I have a similar problem, my PSP doesn't start without charger but it also dies after a while even with charger, i really don't understand this since a year ago or so it was completely fine.
@@LucasxDsY Three questions. Do yiu have a battery inside? Do you have an old battery? And three, us your AC cable old ir worn down? If one of those are yes, then try to get it fixed by replacing the things. Hope it helps!
@@g4binator394 The PSP has a battery inside. AS far as my eyes can tell the cable is fine. The battery is as old as the PSP, so it is old, but I don't know where to get another one at where I'm from. There is also another interesting thing, when I connect the cable to the PSP, at first the PSP power bottom is orange showing it is charging, but after some minutes the bottom stops showing any colour even though neither the cable nor the PSP were moved, this happens until i get the cable out and put it back again.
@@LucasxDsY I think the problem is the PSP battery since you said it was old that it might not have very good connectors so that might be why the charger is not showing after a while depending on where you are from I would suggest that you get a battery from a retro game store near you or on Amazon you can find one and make sure it has good reviews
Try taking out the battery and powering it with the power adapter. If it still doesn't power on, it could be your power adapter, or something more serious.
Is it just me or what, I just bought a used psp 3004 that was hacked and I get about 1 and a half until it drains to 50 percent than the whole thing dies in about 20 min the dude said the battery is new so it needs to be charged a few times until it starts working properly. Someone help pls, sounds like bullshit to me at least
guys are you still there? I think I know what the problem is, there is a tiny battery in the mother board that is used to store some power even when you remove the battery, so the date and time won´t reset. However, doing research I´ve come to the conclusion that when that battery goes bad (most likely every psp in 2020) they draw power continuously from the main battery since they can´t hold a charge on their own. Kind of a "short circuit" of sorts. Solution? Possibly desoldering the battery from the mother board will stop the drain of the main battery even when the psp is completely shut down. Here´s a video of the process: ua-cam.com/video/UAJ6yKsbUg0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=nmapper

So I'm having a similar problem right now, but I just bought a new battery and it's the same exact time from unplugging it. Dies after like 30 minutes. Brand new battery, even if its aftermarket should last longer? Lol
i have a psp 3k that is jailbroken i dont have to use the switch to turn it off just on i have two real psp 1k batteries that are dead and wont take charge i brought a after market battery that does not want to still powered it last about 4 hrs maybe or so
You're overcomplicating this... A good indicator that you've done a hard shutdown is power indicator coming off after several seconds rather than instantaneously. Also, the battery will still drain when it is off because the battery powers the time/date settings.
I've got six PSPs of all numbered types and the crappy after market batteries presently available (any brand) are good for 2-3 hours of play at med brightness, no umd - all digital, and every single one drains pretty quickly even when completely shut off. It's just the way it is in PSP land these days.
just hold the power until the green light turns off. when its still in sleep mode the green light stays on. only when the light turns off is when its truly shutoff.
thats normal for a psp even when its completely shut down. but it normally it should hold the charge about 2-3 weeks.. or even a month ( my two psp do that) otherwise a bad battery is the problem.

@@g4binator394 I'll try that, thanks
I got new battery week ago still dies fast no Mather what i do I am lucky get 90 mins to play is it last 3 to 5 hours per charge
It all depends on the hardware you have.
Maybe battery problem or your psp general wear and tear
I found my psp yers later and it not turn on, I tried charging it but It still won’t turn on,What’s the problem? , I was using a usb charger

victorsabadus Alr thanks I’ll try
The psp won't charge with a usb unless it is already on and in USB transfer mode. You need a power adapter
KnOmEeZy i also got same problem, with usb cable charge and around 1mini then can not charge.

this is not a battery, but super capacitor ~1F

Same

You don't even have to count... you hold the switch down until the power light goes off, its really that simple.
