan 2 2019. That day I weighed 388. Today I weigh 262, and have pretty much stayed within a 10 pound range since late last year. The advice I would give to others is to weigh yourself every day in the morning, and keep a record. I have mine in an excel SS. I know a lot of people say don't weigh every day, but it is imperative that you keep a record. It helps to strengthen your resolve. One other thing, you will hit plateaus along the way where you don't lose any weight for a week, two weeks, etc. That's normal. Just keep going. Eventually the weight will come off. I still want to lose another 40 or so. I'm 6'. So after the holidays I will commence clean keto until I get to that point.
I just wanted to wish you a good new year and vacation, ive been on my keto journey since Easter weekend ive lost as of today 120lbs thinking about telling my story and it got me realizing that I needed to thank a few people who aided me along the way; you're one of them! THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU! !
@@SeriousKeto I've just gone through all my old clothes like you did this week got 5 pares of jeans and a few shirts, my favorite old leather trench coat, but most of the others stuff is to big!!! Guess i waited too long...lol But your advice about a clothing budget is spot on brother. I had to buy a suit for a wedding next week, i couldn't get it at the big and tall shop nothing was small enough! ! Win win
Keep on keeping on! Do what you know works and don’t worry about people who don’t get it ❤️
Good stuff!
c s agreed. My doc was really happy with my blood test results after I went keto. When asked what I did differently I told him then he proceeded to lecture me on how bad it was... one minute after saying how impressed he was with the results.
Awesome job
CONGRATS!
I would have given you 60's judging from your photo!
You're my hero! Congratulations!
Well done!! Good for you!!
I wish you were my roommate! My son's family lives with me, so lots of non keto going on over here. Trying, though.

Well said.
Thank you I don't have time to sit through a 15-minute video👍
So glad I saw this comment. I had no desire to watch a video from a packers fan.
You SAVED me 15 minutes!
Time saved
All good advice! Although I learned #1 the hard way.
#metoo
Lmao the 1
That’s a lot of good advice.
Its funny how nobody freaks out when you're eating cookies, cake, and chips and drinking sugar sodas all day!
But if you cook something in beef tallow, you're committing suicide. 😄
IKR.. unbelievable! U can literally have a box of fried chicken fries a huge shake and a slab of pie on your table and no one sees an issue, but say Keto and the sirens go off, thanks Steve this series wonderful and informative and your so brave to put it all out for us to learn from... much appreciated enjoy your vaycay
Right? they are overjoyed and actually join in.
@@laquettarobinson3168 it's better to cast healthiness as a crime than to have to admit that you can't enjoy said ice cream, cake, cookies, chips, fried chicken fries, shakes and other garbage. That way you can feel less guilty about your own actions by blaming others. Oh well, it's the way people are these days. It's all their fault I tell you. Ahhh, I feel better. Wait...
Omg yes my wife and kids are allways making food and snacking
You are the first person that I’ve ever seen mention a yawn cramp. They are the worst. You have given me such great insight and advice. It is much appreciated.
YOUR AN INSPIRING PERSON. I WATCH YOU ALL THE TIME.. I STARTED KETO 2 WEEKS AGO AT 357 AND TODAY I AM 334..... I am also 5'9 but 42 years old.
I don’t say I’m on keto, I say I intermittent fast and I’ve cut sugar out of my diet, that usually ends the conversation
I am learning that this is how I need to describe it too. 😅
Steve! BEST POST EVER! I sat here shaking my head in agreement time after time. You are a superb communicator. Many many thanks, good sir!
Pj I couldn't have said that any better.
Exactly. Brilliant communicator. Greatly appreciate it.
You rock!!
My best keto advice (2.5 years) is: count TOTAL carbs, not net. Run away from all seed oils. And limit the keto treats! Enjoying your channel😊
I couldn't agree more!
It's encouraging to hear a success story from another person whose family isn't eating Keto. Thanks for sharing your story.
It would be a lot easier if I weren’t 20% of the food eaters in the house, but it’s doable. 😉
"There's no crying in baseball"
I agree completely!
If I'm your first keto/IF patient, your second should be YOU."
Steve's advice is generally very good about what to expect.
I love what you said to your doctor. Very inspiring and kind words!
75 pounds down and counting. reversed diabetes. loooooooooooooooong list of other health improvements! never stop learning! constantly tweaking and improving what i do through baby steps along the way! thank you for sharing!
Wow nice .....I’m going to begin it did u use sola keto bread is it good ??
Great advice!
Wow, thank you for sharing your experiences. Glad you're back on keto and feeling better!
Curt
Thanks for the comment and welcome back to keto. I'm glad to have you here. Just know that you've done it once before, you can do it again. 👍
Oh Curt you poor thing
That is amazing! Congratulations to both you and your son!
So many excellent points!
Great job. And I can totally relate to the family thing... 👍
I don't think a high carb diet provides more electrolytes. Just salt your food to taste and you'll be fine.
It looks like they may be considering a very low carb (
That’s fantastic! Congrats on taking control of your health and thank you for sharing your story.
I absolutely love your humor! I don't think you truly realize what a difference you make in people's lives, but believe me you have a major impact. If I only have a short time to be on UA-cam, I make sure that I check your channel. Please don't ever stop - we need you!
Thank you so much for the kind words.
I applaud you for being the kind of guy willing to change a baby. Your a good man Steve!
Glad to have you here. 🙂
Hope you’re doing well! 😊
Can I thank you for taking the time and effort in uploading your journey / destination and sharing it so publicly.
You sure can. And I appreciate it. 😊
That's fantastic!
Great to hear!
Yep! I kept skinny clothes, thank goodness. But first time ever I've had the confidence to get rid of the fat clothes. 👍 No more acid reflux! 😁
I'm donating clothes as soon as they are too big. Wish I'd kept all my skinny clothes but I'd given up hope of ever getting slim again.
Britt H really??? No acid reflux?? I would love that😱😱👏👏👍👍. Going to need to start
I used to get acid reflux so bad. I was always 'aware' of my stomach. Don't even notice it now.
This transformation series was great and so relatable. Didn't think I could like Steve more but here we are.
Thank you. 😊
Yep, me too!
Be well.
Thank you for the very kind words.
Excellent series, especially for us middle aged folks. It's easy to do something when you are in your 20's, but 40's and 50's are entirely different.
So true.
Yep. I hit 40 (41 now) and suddenly I'm battling my metabolism. It's hard.
and 60s! ;-)
What about 30s
All doing well and very thankful for our example and willingness to share what we did.(once we knew where they stood on keto. so true)
I am the primary cook in our house and the food I have been able to make on keto is as good or better than preketo, IMO.
instead of buying new clothing every months Go to a thrift store and buy 2 outfits for less than $20 you’ll outgrow them in a month or two
We have a church that has a sale once a month on donated items.
Yes! Goodwill is your friend!
Yup! GW FASHION'S (goodwill)
Very good advice!
Thank you 👏👏👏
Thank you for the kind words and congrats on your progress.
I just started my keto journey. On my 6th day in. I already have more energy and my knees don't hurt as much. My sleep is improving. I'm trying to make this year of getting back my health. With 3 stents hope I'm not too late. Wish me luck. Thank you for your honesty and informative message.
That's great! I think you will be amazed at how rapidly you can turn back the clock.
@@esalenchik good idea!!
I eat what my wife cooks me. Let that sink in.
Thank you!
Good luck Sean, from a fellow up UK viewer
Me to Sean fellow biggie 225lb... you anywhere near walsall..
Am in the Uk too and starting to have a look at Keto and what it’s about
The first time I did this diet I failed because I tried to include too much drinking from the outset.
Thank you. 😊
That’s fantastic!
I binge watched this whole series in one day. You are an inspiration to me and .any others.
Thank you
Happy New Year and enjoy your vacation!
Thank You
Glad to have you along for the ride, my man. For me, it was Atkins back in '98 or '99. And it is infinitely more sustainable now than then.
YES! YES!
Thank you. 😊
Sage Time well I’m glad I made this video before you did. 😀. But seriously, congrats on your life improvement. 👍🏻
Will do.
Thanks for the comment and congrats on your progress!
I totally know what you mean about talking keto. I just tell people I don't eat sugary and starchy foods anymore, it's honest yet neutral.

Thank you. 🙂
Mental clarity has really improved. I remember things better and my mental math ability is returning.
I do very well keeping in keto while at home. Eating out and family dinners are not helpful.
What's more important: your health or your family? Are you any use to them sick or dead?
How is eating out hard? Just dump the starch for an extra portion of vegetables, hold the sauce (because a lot of sauces have sugar added.)
If you're a sauce addict figure out what you want to eat before you go and bring your own.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy the vacation, sir... I'm positive you earned it.
Have fun. We will hold down the proverbial fort.👍🏻😀☕️
Enjoy your vacation! Happy New Year, see you on the Flip Side.
Have a great vacation Steve!
Just finished your lovely miniseries! It was amazing
I’ve been on my journey since June 30, 2019
I’m at my high school weight
Menopause had me very concerned about my image…after not wanting to start wearing pull ups or leggings anymore, I did what you did
I found dr berg first, dr Nick, dr berry and dr mandelle over a period of time, I found you too on UA-cam.
I'd listen to you talking all day long!
Thanks for the precious advices and congrats for the amazing transformation, you are truly inspiring!
I’m glad that you’ve enjoyed my videos.
*Thanks for sharing your experiences and tips!*
Boon Doggle Yes, I don’t look at all the same person as on my ID photos and it has come up as an issue twice. Gives me an inner smile tho’.
Same here. I went to a different bank branch and they wouldn't cash my check. I had to go get a new driver's license photo taken. What a compliment! :) Living in Ketopia since April 2017.
Or, photo proof of keto success? Keep it.... LoL!
This video helps me, I started Keto on Dec 29, 2019 and I already feel better. Plan is to go from 243 to 180 and stay on track.
Fortunately, there are plenty of people and videos out on UA-cam to help you along your journey. Good luck!
Top rated video on keto I have seen thus far .you nailed every points. Much more success ahead sir
As my hero George Carlin once stated, "It's all bullshit folks, and it's bad for ya!"
All of these changes in less than 3 weeks!
That's fantastic!
That's wonderful!
👍
